Myst 10th Anniversary DVD Edition (PC Games, 2003)

The DVD holds 3 games. Exiled worked perfectly after installation. Riven required a small amount of tweaking (I had to shut down one of my dual monitors). Myst never worked. I contacted their support, and they offered me very limited solutions. When I tried them all and nothing worked, they stopped responding. I finally found a gaming site that had an online version that I could use. Really a shame that such a highly acclaimed software house would provide such sloppy support for their products. If you think you can fix it yourself, go ahead and try. Otherwise, don't go here.

The discs shipped in a timely manner.
The set contains 3 discs. Two of the 3 discs do not work. When I reported this to the seller he made no overtures of compensation.

neither MYST nor RIVEN run under XP OS out of the box on my new pc with 3G RAM.
tech support at UBISOFT is of limited help.
the 3rd game, EXILE, runs as advertised, under XP.

I had the original games and had some trouble with those locking up my system even after running them in compatibility mode. I have Vista now and can run everything that I ran on XP. After installing Myst it worked perfectly for me. then I installed Riven and had trouble with it locking up my system. I installed riven on a machine in another room that is running XP and it runs much better even though it stopped running after about 1 hour. I have not installed Exile yet to see if it works on Vista. With the original Riven you had to swap out disc's alot while playing. With the DVD Version you don't swap anything because everything is on one DVD which is much better. I will keep trying to tweak Riven with Vista to get it working better but it may not run well on Vista.

If you like solving puzzles and you don't mind sitting around and trying anything and everything to beat a game. This is for you. The puzzles can be extremely ridiculous, but that's also what makes it fun. It's not unbeatable just takes patience.Graphics are great FOR ITS OWN TIME. Totally worth every penny.

Some of the most beautiful graphics I've ever seen in a PC game. Not easy to solve and I've yet to make it completely through any of the parts of the game but I love playing it and trying to solve the puzzles.

Shipped quickly and arrived as advertised. This is a fine old game. Plays well on XP. Requireing a one hundred word rating is somewhat stupid. I don't have 100 things to say about a purchase than good.

What can I say; it's Myst!! I mainly bought this version to get Riven on DVD and it is definitely worth not having to use 5 separate CDs to play it. Riven works on Windows Vista, however it does freeze occasionally on my computer so I was constantly saving my game while I played. I'm still trying to get Myst Masterpiece to work, so far I get a blank screen when I try to play it. Exile works just fine on Vista as well. Keep in mind this set was made for 98 and XP but it performs o.k. on Vista. If you've never played Myst before this is the best way to get introduced to the series because once you play Myst you'll be eager to see what evolves in Riven and Exile. It also has the making of each of the games on the DVDs, which is a plus. Other than that there isn't anything particularly collectable about it, but to an avid collector it's a must have. Great set though, and an awesome value!!!!!
