Mystery! - The Inspector Lynley Mysteries 4 - Box Set (DVD, 2006, 4-Disc Set)

Excellent story lines in each of the four discs. I do not think these were actual books by Elizabeth George but the plots are like what she would write with Havers and Lynley being the central characters. The English idiom continues to be difficult to understand at times, but since these are DVDs you can replay as needed to get understanding of the words. These stories seem to be true to the developing relationship between the lead characters which, I think, is every bit as important as the solving of the murders and is what keeps these stories interesting.

Very well written and smart. Relationship between the two key characters works very well. We now own all of the episodes that are available in the U.S., and can hardly wait for the next season to come out on DVD...will buy it immediately. The Inspector Lynley Mysteries are by far my favorite mysteries available.

Rented a series from the library and liked it so well I order a series. If you love to see the English countryside and like a moderate mystery then you will appreciate the movies.........Usually you can't figure out who did it, and that is the fun of Lynley........

These mysteries are fascinating. Not really swashbuckling, but very clever.
Not only do you follow the mysteries through to their often surprising ending,
but throughout you are shown the scenery from all different areas of England.
Being English this makes them even more entertaining.
The other aspect that I like is the way that Lynley is upper class and has one set of mores, and Havers being working class has quite another set of values.
I would recommend these mysteries for anyone who likes a very good whodunnit.
