NGC Grading Guide For Modern U.S. Coins by David Lange,

Great book, I recently purchase PHOTO GRADE, the book is all in gray scans no detail with terrible examples of old school grading up to extra fine.........
I bought this book to expand my understanding of the grading system... How ever we are in the MS grading system which they wont give any examples of...Although there are no pictures of grading examples there is a wealth of info on 1965 to date coins as well as documented submissions into NGC for the various grades. It does describe the opinionated reasons for the ms grading system which is far better than any other book which give you no clue to why they assign grades we can't understand, you have to pay for the grading which takes the profit from you. Still there is more to learn......there needs to be a book for the collector to truely know and understand what exactly determines the difference between MS grading....Unfortunately thats what keeps the grading systems in operation....and that's a SAD THING!!!
Still if your looking for some info on coins and grading, AND some good info in coinage and varieties, this book acknowledges a lot. I recommend it especially for the money!!!
INFO is important for a collector,
I highly recommend the book over any book for coin values which are highly subjective!!! knowledge is the key, hope this will help you, it has me, still there is more to know but this is a great start. thx for viewing hope I have helped you....G
