NBA 2K6 (Xbox 360, 2005)

First thing said, I haven't played NBA Live 2006. So I can't compare the two. Second, I have never been a big fan of the 2002 and after NBA Live games.

This game is hands down the best sim basketball game out there. The graphics are great on the whole. The crowd animations could have been better but I think that they are a step-up from the previous NBA2K series.

The rules "sliders" in the game are a great help and allow the game to be customized by any skill level player. I love how the nuances of the game can be adjusted. From touch fouls to difficulty dunking in the lane with traffic.

This is a great sports game and I feel the 2K games have 1 up-ed the EA sports games for the 360 with their early installments.

when the marketing groups for nba 2k6 raved about this game i fell in love!! too bad i was disapointed when i first played it! so many features are left out of this game that their is just too many to list here. the graphics are good.. BUT not "next generation" good. i wish they would have taken more time with this game, but i feel that they rushed it to meet the deadlines. overall its a ok game, but id wait for the nba 2k7, hopefully theyll take their time with the new and do it right. its worth the money its selling for, but barely.

I've played NBA Live 2006, and I hated it. Gameplay is super-slow(even with a turbo button)and all you can do is play exhibition and season games. No dunk contest, no all-star weekend.
NBA 2k6 is a great game, first of all, because of the graphics. They are amazing!Another reason is the solid gameplay. It isnt slow or unrealistic, but is completly accurate. Steve Nash plays like Steve Nash, and Kobe plays like Kobe. The only thing wrong with 2K6 is the coaches. 2K Sports failed to bring next-gen graphics to the coaches. They look like the Xbox version. But, aside from that, it is also a more diverse game. For example, it has an all new street mode. It is so much fun to play. VIP System: brings an extremely realistic feel to the game.
Live '06 is more of an arcade game,(unrealistic)like NBA JAM or something. Everyone dribbles and shoots the same. Faders are Faders, Dunks are Dunks. But with 2K6, it focuses on the style of play each player brings to the court.
Plus- it is $20 cheaper!

even though the nba season is almost over this game is still awesome. the gm mode is pretty fun. but online is where its at. with barely any lag at all, just about all games flow flawlessly. beware of crybabys on online though haha.

Nba 2k6 consists of great graphics and solid gameplay , but that is about it. From what I hear it is just a carry-over from the xbox version. If it was for xbox or ps2 it would be a great game, but since it is for xbox 360 I would expect more. There are several game modes and many options you can tweak. The online play is very solid also. The main theme of the game is realism. I found it pretty hard to rack up a ton of points with any one player and it is a little harder to beat up on the cpu this time around. My one petpieve that I have to get off my chest is that although the star players look ultra-realistic, some players look awful e.g dwayne wade and chris duhon look like their hair is painted on. In conclusion I would pay 40$ max for this very average game.

This is one of the easiest games to get 1000 gamer points. All you need to do is to turn your teams stats up and destroy the computer. it will only take 5mins to get all five of these achievements.

This game along with the 2007 and 2008 are much better then the rival NBA Live. This game is alot more fun to play and its a bit simpler. Another great thing is the graphics. The graphics are comparable to games today.

i was desperate to play a basketball game and this was cheap and i jump right on it, other prices were out of my price ranfe at the time so this was the perfect grab.

I decided to buy this game #1 because it was a good deal and #2 because it is fun to play. The game play is excellent and the graphics are good. The only 2 things that I dislike about this game are the crappy hip hop music during the menu screens and that the steal button is the RS button instead of the X button like the 2K7 College Hoops is set up. Other than that if you are looking for a fun NBA game to play then this is a good choice.

I have foregone paying the $50-$60 for new games, so when '07 comes out, I'll pick up '06. The game is outstanding, player control and realism is supurb and the competition and multiplayer is top rate. There is only one item of concern; when connected to X-BOX Live; for some reason after playing a game (not completing the acheivements required), it automatically gives you 4 of the 5 for your X-BOX Live score and racks up a bunch of unearned crib points (not that I am complaining). So if you are a player who wants to earn all his achievements yourself, this glitch may mess you up. Although, I care less, I am in it for the gameplay and online matches WHICH ARE WITHOUT A DOUBT A+.

This is definatly the best NBA game i've ever played despite the fact that it is a year old now. I originally bought NBA 06 but it was awful because it didn't have a career mode (which is the only reason I play NBA games). At $17 this is definatly the best game i've bought so far for my 360.

By the way the graphics are insane.

NBA 2k6 is the best basketball game I have ever played and it should be considering it is one of the first on the Xbox 360. The only place it is lacking is the graphics, but that is expected when it isn't a true xbox 360 game (made for more then just next gen. consoles). Anyone off the court (the crowd, coach, cheerleaders) all look like previous gen graphics.

I have NBA 2k6 version on both 360 and ps2. You can really tell the difference between them (not in just graphics either). The gameplay is must smoother allowing you to play all day and not get bored. This game is very addicting for the first 6 months you have it. The players also have a lot more moves in the lane then the PS2 version. The jerseys are probly the most graphical upgrade, although there is a glitch in the game where the jersey disappears for a while.

