Naked Lunch (DVD, 2003, Special Edition)

If you like surreal movies, Naked Lunch is a must-see. Doesn't matter if you've read any William Burroughs or not. This is an unabashed exploration of a very weird hallucinatory world, with prominent themes of sexuality, drugs, and the creative process. Just fascinating. It may seem to be extremely odd, but if you listen to Cronenberg's commentary, the pieces will all start to fit together. A great movie. Judy Davis was nominated for an Oscar for her role in this movie!

This movie is amazing! Very strange and beautiful. Based on the novel Naked Lunch by William Burroughs. Directed by David Cronenberg and staring Peter Weller as William Burroughs. This movie is a metaphor for drug addiction. From the strange world of Tangiers located in Interzone, the place Bill hides when high on drugs, and the normal world representing sobriety. Brilliant directing and great actors bring this classic novel of addiction and insanity to life. Very strange, not for the weak stomached, narrow minded or easily offended.

Cronenberg worked with Burroughs to collaborate the books Exterminator, Junky and Naked Lunch into one unforgettable tale!

Excellent movie and would definately recommend it expecially if you if you like things that are a bit odd.

Director David Cronenberg brings William S. Burroughs' hallucinatory, "unfilmable" novel to the screen. Part-time exterminator and full-time drug addict Bill Lee (Peter Weller) plunges into the nightmarish netherworld of the Interzone, pursuing a mysterious project that leads him to confront sinister cabals and giant talking bugs.
