National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (DVD, 2007, Special Edition)

In all the years that I have seen Christmas vacation I have never seen it unedited. I have always seen the TV version with the "sentence enhancers" - as SpongBob would call them - removed form the movie.

I do take that back, when it first came out I went and saw it at the local theater and walked out about 30 minutes into it - not because of the film but I was soo depressed that even this movie could not cheer me up.

Many years later I sat down with my wife and this DVD and a bag of popcorn and loved every minute of it. It is not your "Traditional" Christmas film but it will be something we plan to watch every holiday season.

It stands the test of time quite well, as I am sure that everyone can relate to Clark Griswall's (Chevy Chase) Christmas frustration of getting a tree, getting the lights up on the house, worrying about the Christmas bonus and dealing with a houseful of relatives - the one we all dread to show up for the holidays.

The bonus material on this DVD is very limited and I did not feel it was worth the time to watch.

This is my allllll time favorite Vacation movie, with Chevy Chase (out of the Vacation series). I have watched this movie every year since it was released. I always used to borrow my mom's DVD copy and decided this year would be the year I buy my own. I received it in the mail yesterday and even though I have seen this movie probably 15 times, I still laughed out loud during the whole movie. After watching this movie sooooo many times around, I always find new little funny parts, that were missed previous. This is the most fun out of all the Christmas movies I own. I love Chevy Chase, he his hilarious and Beverly D'Angelo is really funny too. If you want another great vacation movie, European Vacation with Chevy Chase is really good too, that would be my second favorite out of the series. Love, love, love this movie!

No Xmas is complete without watching this movie. In fact we tend to watch this all year long. Every part is a must see, you couldn't even edit out any parts.
We lost our origional copy,I Think it was borrowed and because its so great, it was never returned. My wife equates the fun in watching this movie to elf, and home alone. Can't explain any better!

This is a must have Holiday Movie. It has become a tradtion to watch this movie for the holidays in family for years now. We just love it, and still laugh each year.

The laughs never stop! It's all husbands putting up the lights using about 100
extension cords! then there's the crazy in-laws that won't leave. A family movie that you will want to watch each holiday season.

This is the best christmas movie of all times. Chevy chase is at his very best in this comedy. Its about how family can irritate you the most during the holidays. This is such a great movie for all.

One of the best Christmas Holiday movies out there :) .. Clark Griswold is the best. Next to Vegas Trip Vacation this one is the best National Lampoon movies I've watched. Recommendation!

JOHN HUGHES gem with the modern family looking for the last minute bonus and huge family gathering complete with grumpy grandparents, and unexpected Cousin Eddy (Randy Quaid) who steals the show~

A GEM EVEN AFTER 20 YEARS~ the Grizwalds are waiting for Christmas for the family gathering complete with grumpy grandparents, GENEROUS Christmas Bonus soon to arrive~ anal yupee neighbors, AND last and so very least~ Cousin Eddie and his RV pulls into the drive way~ the house is full and the family string far too many lights and electric shock everything from the family cat to blinding the neighbors, what can go wrong does but the show stealer here is COUSIN EDDIE~ WHO IS HOMELESS COMPLETE WITH DUMPLY WANNABEGO~ BLUE LEISURE SUITS, AND HORNEY MALE DOG SNOTS~ RANDY Quaid is hysterical as he emptys his "shi**er* (portable toilet) into the storm drain building the smell and methane to a great explosive ending~ we can see our family in this funny gem~ look for a very young Johnny Galecki ~(David) from Roseanne as Rusty the Grizwald son and heir~ A MODERN CLASSIC GEM~

5 STARS AND STAYING THERE~ IF YOU CAN LISTEN TO THE AUDIO COMMENTARY WITH SOME OF THE ORIG CAST~ EXCELLENT~

This is so funny. I have seen it lots and still love watching it over and over. It is good to watch at Christmas time. Chevy Chase is a hoot in it. Buy it you will love it if you have never seen it before.

Can't wait to get this one it is timeless!!!! How much fun was this movie to make!!!! Every guy would love to have "Clark Dream" LOL This is one movie that always bust your gut and like they say ONLY IN THE MOVIES !!!!!!

I'm going to relate a TRUE story here: In 1982/1983 we lived in a rented house just west of Lincoln, Illinois. Out in the middle of the corn and soy bean fields. We had two Afghan Hounds and a Himalayan cat named "Chimp", my oldest daughter gave him that name, don't ask me why I don't know. We were trying to watch some TV with our 19' TV with rabbit ears (no cable or satellite dishes then) and we were all seated on the couch and a couple of chairs. The dogs were laying on the floor and the cat was somewhere. We soon found out where!
The lights blinked and we heard this extremely loud "MEOW"!!!!! and saw our poor "Chimp" come flying out from behind the couch with his lips on fire!!!!
The poor cat had chewed into an electrical cord!
My wife took care of him and soothed his wounds. He would never come anywhere near the couch ever again!
When we saw this movie for the first time we wondered how they got the idea for that gag. Maybe our story made it to Hollywood!
Anyway I love this flick. It's hilarious. With Clark and the gang, I love Beverly D'Angelo (Al Pacino is one lucky guy), Eddie (my favorite character - reminds me of my brother-in-law) and the brunette from the department store.

I bought National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation a coule weeks ago and was immediately impressed with the quality of this low=priced movie. It does not have any scratches and does not glitch. The DVD case still had a sticker on it, making it appear extremely new. My only complaint is the non-padded packaging, but i have no quarrels with it since there was no charge for shipping.

I LOVE this movie, and had been looking to but it for a long time. Just watching how real they are is what makes it hilarious, because people can relate to the characters. Its a must see every Christmas =)

In my opinion this is one of the funniest Christmas movies to date. I finally found the opportunity to purchase it at a reasonable price.
