Music For Hangovers by Cheap Trick (CD, Jun-1999, Cheap Trick Unlimited)

This is an awesome live CD, taken from a 4 night stint at Chicago's Metro in 1998. Many live CDs don't sound that great to me, but this one is incredible! Cheap Trick's live shows are legendary and if you listen to this CD, you'll know why. They are in top form, tight, and on fire! The music thunders from the first song, "Oh Claire." Great, hard versions of "Surrender," and "I Want You To Want Me." "Hot Love" scorches. "Dream Police" and "Gonna Raise Hell" are powerful songs but here, they are even more kicked up. This version of "Gonna Raise Hell" made the walls shake. Billy Corgan from Smashing Pumpkins joins in on "Mandocello." Loved all the songs. The "Music For Hangovers" DVD is worth getting too. The band's commentary is hysterical.

I was there. These shows were amazing! This disk reflects the energy and passion of a great band that keeps rocking and delivers the goods and in a small club setting just like where they started from.

How can you compare a live Cheap Trick CD with At Budokan success. I really enjoyed listening to this and would recommend it to anyone young and old looking for a live CD.

Fantastic live recording that proves why Cheap Trick have indured and continue to influence to this day!! I would consider this to be an essential recording to own for all CT fans (along w/ the first lp, At Budokan and One On One)... Highlights include new and energetic versions of "Surrender" "Hot Love" and "I Want You to Want Me" as well as obscure favorites like "The Ballad of TV Violence" and "How Are You".... Highest recommendation!!!

Great cd! The band has aged to perfection! It's hard to believe that Cheap Trick sounds as good, if not better, than they did 30 years ago.
