As if any set of four MST3K episodes weren't enough to make you laugh out loud, this set has a classic Godzilla episode that the guys at Rhino didn't quite work out the permisions they needed. As such, if you can et your hands on this set, you get the opportunity to be bad.

Far safer than running with scissors, far more satisfying that taking candy from a baby and more enjoyable than making your face stick that way... though it might from laughing too much.

  Great Collection

This tenth collection of the cult-favorite "Mystery Science Theater 3000" TV show brings together a pleasing array of films and episodes as well as more extras than have been seen in previous sets.

Godzilla Vs. Megalon is a terrific piece of bad special effects and dialog that is just ripe for the MST3K mocking treatment. The Ultraman ripoff, Jet Jaguar adds to the stellar lineup of the two title characters and I believe the lack of rights to it were the reason for this box set being pulled by the publisher, making it an even more precious gem.

Swamp Diamonds has "Mannix" himself, (Mike "Touch" Conner) as a male lead who spends most of the movie kidnapped at the hands of the women convicts who, in typical Roger Corman exploitation greatness, deem it necessary to turn their prison dungarees into Daisy Duke short shorts in order to help their getaway somehow. The Douglas boys's from "My Three Sons" stepmon, Beverly Garland, plays a mean but of course hot, gang member and the short that precedes it, "What to do on a Date" is all out hilarity from beginning to end to anyone who loves 50s "educational" mind-control movies.

Teenage Strangler seems set in the idyllic 50s with it's soda shoppe, drag racing, leather jacketed gangs and rock-N-roll music, and you think you are watching a real slice of life from that era, but then people start talking about the BEATLES and your realize this was made in 1964 and is just dumb. Mikey, the little brother who is supposed to be nerdy but is obvious to anyone that he is just really, really gay, is the funniest thing in the movie.

Giant Spider Invasion is probably our family's favorite of all on here. With lines like "..and somewhere, a helicopter.. exists." and "Vance, I'm only wearing one pantsuit!" it's a really winner as far as awful movies that are fun to make fun of go.

Along with two shorts, a video "jukebox" of songs from the show and a blooper reel (Poopie 2), the extras are superb on this set and no clinkers in the movies or episodes.

  Great MST3K Episodes!

Like, love: Two of their better episodes: (Godzilla/Megalon & Giant Spider Invasion), fabulous riffs and great fun! Two of the lesser episodes: (Swamp Diamonds & Teenage Strangler), but still sooooooo far ahead of other comedic efforts these days. Nice extra features too! The original songs from the show deserve their own DVD, this one only displays a few of them. Well worth the money.
Dislike: TOO SHORT!! Wish they had all of the season(s) on DVD!

  MST 3K Vol. 10
Review created: 10/24/07

This volume went out of circulation very soon after it hit the market so I have been looking for a copy since then. The episodes contained in Vol 10 are very funny and there were a couple I had not seen before. This helps round out my collection.

The real tragedy about this collection being discontinued is that "The Giant Spider Invasion" is probably one of the two funniest episodes of MST3K (Prince of Space being the other). Granted, the other episodes in this set aren't the best, but it would be worth paying the retail price for just Giant Spider Invasion. As for the unbelievably high price it's fetching now that it's out of print, well I suppose it depends on how big a collector you are (since all of these episodes are available for download for free through the Digital Archive Project).

  Don't do it

I'm a life-long MST3K fan, one who owns every episode either by buying them through Rhino or recording them myself when they were still on. The episodes offered here are not worth paying 100 plus dollars. True, mediocre MST3K is still funnier then most things that have ever been on TV, but I just can't tell you you're going to be happy if you pay over a hundred clams for these particular episodes. Sure, if it were final Sacrifice, Puma Man, Time Chasers and Space Mutiny all on one, maybe it would be worth it. But not for these. If Rhino no longer sells these, that probably means people who have the same episodes taped off TV can probably legally sell them now, so check that out...

This is the infamous MST3K Volume 10 pulled from shelves shortly after its release . Apparently there were rights issues. That being said, you should expect to pay more than list price but its worth it. I mean, c'mon MSTies!: its Gamera!

Two knocks on wood that the rights issues don't deter Rhino from releasing more volumes (with more Joel episodes)! Though it'll probably will be the last time they try and option a Gamera movie - really too bad...

My whole family LOVES the MST3K series and this DVD volume collection is great! There are 2 Joel episodes and 2 Mike's, and the movies are so bad but hilarious! There's even an extra Juke box featurette which has a few musical numbers from the show. I highly reccomend this set of DVD's for any MST3K fans!

  One of the best collections.
Review created: 12/03/06

This is by far one of the best Mystery Science theater collections that's been released. "Godzilla vs. Megalon" and "Teen-Age Strangler" were my favorites off this set, though the other two "Swamp Diamonds" and "The Giant Spider Invasion" are still both really funny episodes.

"Godzilla vs. Megalon" would be almost watchable without the MST3K commentary, making it an easy to watch episode. Joel and the bots really have fun with this episode. With boys in short shorts and strange hairy white men wearing togas and tiaras, there's no end to the hilarity.

"Teen-Age Strangler" has a character (Mikey) that reminds me of Troy, the whiney-voiced star of "The Final Sacrifice" (the episode with Rowsdower). This movie is filled with scenes of innocent kids being accused of murder, and the kids immediately making plans to skip town and run from the cops. That's what normal innocent people do after all, right? This episode also features a song that is [sadly] pretty catchy.

Beverly Garland and Roger Corman return in "Swamp Diamonds". The main character in this movie is an undercover female cop that looks like a man. Seriously. This cop joins in a prison escape with the three [crazy] female thieves (one of whom is Beverly Garland) to trudge through a swamp to find out where they hid their stolen goods. The scene in this movie that really stands out to me occurs in the swamp, where a girl is thrown into the swamp to get eaten by an alligator. However, every time they cut to this girl who is supposed to be in the swamp water, it is obvious that she is actually in a swimming pool. Awesome.

"The Giant Spider Invasion". Giant spiders attack Wisconsin! This movie has some great dialog, including, "You're so dumb you wouldn't know rabbit turds from Rice Krispies." This is definitely another hilarious episode, and definitely one that fans of old B horror movies will appreciate. The cut scenes in this episode are SO funny.

Overall, this is one of my favorite boxed MST3K sets. There are some great episodes to watch with people that have never seen MST3K before, because they are easy to watch and incredibly funny without needing too much context. "Poopie 2" which is a funny bunch of outtakes, is also included on one of the episodes.
