The Muppet Christmas Carol (DVD, 2005, 50th Anniversary Edition)

This movie is hysterical, just like other Muppets movies. It is however, probably one of if not the best Muppet movie to date (running very close to Muppets From Space.) It's a great movie for ALL AGES, adults (I'm 21 and I LOVE it) to children alike. We watch it every Christmas, and even other times in the year! Highly reccommended.

Of all the versions of Dickens "Christmas Carol" this is by far the most rewarding version. Suitable for all family members it is sure to warm the heart of your family 'Scrooge'.

You will not be disappointed one bit by this movie. Christmas would not be complete until you see Kermit the Frog as Bob Cratchit and Miss Piggy as his loving dutiful wife. The Muppets do Dickens with Michael Caine as Mr. Scrooge. The specter effects are charming. "The Muppet Christmas Carol will become a holiday tradition your family will treasure all the days of the year" You too will find yourself humming the songs long after the movie is finished.

We love this movie! We rank it right up there with the Alister Sims version of A Christmas Corol. Tried to buy it in the stores for 3 years and couldn't find it anywhere. Thanks to the seller and to ebay, now we can watch it anytime we wish.

This is my favorite version of this movie. I have loved this since I was a kid. This is a great movie for children! Ya gotta love Gonzo and Rizzo.

Dickens would have loved it (perhaps he's watching it now). If you love the Muppets and like Dickens, or vice versa, you will fall in love with this one.

We've watched it all year round, not just for Christmas and we have done so for years. Of all the Muppet flicks we like this best and we're nuts about them all.

This is an adaption of the Charles Dickens classic that doesn't wander too badly from the original novel.
We have Kermit the Frog as Bob Crachet, Miss Piggy as his wife, Fozzie the Bear as Fozziwig, Gonzo as the narrator- Charles Dickens, and Michael Caine as Scrooge. Brian Henson did a fine job in making his fist movie. Michael Caine does a splendid job working with the Muppets. The songs are by Paul Williams, and to make it even better, this is a Walt Disney Pictures production.
The special features include a commentary with Director Brian Henson, some "out takes" from the movie (which are pretty good.) There is "Frogs,Pigs and Humbug":Unwrapping a New Holliday Classic" which gives you some interesting background on the movie. The last bonus feature is "Christmas around the world" which talks about various Christmas traditions in other countries.
If you enjoyed the Muppet Show in the 1980's or any of the Muppet movies that have been released like "Muppets from Space" or "Muppet Treasure Island", you will thoroughly enjoy this adaptation. Guaranteed, the children will.

I absolutely LOVE this movie. Although it is geared toward children and I'm a 52 year old mother, I fell it sends out a universal message that even the most hardened of humans has goodness somewhere in them. It's too bad that humanns won't be able to have Scrooge's experience. If they did, this world would hopefully be a much happier place.

The music and lyrics are unique, funny and touching. It's interesting to see how Henson incorporates Muppets into the Dickens' tale. Michael Caine as Scrooge is very convincing as a crochety old man. There are classic as well as original Muppet characters who take on various roles in the film. Adding "real" people in the film helps to keep it grounded. Statler & Waldorf are a riot!! Highly recommended to watch, it is one of the best/most fun versions of Scrooge I have ever seen!! It's enjoyable for all ages and Muppet fans.
The only negative I have is Michael Caine's voice is often outshone by a lot of the other singers/actors (who are VERY talented).

I bought this dvd to replace my old, very well used vcr tape. Jim Hensen was genious. I love the way he incorperated muppets and people together so well. The muppets where wonderful, you forget while you are watching it that they are not real! Lots of humor to help the adults watch it over and over again too.

I had the vhs before and wanted the dvd anniversary edition of The Muppet Christmas Carol. It was neat to have muppet "bloopers" to view that make you laugh. This is a Christmas classic that has a lively warm-hearted message.

This movie is a favorite in our household. We watch it every Christmas season. It brings a classic tale alive for our kids.

I discovered this great rendition of the timeless Charles Dickens classic about 15 years ago. I've been watching it every Christmas since then. So, of course, the VHS tape is getting worn out. Needless to say, I was thrilled to find it on DVD. Now, the tradition continues with my kids - and beyond.

I REALLY ENJOY THE MUPPETS. THIS MOVIE IS A CLASSIC, I ENJOY HOW FUNNY IT COULD BE FOR BOTH CHILDREN AND ADULTS.I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS MOVIE, ESPECIALLY FOR ALL THE MUPPET FANS OUT THERE.

My family and I watch Muppet Christmas Carol on Christmas Eve every year. Unfortunately, we lost the dvd sometime last year!! But i was very fortunate to find the dvd for such a great price and in great condition. This movie is not only funny, but it is a great movie to get your christmas spirit up! Buy this movie!!

The muppets took Charles Dickens novel and brought it to life. This is one of the best Christmas Carols I have seen. There is parts in it that will make you cry and parts that will make you laugh. I enjoy it very much.

I love the muppets and I have been looking for this dvd and was glad to find it at a reasonable price. The only problem was my carelessness, I thought it was a new copy and it was used from the seller, but everything was fine.

Ok, so, it's true, I am a Christmas Addict... but I am also a Charles Dickens fan! This movie is Dickens at his most accessible. Who better to introduce Victorian literature than Gonzo (The "whatever") and Rizzo the rat??
The movie is as entertaining to me now as it was when I saw it as a little kid, which is lucky, because I made my parents watch it with me over and over... and over... and over. The interaction and characterization of, between, and with the muppets is fantastic, and the music is singable and meaningful. It is a lot of fun and an important message... but, mostly, a lot of fun,
The sets are fabulous and realistic. The jokes and puns meant for an older generation are just as captivating as ice-skating with penguins is for the little ones. If you are looking for a feel-good Christmas movie with substance, music, and Kermit the Frog... you've just found it.

I had this item on VCR tape and just had to get it on DVD so that my kids could enjoy it. The traditional Dickens story is highlighted with numerous up-tempo songs and muppet humour. Love it!! We will watch this as a family all during the holiday season! The third ghost at the end can be a bit scary for little ones, but my 3 & 5 year olds love this Henson masterpiece!
