My Utmost for His Highest by James Reimann, Oswald Cham
Review created: 06/07/06(updated 10/10/08)

This daily devotional has been a classic for more than 80 years, and with good reason. Each day Chambers identifies one or more ways in which we tend to put fleshly things ahead of God. Then he takes the reader back to the spirit of Christ, the atonement, redemption, and the glory of God.
This is my sixth time through the book, but there are those who have been reading it every day for decades. For those who want to really focus their life on the leadings of Christ, live their life for God, this IS a great way to be training yourself. It's really that good!
Chambers was a Scotsman who died in 1917, and his English is sometimes a bit difficult to understand. This edition, revised by James Reiman is easier to understand and he also referenced many scriptures that Chambers quoted but didn't cite.
There are also some indices in the back that index both quoted scriptures and ideas.
May be a bit too much for a new Christian, but definitely a winner for the more mature, especially if it's discussed with others. This is the fifth or sixth one I've given to friends.
