Will not play in XP, I had to send mine back to dreamcatcher Interactive, in Canada. They said it was miss printed, and they were sorry, but from the little I started to see it looked like a great game

  The Mystery of the Nautilus
Review created: 10/12/09

I purchased this game and was really disappointed. The game will install and start to play but by the 3rd word of intro it freezes. I investigated this on the internet and found that this has been the case from its inception. Adventure company and Dreamcatcher Games have no patch and will not help. DO NOT BUY!!!!!!

Pros:
Somewhat based off of the story.

Cons:
Story is trite, hard to locate items, etc.

Whilst working with the guys over at Netjak.com, Search tells me, "Hey, the folks over at Dreamcatcher are sending us some games, you wanna review 'em?" I say, "Sure." Free games are always fun. One of the games I got sent was this, Mystery of the Nautilus. I specifically requested this because I kinda liked the book, and there was also that really funny sketch on Saturday Night Live where Kelsey Grammar plays Captain Nemo. Story You're a scientist on board the USS Shark. You're mapping the sea floor when you come across a big object. The Captain denies you the opportunity to look at the item.

Pros:
Graphics aren't bad, story is OK

Cons:
One of the most frustrating games ever

My wife bought me this game because she thought I'd find it interesting. I'm not a big-time gamer. I run a very old PC and I have a total of 10 games in my library, but when I do play, I prefer to enjoy it. Mystery of the Nautilus could have been very enjoyable had it not been for one particular major flaw. The setting is rich with potential, and the submarine in which the entire game is played is beautifully designed. The first thing I realized when I started playing was that this was a puzzle game - find out why component "A" doesn't work, find the parts to fix it, and get it working. Move..
