NHL 09 (Playstation 3, 2008)

Finally a game the feels realistic and is fun to play. The biggest advantage is that there is a tutorial that takes you step by step through the controls...great for us non expert players.. Also love the option to use the basic controls from NHL 94...(heck even Grandma can get into it that way)

I love that this is my first hockey game I bought with Sidney "the great" Crosby, evgene malkin, marc-andre fleury and the rest of the pittsburgh penguins. i cant wait to see how the graphic are in this game. I have heard the graphic r sick and when i play the suck ass flyers im gonna hip check danny briere and jeff carter into the boards and knock them out when they wanna fight

Sometimes the AI releases the puck to my player or down the ice by itself whereby I hadn't pressed any button. (I don't know if some setting is causing this.) So much fun that even though I get scored on and/or lose it's still fun. Why EA, the last four editions of NHL, hasn't allowed Stanley Cup Playoffs to be accessed right away where you play an opponent in the same room as you and not having to play only the AI (w/o having to play a season), I don't know. You used to be able to go right into playoff mode with a buddy with single game advance/elimination.

I'm not a huge Hockey fan, I can name about 5 teams and probably even less players. What I am a huge fan of is Sports games and this to me is better than Madden! The graphics, game play and competitiveness are off the charts. I haven't done it yet but it shows up to 12 players can play online, how cool is that?! If you want proof, download the demo at the Playstation store and you'll see what I mean.

Excellent graphics, the new hitting engine in this game is 10x better than any other version of the game. Very realistic on a HD TV. Suggested buy to everyone who is thinking about it!

I love the be a pro mode and you get to make your own player and customize his equipment. It's GREAT!!!

This game is awesome! Playing online against other people is very addicting. Graphics are awesome too!

NHL 09 is probably the most realistic sports video game out there, next to the upcoming MLB 09: The Show.

great game they really fine tuned game play. little harder at first but once you get the hang of it you'll love it.

I'm not a huge hockey fan, but I love this game. It's one of the most fun games I've played on PS3. It has just about everything you can ask for in a hockey game. My only complaint is the lack of a multiplayer dynasty. That's a must for next year's version. Also, in the one player dynasty, a second player cannot play against you, only on your team, which is a drag also. But overall this game is an A and I'm glad I bought it.

I'm not a big fan of hockey but this game is awesome! The graphics are better on this then any sport game I've ever played! The movement and controls are better then any sport game I've ever played! I'm so used to playing Madden that this game makes Madden look peewee! If you love sport games this is a must buy!!!

Graphics are outstanding - takes awhile to get use of the new controls - stick, skating and hitting different. Love 'Be a Pro' - able to set yourself into the game and earn your way into the NHL.

If your looking for a good NHL game to buy NHL 09 is it. First off the graphics are just outstanding and the animations add a more in depth personal feel to the game. I found that this was the most realistic hockey video game that i have ever played in my whole life.

All the stores were sold out and price was much higher ebay got it to me in 3 days and much cheaper the free shipping was a big choice for me also

Awesome game! I cant get over the graphics. there amazing even down to the little details such as the ice condition after skating. This game is extremely frustrating at first because it was so hard to score. Soon enough, just like many sports games, I began scoring multiple times a game. Now I have no life because NHL 09 had consumed me.

One of the better hockey games I've played in awhile but also has MANY flaws. The control scheme is VERY simplistic which makes for alot of errors and mishaps(penalties.) Because so many commands come from the right joystick it will OFTEN do one you didnt want. The passing needs improvement too, you'll press to pass to the guy in front of you and your guy will simply chuck it into the wall behind him.. Online play is what it is for an EA game on the free Playstation Network. Many disconnects which result in a loss, even if you were winning, plus it increases your DNF%(did not finish/disconnect) Overall I enjoy playing it but I also see MANY flaws. If I was a bigger hockey fan I think I'd lose my mind with anger playing this, the way I do with Madden. So(from the casual gamer point) I give this a 6.5/10.

It is an amazing game!! You can play a bunch of new things online and it is a great replay value... MUST HAVE!!!

the game is sweet but has few internet glithes that need to be worked out and the graphics could be better.

I really like the realism of playing this game, graphics are awesome as well. I rented the game first to see if I would enjoy playing it, a week later this purchased showed up in my mailbox. Now I can play anytime I want. NHL09 all the way.
