This instructional bellydance program allows people of all ages and fitness levels to design their own workout by customizing the intensity, length, and components of each session. Award-winning dancer, author, and instructor Rania Bossonis plays the role of personal trainer by helping viewers develop a program that's perfectly suited to their individual needs and goals. Seven full workouts with interchangeable parts combine the sensual appeal of bellydance with the calorie-burning effectiveness of aerobics. Thanks to the adjustable nature of each workout, viewers can reap the benefits of Rania's program in anywhere from a half-hour to as little as 10 minutes a day.     I liked the flexibility in the program. This isn't your typical start-at-the-beginning-and-go-through-the-end workout tape, which leaves you bored after a few weeks.

    It works in a calendar-week format, which is also user controlled. You have 6 (I think) weekly calendars, each calendar with a different emphasis from weight loss, cardio, targeting specific areas, to 'fit it in', and maintenace, with every day a different workout routine or arrangement. Once you get to know the moves, they even give you the option of turning off the vocal overlay and just working to video and music w/o instruction. And while the calendar works Sunday thru Saturday, there is nothing stopping you from selecting Thursday's routine on Monday and Sunday's on Friday.

    And from another menu, you can also pick and choose from all the routines which you want to do and string them together any way you want.

    I am an intermediate level bellydancer and I have fun with it, and can see where I can change out certain moves with others to keep it interesting. But most of all, I enjoy the fact I can do the moves without straining arthritic knees, and still feel like I'm getting a real workout without obsessing over choreography. And if you don't know the moves? she gives a visual library reference at the end with all the basics from hip circles to figure-8s to undulations to get you going.
