Album Notes Cheap Trick: Robin Zander, Tom Petersson, Rick Nielsen, Bun E. Carlos. Additional personnel includes: Billy Corgan, D'Arcy. Recorded live at the Metro, Chicago, Illinois from April 30 to May 3, 1998. Includes liner notes by Billy Corgan. Recorded over four nights in 1998 in the band's hometown of Chicago, MUSIC FOR HANGOVERS is a live album by a heavy pop outfit who continuously improve and invent themselves. Each of the group's first four albums was performed on an individual night, and a sampling (plus some added favorites) is presented here. For the Cheap Trick enthusiast, the album is essential as the Trick play songs that they never play or have rarely played in their career. Rousing renditions of "Hot Love" and "I Can't Take It" are given renewed vigor, while "Taxman, Mr. Thief" is in its original, longer form. Fellow Chicagoites Billy Corgan and D'Arcy join the group on "Mandocello" and "If You Want My Love," respectively. "Oh Caroline" works very well unplugged, and "Dream Police" is as frantic as ever. The album concludes with a rousing version of "Gonna Raise Hell." Billy Corgan supplies the liner notes and recalls how he begrudgingly attended an oldies bill that the band was on in 1994 only to have faith in rock & roll restored by their performance. While many bands have adopted Cheap Trick's sound, none have matched their talent, power or heart.
