My Father's Only Son Carrie Newcomer

This is one of Carrie Newcomer's earlier albums; it came out in 1996 and was produced by Windchime Productions in Bloomington, Indiana, where Newcomer lives. Her musical nuances and writing have improved a great deal since she put this album out but it is still one of my favorites. I enjoy listening to many of the songs over and over which I think is the benchmark of a good album. Song of the songs I find especially enjoyable are the slower ones like "My Father's Only Son" and "Up in the Attic" which are both rather sentimental but meaningful.
My favorite song on this album is "Amelia Almost 13" which I find very memorable and sweet. It is all about her daughter growing up and how hard it is to let her go. It is very sweet and from the first time I heard it I remembered it, which is what I would say about a lot of her music. The musicianship is just much more developed in recent years than on this album. I would still say that it is more than worth it to listen to her songs, especially if this is your first introduction to the great songwriter and singer Carrie Newcomer.
I have had this album for many years and actually bought a second one (on Ebay) to give to a friend who has a daughter named Amelia to share with her the song "Amelia Almost 13." I know she will also enjoy it.
