The Muppet Christmas Carol (DVD, 2005, 50th Anniversary Edition)

This is one of those must have movies if you ever had a kid who loved Sesame Street or any of the Muppet Movies.  It also does not go so far off the classic storyline that puriests would be up in arms over it.  Of all the Muppet movies this is my favorite.  Mostly because while my daughter was growing up she and I watched it so many times we could repeat entire sections of script and even now with her in the Army and stationed overseas I plan to send her a new copy because she and I have worn out at least 3.  I love this so much it was one of my top items requested for Christmas last year LOL.

The songs in this are absolutely awesome and you will catch yourself singing them to yourself because they will stick in your head....it feels like Christmas.  Also the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and future is wonderful and have some memorable scenes and line....come here and know me better man....

There is nothing about this movie not to love.  It has humor that everyone can get into the young,the old, and even the jaded.  The laugh out loud moments are also mixed with some real emotion stirring moments when Scrooge is coming to his realizations and Tiny Tim delivers his classic lines.  It is amazing how they managed to make this so relavant using the Muppets.  I think Michael Caine is wonderful in this and shows a certain amount of depth as a actor in that for not even one moment does it ever seem he is just there as a human prop.  He seems to interact with the puppet characters as if they are real.  Some of the classic Muppets have some hillarious bits in here.  Jacob Marley is pretty cool.  Gonzo has some of the funniest moments that I think anyone who sees this will love.

The best thing as far as reccommendations go about this is that my daughter saw this for the first time when she was 5 or 6 years old and even now all these years later she still absolutely adores it.

This movie would be a great addition to anyones Christmas movie collection and it is also a great gift idea for children of all ages.  I could go on and on about this little gem but trust me you should get it for yourself and watch it over and over again by yourself and with those special young ones in your life.
