  THE Black Metal classic album
Review created: 07/09/08
by:

A piece of obscure black metal, the way it meant to be, unique piece of dark art.
Cold riffing, majestic work on the drums, unique histrionic vocals, a total must for any serious black metal collector.

  De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas
Review created: 10/03/07

A quintessential Black Metal album from the early 90's; This is the band's only true studio piece, despite Dead having committed suicide just prior, replaced by Atilla. With Varg Vikernes 'secretly' playing bass, Euronymous on guitar, and Hellhammer pounding on the drums, this Black Metal album is a masterpiece. If this isn't in your music collection, you're missing out.

Good Sound + Evil Lyrics = Good Mayhem!

I've just finished listening to this album just now, and I've enjoyed the studio recordings rather than the sound of the live performance on "Live in Leipzig" with Dead on vocals (no disrespect to the ledgend). I loved the studio versions of "Freezing Moon", "Pagan Fears", "Buried by Time and Dust", ect. However, there was just a tad of complaints. First, I wish Dead was still alive for this recording, Attila was decent enough, but I perfer Dead's vocals, because he sounded...DEAD. And second, despite good bass sounds from Varg "Count Grishnackh" Vikernes, It was not loud enough. Anyway, this is one of many must-haves for any Mayhem or Black Metal fans or musicians (like me)!
