So many of the books taken from TV shows (like that Murder, She Wrote series) - the characters don't ring true. This edition - the characters are really well written, in fact you get a lot more of Natalie than you ever knew before, like how her husband died -- how she felt...the neurosis of Adrian is funny, and remarkably well-translated to the page. The plot is just like the show - he wraps it up quickly and you do flip back to catch the clues you missed on the first read through - the clue to a great mystery is if you actually read passed the clues without catching on --!!

Worth the read, will take you a weekend if that!

So much like the TV show; one doesn't have to waste time trying to figure out what the characters look like in our mind's eye (come to think about it, there's no description of Monk, Natalie, Julie or the detectives on the TV show to take up space). Fun to read, nice plot, laugh out loud scenes. And the description of Kauai was so authentic, it made me long for a revisit of that fabulous island. If you're a fan of Monk on TV, read the books. They are just as much fun, only you're reading!

To be honest, I wasn't expecting much. I mean, really, a book based on the characters in a television series? But I was stuck in the airport and in a bad mood and thought I'd give it a shot. And you know what? It was great! Funny and poignant and I loved it. Now I'm looking for more from the Mr. Monk series. I hope Lee Goldberg writes realllllly fast.

  I Love Monk!

If you love the MONK TV show, you will love the Mr. Monk goes to Hawaii. The story is told in Natalie's point of view, so it really lets the reader get to know a lot more about Natalie. The premise of the story is that Natalie and Mr. Monk go to Hawaii-I know, you are wondering HOW Monk got on the plane, you will have to read the book to find out-and Monk comes across a murder in his hotel. Also staying at the hotel is a mind reader. Monk has to try and expose him for the fake that he is-or is he a fake at all??
This book is filled with Monk's phobia's, weird behavior's and mystery. You will not want to put this book down!

  Great Summer Read!

A fun, easy, enjoyable read. Laugh out loud funny. I can't wait for the next Monk book by this author.

This book takes you along for a fun, quirky ride with OCD ex-police detective Adrian Monk and his ever present life assistant , Natalie. Read this book and you are on your way to a very realistic, fun, yet odd vacation to the gorgeous island of Kuai through Natalie's perspective.

Natalie packed her patience and Mr. Monk brought along all of his idiosyncracies.

If you enjoy the T.V. show, MONK, as much as I do , then you will feel like you are right in the show while you are reading this.

Murder, mayhem, a Hawaiian vacation and tons of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. What could be more fun??

Give your brain a break from the real world and enjoy this fun read!

  Mr. Monk Books
Review created: 02/22/09(updated 02/27/09)

My family loves the TV show, MONK. It is clean enough for all of use to watch. I did not even know there were MONK books until I was in B.A.M. recently. I decided to try eBay for better pricing and sure enough, I was able to buy many of the MONK books for my teenager. He hasn't been able to put his MONK books down. He said they are as funny and as entertaining as the show. He wants me to purchase more if I find them but I think I've bought the whole series. My teen is an avid reader but is picky so this is a compliment to the author of the MONK series.
