The MySims (Wii, 2007)

As a huge fan of Simulation games, I couldn't resist diving into the Wii's attempt at a Sims genre. While it has some very unique aspects, it turns out to be a very simplified version of other classic Sims game...

+++ POSITIVES +++

+ Cute graphics - the super-deformed characters are a unique twist to the Sims genre than the human-like characters we're used to.

+ Lots To Do - Make no mistake, you'll be busy in this game. People are always asking you to perform tasks for them and to help spruce up the town. At any given time, you could have half-a-dozen things to do.

+ Lots To Discover - At first, it seems that the limits of the town will quickly bore you, but as the game advances, LOTS of areas unlock for you to explore and discover! A great incentive to keep playing!

+ Laid Back - One thing that I didn't like in previous Sims games was time constraints. In My Sims, several days can elapse with no consequences. Your Sim doesn't need to eat or sleep, which allows you to go at your own pace. This is nice if you need to set the controller down to go do something else and come back several minutes later.

--- NEGATIVES ---

- Slow Loading Time - This is my biggest pet peeve of the game. Just moving from inside to outside, you'll wait anywhere from 5 to 20 seconds for it to reload. It felt like waiting for Sims 2 on my slow PC computer.

- Numerous Glitches - There are several spots in the game where the animations will stall or skip frames, making it appear choppy. C'mon this is supposed to be an advanced gaming system which should avoid things like that (and the slow loading time)!

- Limited Dialogue - While the graphics may seem Animal Crossing-esque, there is typically only a few lines that any one person will converse with you. Fortunately, there are lots of chracters, so this isn't much of a problem, at first.

- Critical Sims Themes Missing - Part of the fun was to try and juggle the many things of your Sim that humans do in real life, like sleeping, eating, getting a job, making money, and even going to the bathroom! All of these aspects are missing from My Sims, which makes it a bit more laid back, but makes the challenge a bit too easy.

OVERALL:

While other Sims games focus on helping Sims live out their lives (in the complex way that we all do), My Sims is more focused on task-management and architecture than the social aspect of everday life. In other words, while other Sims games may feel like real-life for some, My Sims feels more like an ordinary game.

If you've played previous Sims games and found them to be a bit to overwhelming, you may find the right mix in My Sims. If you're a hardcore Sims player who wants to challenge an complexity that other Sims games offer, you won't find it here...

I did not particularily like this game at all. When I first bought it, I was under the impression that it would be like the other sims game, which would have been great. Instead, it is nothing at all like any sim game I have ever played. I think its an insult to even call this a Sims game. The main reason why i didn't like this game was the gameplay. Unlike the other sims games, you don't have to manage your sim. For example, there are no stats involved like fun, hunger, social, hygiene, etc. You don't have to eat, sleep, shower or anything. You can't get a job, you can't upgrade your house, or get married. The main thing you do is create furniture and housing for the people of the town. It was a good idea, but it becomes very repetitive. It is cool though that you can build and fully customize your own furniture by connecting smaller pieces and shapes together, but I found this to get boring quickly. Another thing that I really didn't like were the graphics. They were very childish looking and I felt stupid playing it, and embarrassed if my friends saw me playing it. Overall I thought this game only deserves a below average rating due the the disatisfaction I experienced with it.

What I like about this game is that you can use your imagination to build everything and anything that you would like to. You can also steal others furniture that you like and copy it and or change it. The essences are pretty neat also as you find chess pieces ruby's and jewelry pieces, arcade games, crayons etc..... It is just a lot of fun to dig up or fish these items up.
What I do not like about this game is that the loading time takes forever. I honestly do not enjoy building as much as running the sims lives and this game is almost entirely building with very little relationship aspect.
So why four stars? Honestly I do not know. I did not originally like the game but kept on playing i until 3 stars. Now I am truly addicted to it. So Since I normally give the sims 5 stars I will just drop one for the initial dislike!

I have had this game as of 9-23-07, and have played it for 4.5 hrs. I do enjoy building items for the people who want to move into my town, I like prospecting, thats a new thing I didnt even know about. I like finding 'essences' which makes certain sims more happy with the item you build for them.
This sims game isn't like the sims 2, I am kinda glad it isn't. I was looking for something new for the Wii. I have yet to fish, I was busy making friends with the neighbors and moving in new people. I like the game :)

My Sims is a very enjoyable, yet somewhat slow paced game. The rebuilding of the city is great for hand/eye coordination. It's good clean entertainment. Now that I've had it for a few months, I'm finding I'm addicted to it. Changing the buildings, trying to make everyone my "Best Friend", it's much better as you get deeper into the game. It took me 30 hours to make it a 5 star city... but I'm starting over again!

Okay... well if you normally like the SIMS games, this game isn't for you. You no longer have to keep your Sim happy, interact with others, etc. This game doesn't depend on that at all. In a nut shell, all you do is design/build houses for other Sims and create furniture for them. That's it. Needless to say, it gets boring really fast! If you like a mindless game with no real point, then you'll like this game. Otherwise, don't waste the money.

