Hoffman, an Odd fit
Dustin Hoffman was as good fit in this part as Johnny Dep in the chocolate facory....ODD...to say the least...Story line, a bit weak, chareture building, non existant. good for a one time view with the kids.

I just got this movie and really didn't know what to expect. But this movie was actually very good. The special effects were well done. And some descent solid acting.
Pros: Good acting, Fun story line, Great special effects, For the whole family
Cons: None that i could think of.
This is a great movie the whole family could sit around and watch. It's not like most kids movies that you kids enjoy and you are bored. And being a 19 male i enjoyed the movie.

Dustin Hoffman plays a great role. The entire cast is truly genuine. This movie is a truly great movie and a joy to watch...must be the big kid in me!

The color and definition on the disc is amazing. It is like you can actually reach into the movie it is so clear. And the movie itself is absolutely awsome. It is Willy Wonka taken to the next level. Fantastic movie.

This movie is a really good family movie. My two year old loved it until about the middle of the movie when it starts to slow down. The older kids liked the whole movie and so did I, but there were some slow times.

my gawd... this is by far the best movie i have seen all year
the special effects are absolutely stunning
and there is this ability to watch it over and over and still be amazed

Not a bad movie but a little boring at times. A feel good movie kids will love. A great performance by the gorgeous Portman and Hoffman can off a little too strange. But worth a one time watch movie.

Ladies and Gentleman, this is one of the very few G rated movies.
SYNOPSIS
The eccentric owner of a magical toy store surprises the shop's manager by turning over ownership to her in a warm-hearted comedy fantasy directed by Zach Helm and starring Jason Bateman, Dustin Hoffman, and Natalie Portman. Portman plays the manager of the store that seems to be a reflection of the people who run it, and Bateman stars as the detail-oriented accountant assigned the task of assessing the establishment's monetary value. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide
ACTING
Hoffman is always gold. Jason Bateman is funny as always, and Portman (who has a bad rap for acting in Star Wars) is actually capable of Oscar worthy performances (see "V for Vendetta") and is gorgeous and lovable.
