Murder Makes Waves by Anne George (1998, Paperback, Reprint)

I have all of Anne George's books and was saddened by her death a few years ago. She was one of the best and will be missed by all her readers.

The Southern Sister Mysteries are marvelous!! The middle-aged sisters are hilarious! In this installment, sensible and happily married Patricia Anne and her flirtatious, wacky, rich and much married(many times) sister, Mary Alice decide to go to the beach to get out of a rut. Mary Alice has a luxury beachfront condo in Destin, Florida and they are joined by their friend Frances and Patricia Anne's widowed daughter Haley. After giving her spouse, Fred, kisses goodbye and instructions to feed the dog, etc. all the girls head south for some fun. They are all enjoying themselves, relaxing in the sun when a dead body washes up on shore. Mary Alice, no stranger to any man, recognizes the murder victim and everyone is feeling obliged to find the killer...well, almost! There are no witnesses so they follow their own instincts which lead them toward dirty real estate dealings and the habitats of the giant sea turtle.

Anne George is simply brilliant! She writes in a way that makes you think you have known her characters for years! They're diverse: some eccentric, some normal 'folk', some hysterical. And, since most of the same characters carry on from book to book in this 8 book series, you can catch up on the happenings of these favorite characters with each new book. This is the BEST of the 'cozy mystery' genre, in my opinion. You haven't read any of Anne George's "Southern Sister Mysteries" yet, please, please do! You don't have to start with the first book, either. Just get one and jump in. This one is so funny, I've read it three times! HAVE FUN!

This is a fun light reading mystery. Two squabbling older sister end up in the middle of a murder and they always end up in the middle of solving it. We also get a little family history with each book. Fun to keep up with the two and their families. Price was good and fair and it helps complete my set.
