NHL 2K9 (Wii, 2008)

I received this for Christmas and I love it. It definently takes some getting used to, but once you get the hang of it, you will probably love it. It has plenty of options, with pond hockey, mini-rink hockey, coaching abilities, management abilities, and playing options. There is even an option to drive the Zamboni around during intermissions. The announcers can become repititive and the music can be too. The theme from "Cops" is played after every penalty call and can get old quickly. Take control of your team by signing and trading players, sending them to the minors, or calling them up to the NHL. Facial details of the players are not anything special, but the fact the goalies have the same masks in the games as they do in reality is very cool. During shootouts you control the goalie-you can stack the pads, go butterfly, poke check, and more, but the matching the Nunchuk and Wiimote to the display on the screen could be better. Different players have different deke moves so it is interesting to see just what everyone can do (Ovechkin has a very nice deke move!). The schedules for 08/09 in the game are the same as the schedules in real life. I just started a season, and the control of the team you have is excellent. It would make any hockey fan excited.

My husband and I purchased NHL 2K9 for the Wii, for our 10 year old son. He and his friends absolutely loved the game. They continue to play every day after school. We will definetly buy from this distributer again as the transaction went very smoothly. Many thanks.

excellent graphics and simulation both my 4 yo and 8 yo have a blast playing the game one of the best game graphics i have seen on the wii

Everything is same as actual NHL and I feel like I'm watching a NHL broadcast.
I like that it supports up to 4 players.

Well I bought this idem for my sons Birthday and waited for 2 weeks and still yet to get it. I have emailed this person 6 times and they will email me back. I had to go and buy this game at the store so my son got it for his B-day

This is the second try for this game. Both had the same problem - a loud buzzing that prevents you from playing the game. I googled the problem and learned that it's very common.

If you really (and I mean really) want a hockey game for your Wii and you can't wait until EA decides to release a game, then by all means, buy this game. BUT know that it poorly designed, backdated on the graphics and the menus are sub-par (plus its to my understanding that the roasters can't be automatically updated online.)

If you think you're getting a comparable product to NHL 2009 for Xbox 360 or PS3, you're really not. Not even close.

But any hockey game is fun, so I'm sure you'll enjoy it, as long as you aren't expecting a lot.

I bought it knowing the above and it's entertaining, but I'd prefer to have NHL 2009.

Great game with great graphics! Highly recommend for hockey fans... a little advanced for younger kids...get the WII kids hockey for them.

It is the Wii's first effort for hockey and it has failed in my opinion. I've played the NHL series for years on ps2 and the 2k series on 360 and loved them. This one lacks gameplay, graphics, everything in my book.

The game play and shooting with wii remote are fun but the controls do take a little getting used to because you use both hands. Once you get the hang of it's fun and easy to play. The graphics are lacking a little but if your a hockey fan you should like this game. I like the wrist and snapshots with the wii remote.