This game has some great ideas. I like that you are not working 24/7 on keeping your person happy. I like the building house mode, it is so easy. All you have to do is just place blocks and paint the walls. I like that you can make all your funature. Money is not a facture in this game. But it does tend to lag a bit when it just gets done loading. But all in all this game is great. I give it a 4/5 because of the lag, otherwise it would be a 5.

I bought the mysims month ago and was immediately impressed with the game of features available on this game. I broght for my sister kids and they love the game so much. They play with the game on the wii for hours , It really is a fun loving game. In the future I hope he/she have more sims games to sell for the wii systerm.

Its not much like the real sims (which I probably play too much) but its still a lot of fun. I like exploring the city and building things for people. Some things are a little difficult to build but not impossible. I would reccomend this for children 8 plus.

This game is awsome, my 5 year old daughter and I race to see who gets to play it first. It is fun for adults and keeps the little one busy for hours. It teaches you the fun of doing things for others, some with rewards and some not. The building is so easy, my 5 year old does a great job, I on the other hand have trouble keeping my hand steady to place blocks while in the work shop. This is such an awsome game, I just hope the next my sims games are just as fun. Enjoy........

There is a hidden password system in Mysims to unlock unique outfits and special furniture. To reach this password screen, do the following.

-While running around town, bring up the pause screen with the - button. Then input the following commands on the Wiimote (not nunchaku):

2 button, 1 button, Dpad down, Dpad up, Dpad down, Dpad up, Dpad left, Dpade left, Dpad right, Dpad right.

A special keyboard to enter passwords will now appear allowing you to unlock clothes and furniture. The following
passwords are case sensitive:

Whole family loves it. Lots to do yet easy enough for almost all ages. Will probably buy any other "My Sims" game that comes out if they are all like this one.

My Sims is not like a normal Sims game. Personally, I love the anime style, and relaxed game play. You work on tasks you want to do, instead of trying to make sure your Sim stays happy and alive in previous games. You design houses, furniture, and decorate, as well as collect "essences" that are used to do pretty much all of the above. You ask new Sims to move into your town. The music is pleasant, and the "voices" of the Sims are adorable. It would have been nice if this game was wifi compatable, but it is not. I also was a bit disappointed with the number and amount of loading times for a Wii game. However, its overall a cute game, that has been keeping me entertained. If you like games such as Animal Crossing, where you basically chat with neighbors, collect things, and customize your pad, you'll probably enjoy it. :)

really buy it because a friend love this game, and certainly convinced me that this was the best way to buy it.

My daughter loves this game. She plays it for hours. Great item for kids. She loves the animals involved in the game. She was excited about her horse having a new baby.

Personally, I think this game has the most annoying music ever conceived by a game designer. But my boys, 12 yr old and 2 almost 6 year olds, love, love, love it. Since we got the game, they play with no other games. They've each created multiple characters and have built elaborate towns, houses, even furniture. We chose MySims because we were looking for something fun and appropriate for our younger boys and it has fit the bill. There is a little reading required so mom and day get called in frequently, but mostly they can do it on their own. It is encouraging them to remember the words that pop up most often and they've added a few words to their reading vocabulary. Although good for the younger boys, my older son loves it too and I love the fact that it is a good, clean game. Warning: the characters speak a gobbley-goop language that is quite bizarre. Also, your kids might disappear for long periods of time or break out into fights over whose turn it is.

Even though my 4 year old daughter has not mastered the controls, we both can play this game together. She "helps" me with the game. She gets a kick out of telling me how the houses should look like. She looks forward to the next time we play.

I love this game! It is amazing! You build your own little city and design houses and items. It is hard to stop playing. Great for all ages!! I choose to buy it because I just purchased my Wii game and wanted to have some different types of games. Great fun for the whole family or just one!!

We have a 6 and 8 year old that haven't stopped playing with it since christmas. They love it! Easy to use, the 6 year old needed some help with the reading, but since there is repetition with the tasks, she has gotten a hold of it. They both enjoy it very much.

Mysims (Wii)

I picked up this game as a rental from Blockbuster for my wife . I was watching her play Mysims later on that evening and it looked like fun. I tried it and was hooked. I like simulator type games anyway and this one you control a town’s development from building the houses to building the future. I think the best thing about this game is it brings out the creative side of ones personality not combat commando.

I would love for this seller to send out this game to me. I paid. It has been 15 days since I paid and seller still hasn't shipped this item to me. i would like my money back.

The Wii game, The MySims, was plastic-wrapped just like from a store but the game was 50% of store cost! The shipping was fast since I used Paypal and the seller was very nice to work with! My wife loves the Wii game and loves the price I got it for! My kids tell me about this game and I think is not good but I buy it because my kids really want one of this and its really good and interesting keep my kids watching and thinking about how finish the game,I recomended for kids like keep focus on the games.
