THEY BECOME MIS-GUIDED AT THE VALUE OF THE ONE THEY ACTUALLY HAVE IN THEIR HANDS. YES, OLDER EDITIONS ARE SELLING AT A PREMIUM, BUT THE ONES COMMONLY SOLD ON THIS PART OF E-BAY ARE UN-EDUCATED ABOUT THE DIFFERENCES IN THE EDITIONS-SOOOO.. THEY ENTER THE ISBN NUMBER, AND OUT POPS "4TH EDITION" (BECAUSE IT'S E-BAY'S INCORRECT DEFAULT INFO) BUT THEY DON'T SPECIFY IT'S INCORRECT!. THEN THE BUYER GETS ANGRY WHEN THEY RECIEVE A FIFTH EDITION THAT CAN BE FOUND DIRT CHEAP ANYWHERE IN ANY BOOKSTORE. REASON FOR MY RANT??? I HAVE BEEN SOLD BOOKS FROM REGULAR BOOKSELLERS (THAT HAVE NO IDEA WE COLLECT PREMIUM COPIES OF THE BASIC TEXT, AND A.A. MEMORBILIA)THAT WERE DESCRIBED AS "MINT" AND "lIKE NEW" AND THEY COME, AND THERE WATER DAMAGED, THE WRONG EDITION, WRITTEN IN....AND- ASK SELLER TO ID THE BOOK BEFORE BUYING,AND THEY GET SNOTTY AND SAY "IT'S IN THE DESCRIPTION" YOU CAN'T READ? JUST BECAUSE WE WANT TO BE SURE WHAT WERE BUYING. ALSO, MOST OF THE TIME THEY DON'T EVEN SPRING FOR THE .15 CENTS FOR A PICTURE, AND DON'T EVEN DESCRIBE THE BOOK AT ALL. BOTTOM LINE..IF YOU NOT SURE ABOUT THESE COLLECTABLE RECOVERY BOOKS, GO BACK TO STEVEN KING BOOKS, AND ROMANCE NOVELS. One of the best books on how to live ever written. Do not have to be an addict to learn from it.

I bought it to give it away to someone who did not have nor afford one.

This fantastic book saved my life! It's an easy to read book about recovery from the disease of addiction, and it speaks directly to the heart of addicts, as it's written by addicts, for addicts... So, if you are an addict, give your self a cnance, and read this book! It might change your life completely!

Keep coming back, it works if you work it!

This is a great book for recovering addicts or just addicts who want a better life. It gives you the definition for "Who is an Addict?" It has the history of where NA comes from and the "Basics" of the disease of addiction. If you have a problem pick it up read and see if what we have is for you.

This is the last fellowship approved version of the Basic Text.All versions after this edition Naw$ made changes to the wording without fellowship approval. This book is supposed to be fellowship approved in other words for addicts by addicts. All editions after the 3rd revised are a mockery of Narcotics Anonymous. So if you are looking to buy a basic text please consider this edition or an earlier version if you truly looking for real recovery.

Very informative book. A great buy for anyone interested in self-help or just interested in learning about addiction and recovery.

This book really helps you understand your addiction more. Also helps build out a plan to beat it for good.

I bid on a third addition not a 5th addition. You sent me a 5th addition book, I would not have bid on a 5th tradition book I have one already you can go buy that

Seller sent wrong book not the book I ordered which should have been a fourth edition and seller sent 3rd edition which I already have so now I'm sitting here w/ 2 of the same books with still no attempts from seller to fix problem after I have notified the seller. This buyer has nothing to say about liking or loving product.

I've never written a review for a book in my life and would like to know how the review that was in this space and had my name attached was done without me knowing about it. This is rediculous now my friends on NA ebay are going to think I'm some kind of schmuck.

For anyone who has been in recovery & relapsed or is trying to recover from addiction or for that matter someone trying to understand addiction, this is easily one of the best tried & true books ever marketed. It can be a positive step in right direction and helps addicts understand that they are not alone; there's no shame in asking for help & there really is help available from others who understand what it's like. The first part of this book is self-help steps to getting drug-free and the second part tells life stories from addicts both pre & post addiction. It includes harrowing tales of those with the strongest/longest addictions, the hell of rehab facilities, jails & prisons, the triumph in overcoming addiction and the much needed support from NA (narcotics anonymous) with additional help from sponsors found at NA meetings. Throughout this awesome book of help and healing from addiction is a constant reminder to take each day just one step at a time with mottos such as "JUST FOR TODAY". You can worry about tomorrow when it gets here. If you can stay clean just for today, you're a success. If you can't do it for a day, try half a day. You can do it "just for today". Additionally, this book has great resources listed in the back of the book to aid in the road to recovery. For any addict reading this review, you are not alone, addiction does not discriminate, there is help available and you can do it. The Narcotics Anonymous book is written for you, others who are like you, and those that will surely come after you. Get this book, find a meeting, take a step - just for today!

I'm a mom of a an addict who began using at just 12 y/o & reeled out of control so quickly at 13 that I felt my only option was a rehab facility in order to save my son. Due to the increasing problems w/our managed health care system, we were turned down because "he didn't meet the criteria". Not willing to give up, I found local chapters of NA & AA (narcotics & alcoholics anonymous) and began taking him to each of the meetings daily. Were it not for the guidance/support from both NA & AA, I'm certain I would have lost my son at some point. He just celebrated his 14th birthday, is back in school & actually participates, and has even had one of his friends decide to follow suit and just last night surprised us when he showed up at our nightly NA meeting and asked for help overcoming his addictions. It's so ironic because this kid was my son's biggest drug source for the past year or so. I'm proud of both of them and hope that the example they set will affect others of all ages in a positive fashion.

This book saves lives. If you have never read it, read it now! If you have read it before, you know, so read it again! I will always be grateful to those who wrote this book. I found it in 1991 and have tried to live the spiritual principals found within its pages ever since. So far I have not found a reason important enough to use over, because this book said I never had to use again.

This book will be used at a new meeting in Vallejo, CA. The Where's the Cotton Go! group will read out of it for a book study once a month and help the addict who still suffers find the freedom our program promises.

The book "Narcotics anonymous" was advertised as a 4th edition and was not sent for 2 weeks - when it arrived it was a 5th edition but the seller did the best they could - the book is lovely in its own sense.

I am the chair of a small group. We recently began a book study and many people could not afford to purchase a new book. I looked on Ebay and was able to purchase 6 used books at less than half price of what a new book might cost. Six people were very happy to be able to participate in our book study beause it was all possible through EBAY!!!
