Appealing, quirky Euro postmodern electronic whimsy
Stereo Total's multi-linqual lyrics, female vocals, whimsical melodies, quirky, hiccupy rhythmns, and sparse, postmodern production replete with electronic beeps and boops are all done with their own original stamp, but will nevertheless remind many listeners of Stereolab (well beyond the superficial similarity in name). You may recognize the bouncy "I Love You Ono" from the Dell computer commercial, and this album may be worth the investement for that song alone. But there's lots more to enjoy here. "Tu Peux Conduire Ma Bagnole" is a cover of The Beatles' "Drive My Car" in French. A mixture of covers and originals, this album shouldn't be dissected for deep messages or meaning, it's simply to be enjoyed. And while this style may not appeal to everyone, if you enjoy Stereolab, you will probably enjoy these folks as well.
