Naked in Death by Nora Roberts (1995, Paperback)

this is the first in death series book. A great book and a good start to the collection. The story is set in New York City in 2058. People travel off earth, prostituion is legal, your cars drives it self, also have auto chefs in youre house car and office. Lt. Eve Dallas is a strong independent homicide detective. In this book she finds her main suspect a billionaire name Roarke. He is an irish man who is charming, rich, and good looking. Eve has now found her match. Roarke didn't have the ideal childhood either and they make the most wonderful couple. Eve Dallas is assigned to a high profile murder investigation that encompases politics, prostitution, and blackmail--engrossing right from the beginning. The chemistry between Dallas and Roarke-- one of the suspects--is aparent from their first meeting. More importantly, the mystery is well constructed and left nothing up in the air. Youll have to buy the book to find out the rest!!!!!

I had read a couple of the J.D. Robb "In Death" series and enjoyed them very much. Then someone told me that I should read them in the order that they were written. Therefore, I proceeded to look for the Naked in Death. Although the police cases are different in each book, the life of the main character builds with the next book. It is especially interesting that Eve, a very good police detective, meets and later marries a multi-millionaire who has a shady past. I have almost all of the books in this series and have read the first five. I also look forward to reading all of them and purchasing more as they are written.

I wasn't sure if I would like the Nora Roberts books written as J.D. Robb. Boy was I wrong. This first book in the series grabs your attention from the get go and I didn't want to put it down until I figured out who did it. Plus the characters of Eve and Roarke are so wonderfully written along with all of the background characters. Nora has created a wonderful series and anyone who is a fan of her writing should check this series out.

I bought this book because I like the series of books. It is very well written as usual for Nora Roberts. I will be buying more of the same in the future.

Great book by an even greater author. This is the first book in a 20+ series about a futuristic police detective. A must have! Great plot, and even greater characters.

started reading the series several years ago and have enjoyed the murder mystery series with a slight sci fi touch. i now have my father interested in the series

Nora Roberts writes very, very well, but she is brilliant when she writes as J.D. Robb. This continuing series, featuring Eve Dallas, Roarke, Peabody, McNab, Summerset, and more in a tight cast of characters, is beautifully done, particularly in the witty repartée of which most of the dialogue consists. These are books you'll read over and over, just to enjoy the relationships and the dialogue.

This book is the first story in a mystery-romance series. The author, "J.D. Robb," is a pen-name for the author "Nora Roberts." The series' lead character, "Lieutenant Eve Dallas," is a Homicide detective. The series is set in a slightly futuristic (50 years) NYC. This book introduces the reader to some of the characters who are central to all the other stories. You do not have to read this story first to enjoy the others; I didn't. But it is fun to get the background of the female and male protagonists.

The author writes a tightly-plotted mystery, with exciting action sequences interwoven with sexually-charged, yet highly romantic scenes. All of the stories in this series are extremely well-written, and are multi-layered. Descriptions of characters, locales, internal workings of different organizations (particularly the NYC police), etc., are all detailed and finely crafted enough to maintain the reader's interest. A character's psyche and motivations may be explored and delineated in several sequential books, but each book is so excellently written that it can stand alone!

In summary, an excellent author, an enjoyable read, and a great mystery series!

I bought this book because it is the first in this murder mystery series and my local library has lost all copies. This will be the 3rd time I've read all the books in the series, if I continue. It's a police procedural, a futuristic view of life, a love story and much more. I enjoyed every one of the books in the ... In Death series and expect them to not disappoint on re-reading. The characters are well drawn, their relationships believable and I find I invest in their success. What more do you want from a book?

However you must be willing to read realistic descriptions of adult sexual activity to completely feel comfortable with this series. After all, JD Robb is Nora Roberts and romance is what she loves to write. I'm more a murder mystery fan, not a romance novel reader, but I'll make an exception gladly for this series about Roarke and Dallas, Lieutenant, Eve. They rock!

The book wasn't in good condition. I decidec to buy the book because J.D. Robb is one of my favorite authors and I am collecting all of her books.

The story starts out somewhat slow but it ends up being an awesome book and series! I have read every one of them in this series. They are filled with action, mystery, passion and romance. I purchased this one to give as a gift to my mom because I know she'll love it too!

It was a good read. I think the out of this world genre is a bit much but if you can read past it the story line is pretty good. I am looking forward to reading more of the series

The Nora Roberts (writing as J.B. Robb) entire "...in Death" series is a GREAT read. Every time I finish one, I can't wait to pick up the next one. Eve Dallas & Rourke are such an extreme power couple you can't get enough of...along with the rest of the usual characters. These books are truly addictive.

This was the 1st book in Nora Roberts 'in death' series, it was great to find out all about the characters in this series. I have read other books in this series and now after reading the 1st book I can now understand the characters that are in all these books.

l love anything by J. B. Robb. l adore her characters, Eve Dallas and Roake. They make me believe romance can be real.
