Mushrooms Demystified by David Arora (1986, Paperback)

This is the Definitive guide to collecting mushrooms. It far exceeds all other mushrooms guides. Easy to understand and well written. Great photos with excellent methods for identifying mushrooms. The pocket companion, All That the Rain Brings is essential to carry along while shrooming.
The pros all have this book, it is expensive and heavy, but it will open up the world of edible mushrooms, a world more interesting and useful than wild plants. The first time one comes home with twenty pounds of chanterelles or morels one will have paid for this book several times over. Don't come home empty handed from a hunt, camping trip or even a casual stroll though the hills.
David Arora is a real world expert, not just an academic, he can still be found hunting morels in Alaska and Canada.

This book is thick like a dictionary, and among the best mushrooming book (in my opinion) as it catalogs every possible specie of mushroom in North America. But there is another reason that makes it even better: it uses a series of questions to help identify the mushroom, unlike most other resources that force the amatuer to depend on just the pictures and skimp descriptions, which means you're less likely to ingest the wrong mushroom (which shouldn't happen).