Each player has there own moves that only they can do. Take Shaq for instance, Shaw can do about 4 post moves no other player can do. Each players free throw form is also different, but there are is a glitch there too. When shooting free throws with Brian Grant or Alonzo Mourning the ball is not placed correctly on their hands making it had to get the right release.

The dynasty mode is what the game is all about. It is just so fun playing the off season; drafting players, player retiring, signing high profile free agents. Dynasty mode is a much better experience though when you take one of the worse teams in the NBA. This gives it a challenge.

Overall This Is a Solid Game.

I bought NBA 2k6 a few weeks ago, and I think I got a very good game of basketball for my money. I love the atmosphere that the game has to it. It really kinda makes you want to play basketball. I also love all of the options and features that the game has to offer. As is the norm with a 2K Sports title, the game is rich in atmosphere, options, and alot of extra bells and whistles.

The thing I dislike the most about the game is its control system. The controls are good, just not great. Again, as is the norm with a 2K Sports game, the control scheme just isn't as good or as smooth or as fluid as its competition's. Sometimes I think the people at 2K try to be too innovative for their own good (and for the good of their games), and I feel that is the case again here with NBA 2k6. I wish they would stop trying to re-invent the wheel and just come up with a good, solid, fluid control scheme that works and stick with it. Again, the controls are serviceable, and certainly this game can and does provide a good game of basketball. It's just that I know there are better control setups out there, so I get kinda frustrated with this one sometimes.

Overall, this is a very good game and is definitely worth a purchase for any NBA fan, provided that you can deal with its controls.

The best basketball game ever made so far. I can't wait to purchase 2K7 to see what you can possibly do to improve this game. Stunning graphics and excellent game play. If you are a fan of basketball you must play this game. EA sports again has failed to even come close to the 2K product line.

NBA 2k5 is my favorite basketball game ever, not only because the graphics were great (at the time the game was released,) but the soundtrack, presentation, and gameplay were outstanding. So when I heard that NBA 2K6 was coming to the Xbox 360, I thought the game was going to follow the same fantastic formula that made 2K5 a top notch game. Well, to put it shortly, I was very disappointed. First off, the biggest thing that I noticed was that the license with ESPN didn't carry over so the game menus and presentation are very plain, and in my opinion, difficult to navigate through. The next thing I noticed was that the right analog stick, which was used for iso-motion (crossing over, spin moves, and all other fancy footwork) in 2K5, has been turned into a shot stick! I find it incredibly dumb to have both a button and an analog stick doing the same job, and most of the time the shot stick is impossible to use. The last negative thing I have to say is that the graphics are a HUGE letdown. I have played the game on both a HDTV and a standard tube and the results were that on the HDTV the game looks slightly better that 2K5, and I am emphasizing slightly. On the standard tube the game looks the same and in some cases worse than 2k5. So what are the positives to the game? Well the game is just as deep as 2K5 with association mode, season mode, updated rosters, and a new feature where you create a street baller and take him to the top (Warning! The Commentary is HORRIFIC for the street baller feature, if you buy the game mute the commentators voice or risk going insane!). All in all the game really isn't bad, but with NBA Live 2006 out there, I would not recommend getting it. Although, NBA Live does have an arcade feel to it compared with the simulation style of NBA 2K6, so 2K6 might be the game for you.

I have been turned off to the NBA Live series for a while now because I don't particularity like the camera angles and game menus, but NBA Live 2006 BLEW ME AWAY. First the game menu is Fantastic! Instead of a boring menu which you navigate through, as soon as the game starts a simulation basketball court pops up then a player visualizes and you can shoot hoops right there and then! Any time you want to jump into a game you just use the D-pad to navigate a simple menu at the bottom of the screen. The graphics are right where the should be for a 360 launch title, meaning that they are improved and give you a next-gen feel. The one thing I did always miss when I played the 2K series was the dunk button. I never realized how much I missed it until I started throwing down rediculous dunks on everybody. So what about the camera angles? I still do not like them but they are not really all that bad, and the more you play the more you get used to them. All in all NBA Live 2006 is a far better game then NBA 2K6. Only remember, that NBA Live has a real arcade feel, while NBA 2K6 is a straight up simulation.

Awesome graphics, especially if you have a tv that support 1080i/720p.
You can see the players sweat, unlike live 06. Great street mode,also
great association mode. The only problem I see is when you take a free-throw.
Just like 2K5, barely any improvement on the controls. Otherwise, this game's
rosters are fully updated. And overall, ten thumbs up!!!!!

Its an excellent all around game that doesnt excell at one area. The game is very deep and the defense is very good. Online tournaments are very fun also.

it has great graphics the players jerseys actually move and that is cool and why does everybody care about the sweat i think it is kinda nasty i im glad that it has dynasty unlike nba live 06 that is y i give nba 2k6 a 5 out of 5

The best basketball game I played so far!!! Customs players, teams, street ball its got it all!!!! If you like B-Ball this is the game to have!! Dont even try EA it doesnt even compare!!!!!!!
