I grew up in south side Chicago, part of where the author's story takes place. I like the accurate accounts that the author gives of life in south side Chicago and the positive theme the book carries about standing up against gang violence. Overall the book is a page-turner because of all the sustained drama in the authors life

well i would love to tell you that i am enjoying my purchase but it ahs been all most 2 or it has been two months and i still haven't recived anything. i sended an email to the senders but i still haven't had a response. i like ebay as a website and all but i'm not too happy because its already been a long long time but i don't have my book.

) I bought this book because I grew up as an associate/friend in the same area as the people in this book. I was pretty much forced to leave that area in the early 90's because I had broke up with one of "the boys". Now I'm 44 years old & through reading this book, have learned to understand why I did the things I did when I was young & why all of my friends were they way they were. The Hood, no matter where it is, is not the place to be without family. It's amazing that you can still learn about yourself this late in life. This book was well written & soulfully enriching. I commend this man for the life he has chosen to live now. I just wish the kids coming up now could learn from the experiences of this brother...THANKS for the great book.
