The Mustard Seed Garden Manual of Painting = Chieh Tzu YUan Hua Chuan, 1679-1701 by Kai Wang, Mai-Mai Sze, Yu Li (1978, Paperback, Illustrated)

I was looking for information on various Chinese painting subjects to learn how to draw and paint them. This is a great book that does that and more. There are a lot of illustrations, a few step by step examples. It's not really a how-to book, but it's thick with 621 pages. There's a good appendix of terms. The book is divided into 3 sections, each covering different subjects. I found this book interesting, and informative.

I found this book a little overwhelming at first. However, once I started reading it and following the instructions and examples provided, it became one of my favourite Chinese Ink Painting Books. It offers detailed instruction, and is an excellent guide for a beginning or accomplished artist. I highly recommend it!
