NYPD Blue - Season 1 (DVD, 2003, 6-Disc Set)

I love this show and needed to review it from square 1. I love David Caruso and I wanted to relive the BEST season of NYPD blue. Most people have forgotten the excellence of the cast and writing of the original episodes in the wake of so many cast changes.

Well, I purchased NYPD Blue because I liked David Caruso. Have seen many CSI Miami Seasons and was anxious to see him in this program. However, since he doesn't stick around long in NYPD Blue, I decided to keep buying CSI Miami. Jimmy Smits is a great actor also and does a marvelous job replacing David Caruso's character.

I really don't care much for this show because this is when shows became nasty. I like family oriented.

GREAT. NYPD Blues brought drama that at the time was strictly only shown on cable.It start the trend for prime time viewing that followed.The cursing,the nudity, the graphic violences is the first thing that catches your eye but if the quality wasn't as good as it was it would not have lasted the test time like it has.Det. Bill Clark who was story consultant for the first season was in his own right a highly decorated NYC police det. for 24 years. His experiences led to alot of the story lines in the show which made it so realistic compare to other police shows on T.V. at the time.Supposely Andy Sipowisit character was model after him and played with such zeal by Dennis Franz. I think what separate season 1 from all the other season was David Caroso, like him or hate him you never ever ignore him. He was a presence on the small screen that could not be replaced.I also like the characters play by Sherry Stringfield and Amy Brennaman. Great show all around.

I ALWAYS LIKE THIS SERIES SO NOW I ORDERED SEASON 1& 2.I CAN'T WAIT TO RECIEVE IT IN THE MAIL SO I CAN WATCH IT.

I bought this because I'm an NYPD Blue junkie. Truthfully season 1 is my least favorite of the early seasons, mostly because of the character played by David Caruso. However, it does give us one of the great lines in TV history when Dennis Franz utters "Ipso this you pissy little bitch" You must get this DVD series to be complete.

This was an excellent, highly addictive series. Viewing Season I, its easy to see why David Caruso was (wrongly) considered star material, and how Dennis Franz came to surpass him in public regard.

If you put a disc in your DVD player, be prepared to stay a while because you will want to watch two or three or more episodes per sitting. You have been warned.

I love this show's gritty, street tough attitude. I bought it because I am a fan of David Caruso and I wanted to relive the BEST season of NYPD blue. Most people have forgotten how cutting edge this show was for 1992. It was considered and should still be very racy for network television.

Not the best season for NYPD, but for true "Blue" fans, it is a must-have for your collection. Pilots for shows in general are usually not the best, but even during the first season of NYPD Blue, you can see the progression in writing and acting. Usual late 80's or early 90's cop show corniness, but still fun to watch.

First, IMHO, NYPDBlue is just about the best cop drama that was ever on commerical television. So, that right there is reason enough to begin collecting all the seasons'. But, my reason for buying it is perhaps a bit different from other folks' reason. We are planning to retire to paradise in less than two years. Now, paradise is wonderful, but we don't really expect to be able to receive much American television there (foreign language, you see). So, I have begun to amass as many seasons' worth of some of our favorite television series on DVD as I can, so we'll always have something to watch. My minimal goal is to have every year of NYPDBlue in hand on moving day.
