The Mummy (DVD, 1999, Collector's Edition)

If you're expecting bandaged-wrapped corpses and a lurching Boris Karloff-type villain, then you've come to the wrong movie. But if outrageous effects, a hunky hero, and some hearty laughs are what you're looking for, the 1999 version of The Mummy is spectacularly good fun. When that action gets going, hold tight--those two hours just fly by. Husband loved the movie, and I heard about it for hours!

The Mummy - This is a pretty good story and the scenes are kind of cool. I don't know why this didn't get as much hype as other monster movies. This movie was pretty good.

I *love* this movie. Just when you think you're about to settle in for a fairly predictable tale of adventure and horror, you get smacked up by the unexpectedly brilliant wit and plot twists of the story. Only Brendan Frasier could have pulled this role off as perfectly as he did. Spot-on dry humor and irony intermingled with acid laugh lines.

The effects alone make this movie worth owning. They are as startling and horrifying today as when I first watched the film in the theaters. Nothing makes you skin crawl like those millions of little scarabs making their way through the story like piranhas on heroin. You've gotta love those moments when the wind rushes through the room and Frasier's character finally reacts with my favorite line in the whole movie.

The Mummy is a fun little fantasy trip; and thankfully, they went way light on the romance angle, which would have made a brilliantly witty and rapid-fire adventure flick just one more romantic cliche. Well-balanced, original, and highly entertaining. You won't be sorry for THIS purchase!

A FUN MOVIE TO ENJOY FOR ALL. MAYBE A LITTLE SCARY FOR SMALL CHILDREN. GREAT SPECIAL EFFECTS, GREAT STORY-A REAL CLASSIC, HIGH ENTERTAINMENT TO ADD TO ANYONE'S MOVIE COLLECTION!

Has it been that long already? Is this movie too old to enjoy anymore?
Yes, and No, respectively.
Picky viewers would point at the no-longer-cutting edge computer graphics.
Not-picky viewers would come along for the Indiana Jones-like adventure and enjoy the ride. It's a bit darker than its sequel, but still with tongue-in-cheek humor in many places.

my copy was stolen and has to be replaced...................i was happy with the purchase.now all i have to do is purchase th other mummy movies to match and ill really be a happy camper..................

The Mummy is a great family movie with likeable characters, and wonderful special effects! It is true Hollywood entertainment--fantasy with a touch of history. (I had to research Imhotep just for my own curosity, after I watched the movie!) There is a small amount of foul language, and although it has some violence/fight scenes, there is no blood, guts, and gore to keep the little ones from sleeping at night. This DVD is definitely a keeper for your big screen tv, and you might as well get The Mummy Returns and the Scorpion King to make your collection complete. All three are worth watching and most entertaining!

The movie had so many great extra features like a behind the scenes making, the history of the Egyptian era in 1290b.c. There are commentaries by the writer(s), director and producer as well as the special effects creators. Wonderful film and a joy to watch over and over.

My family loves the action movies and our children were studing mummies at school so it was a fun learning tool too.

Well first I have to say we looked in all the stores for it and nobody had it my 2 sons have the other mummy dvds so they needed this one and you know you can find IT on e-bay for allot cheaper than anywhere thanks e-bay.
