My French Coach (Nintendo DS, 2007)

It is so easy to use. Just a few minutes each day can make a great difference in your ability to begin to learn to read and speak French. I had tried seveal other leaarning tools and none combined all of the things I need to reallly learn a language, seeing, hearing, speaking, and repeating as easily as this little tool does, and best of all the DS format means you can take it with you and "play" just a few minutes here and there. I love that you can actually record your voice and compare the way you spoke the word to the actual French speaker, and that you can slow down or spead up her speech to work best for you to hear and repeat. It does have the DS format where you must earn the next lesson, but for me that worked great and a few minutes each day moves you through them quickly and then you can move up and down the lessons and reveiw as you desire. I love it! When I get back from France I am getting the Spanish Coach.

i bought it because i took one semester in french and want to learn more...not going to get more then that but is still a great refresher and excellent to improve pronounciation. it had a recorder and you can compare to correct pronounciation.

This is the best thing that you could purchase if you want to learn a new language! I have purchased other computer software to help me re-learn French and they don't even compare! Great for all ages! I just purchased the Spanish one I loved it so much! You WILL NOT regret this purchase!

Looked at this in stores, good buy! And, let's talk about simple! Do not have to get in the car, drive to a store, put up with rude sales staff and all the other hassles that come with going to those big box stores. How much better does it get? Thank you!

I have tried learning some french with those self-teaching books but it gets boring after a while. And though I did learn a few words from the book it's difficult to know if you are making real progress. That's why I was intrigued when Ifirst heard about My French Coach. I was especially curious about the Compare tool where you can record your voice and compare to the french woman in the game. It helps a lot to hear the native speaker pronounce words, but to compare it to yourself is even better. I haven't had it for long (I'm mastering the days of the week) but I already notice it's more entertaining than going through my self-teaching book.

Eh, I thought that I'd like it a lot more then I did. I mean I use it nearly everyday, but it's not as simple as it would be to simply take a class, although it is much cheaper, of course. I'd say only buy it if you're really, really interested in learning the language, if not, it's a total waste of money.

Simple to use and fun, this seems to hit the spot. Plenty of exercises and plenty of interaction demanded. It seems best suited to the relative beginner or intermediate (why else would someone need it) and is entertaining enough to make it worth the 15 minutes a day to make progress. Glad I bought it.

It is easy and fun to use making learning a joy not a chore. The sound is good and the games format suitable for all ages.

My kids (8 & 10) and I love the "My (fill in language) Coach" games. We have Spanish, French and have played Japanese. Entertaining and educational. Fun cute games that teach you words, phrases and how to build sentences. Where else can you learn a new language for $30 or less. It may not challenge someone with advanced knowledge of these languages, however they do offer a large range levels. They also have a translation/glossary feature. We enjoy this and its related games your family may also.

I bought this to help me learn French. I went to France last year and could speak very little French. So---there was my motivation. Besides they don't help you much to understand their language. Although, I am learning a lot, it should start off with the alphabet and vowel sounds. You jump right into learning words. The compare feature is great, with the voice recording so you can work on your accent.

I bought this item for my daughter, who is interested in learning languages.
She likes it very much, and it was received in good condition.

I am learning french very well now. There are many functions in this program like recording your own voice.

This 'game' is very nice for it's portability and ease of use. It will only give you a basic understanding of the language, but is perfect for me since I will be going to France, I currently understand very little French, and just want to learn a little to get around.

I wish there more games like this - fun and educational. What makes it even better is that I can take it on the go so there's never any boredom travelling, waiting or just in between stuff. Awesome and highly recommended.

My daughter took the software on her trip to Europe. Great for the plane ride. We were gone for 30 days and it was fabulous for her to occupy her time with a educational tool.

This is a good tool to pass the time while picking up some cool multi language skills. Whether at work, on a break, flying, or riding, you will be able to slowly pick up enough French to carry on a conversation.

This game is an excellent tool to get started with the beautiful french language. I like the interface a lot and it seems to me that the programers made an excellent work creating a game environment that will allow you to memorize the lessons, it also includes excellent references like dictionary tools (search and display), and phrasebook as well, both in french and english! So Canadians may find it even more useful!

You can get any other software as good as the DS' French coach, but you would have to pay twice as much or maybe more.

So if you want to invest your time in something priceless as learning a language is, then you should absolutely get into this piece of educational material.

I really like this game, especially the multiple choice tests and the other games.
But it's frustrating that the game requires so many points to get to the new lessons.
They should have really put if a noun is feminine or masculine so I know how to say/write the adjectives.
I think a highschooler in France knows more words than when at the end of the game when you earn the "highschooler" title.
The game should compare the player's voice and the game's speakers voice more precisely, like for example if the word was pronounced right.
Nice game overall but could have been better.

I bought "My French Coach" for my 10 year old daughter and she loves it!
She has already learned her colors in French. I highly recommand it.
