Mr. Bean's vacation makes you want to stay home!

My family enjoyed this movie a lot and we had a lot of laughs along the way. Of course there are a few groaners along the way, but that always happens. This is a enjoyable show that the whole family will enjoy-- and one that you will watch at least another time.

  Life's a Holiday

The movie is of course, for Bean fans. But it is a good family movie for all. As in all Mr Bean shows, there is little to no dialogue. It is pantomime and slapstick, of which Rowen is a master!

The movie starts slow and builds slowly but steadily to its hilarious and happy finale! The message, life is a holiday to be enjoyed on the journey; and as Shakespeare said: all the worlds a stage, and we are merely players.....

  The Best of Mr. Bean's
Review created: 04/06/08

A wonderful movie for the family! I found it much more "Mr. Bean" than its previous title. There were some very memorable scenes sprinkled with Atkinson's amazing skills in playing "Bean". The ending was one of the most clever of the recent comedies I have seen. I definitely recommend this to any Mr. Bean fans or just anyone looking for a warm and fun movie to watch.

  Mr. Bean at his Best
Review created: 02/05/08(updated 03/08/08)

You have to watch this show from start to finish, watch the story unfold. Mr. Bean , as usual, is corny, wacky, and sometimes just plain wierd. Somehow he always comes out proving that he's got his heart in the right place. In this show, he wins a raffle for a trip to France, and sets out traveling. Because of his bumbling, a father and son get separated, and Mr. Bean feels responsible for the boy. I think this Mr. Bean show has good plot, and a pretty funny story. I recommend it.

A MOVIE FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY
Review created: 12/05/07(updated 12/05/07)
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

Oh Mr. Bean, what are we going to do with you? For years Rowan Atkinson's Mr. Bean character has been a worldwide sensation. You'll always hear that laughter may be the universal cure for sickness, but to find something that everyone would find funny...now THAT is the challenge! Somehow, being a man of few words, Mr. Bean has been the universal character that people all over the world love. It's not hard to see why. I always found it impressive that a character who speaks so few words (if, indeed, he speaks at all) manages to make me laugh so hard I want to bust a gut. Comparisons to Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton are not uncalled for. In fact, they are actually a very accurate way of describing Mr. Bean, and his new movie "Mr. Bean's Vacation." I must admit, humor is not the easiest thing to write about. Likewise, "Mr. Bean's Vacation" is not a movie I can easily describe because there isn't much to describe.

There is no story in this movie. There are some connecting events, but outside the fact that Bean wins a trip to Paris and is attempting to get a lost boy to the Cannes Film Festival, there really isn't much in terms of story. Heck, there isn't even much in terms of dialog. Unlike the previous Bean film, "Bean: The Movie," Mr. Bean has returned to being his clumsy, mumbling self. No speeches, no conversing in American slang, just Bean messing up in every sticky situation he gets himself in. There are moments when the film stalls, but there are much more laughs to be found then groans. In fact, I'd venture to say there were at least three scenes that had me laughing so hard, my stomach actually began to hurt. You know the feeling right? You start laughing. Then you continue laughing. Then you can't stop laughing.

Then you grab your stomach in pain, trying to catch your breath, but you just can't stop laughing. Yeah, "Mr. Bean's Vacation" can be like that sometimes. In a rare leap of faith, most the dialog that DOES make it's way through the movie is in French, with subtitles! This makes sense since Bean is traveling with a French boy he can't communicate with, which is the source of many of the misunderstandings in this movie that results in gags. But it's also daring because the characters must come to understand each other through their body language instead of their speech, which makes the language in this movie universal. Indeed, the few times the subtitles do show up it won't matter, because even if the kids can't read the subtitles they can read the body language, and thus they still get the joke.

Yes, it has flaws. There are moments where the film just drags, and the skits aren't sown together as flawlessly as they could be, but these points are moot. The bottom line is "Mr. Bean's Vacation" is pure comedy. Not all of it works, but most of it does. It's something the whole family can see and not be offended by. In fact, it may even be smarter then most of the big star "comedies" that we've seen released this year. It's not perfect, but if you're looking for a comedy, and especially one that you can bring your kids to, "Mr. Bean's Vacation" is a winner.

THIS MOVIE IS A RENTAL
OVERALL
6.5/10

Funny stuff! The best of Rowan Atkinson. Period.

The last offering of Mr. Bean to hit these shores a few years back was "Hollywood-ized" way too much. Mr. Beans Holiday is a British production with Rowan Atkinson at his best. If Steve Martin and Buster Keaton had a child in England--it would be Atkinson. Okay, so I'm more than a little partial, but this film is Mr. Bean as the Brits have come to love. If you're a fan of Mr. Bean---you'll love this one!

  Mr. Bean's Holiday -review-

I totually loved the movie and i've watched it 3 times already. What I like about it so much, is that it has tons of funny segments that is woven together to make a great plot. It has alot of wholeness, if you ask me.
However, I've heard that some people don't like the movie. So either ya love it or hate it I guess. If you liked Mr. Bean's other movies then I believe you will like this one also.
Also, if you decide to buy it, I'd recommend watching it without subtitles. Although some of it is in french, the lack of knowing what there saying really puts you into the movie. Like your kind of watching it from Mr. Bean's point of view. Cause he does'nt know what there saying either. Just thought I'd mention that.

Great family entertainment, if you want to laugh all night long this movie is a must! Our six year old nephew watched it, as we had DVR'd it one night off TV, and wanted to watch it again and again. Brit humor all the way through with great life lessons intertwined. So if laughter is what you're needing in your life this movie is the rated number one in our book!

This movie is hilarious. We had rented it and had to own it so I found it on E-Bay for a great price. Rowan Atkinson is a comic genius and the funny thing is he has few lines in the movie! His face tells the story. The seller was quick to ship and communication was excellent.

If you enjoy Mr Bean in his previous adventures - you will not want to miss this. Our family has watched this movie a number of times since we got the DVD and just loves it. You will laugh at the silly body language and the constant sight gags. Highly recommended family viewing.

Mr. Bean-Holiday DVD purchased from e-bay member
Review created: 02/29/08

I bought this dvd for my husband's Easter basket. He's been looking at it for quite a while. So he'll be very surprised on Easter morning. The video is hard to find at different places but at Super Target they never put it on sale. I bought it from the nicest gal for less price incuding shipping. The e-bay member I bought it from was very honest and she shipped it out right away. Plus she also responded to all my questions very quick. When you ask some people questions on e-bay you never hear back. This gal was great!

The movie is great for the whole family. It's a funny movie with a lot of coincidences that initiate the storyline. It's not as good as most disney movies but it is a new original extension of Mr. Bean. A+ feature for the first viewing. Average after that.

Though not particularly fond of Rowan Atkinson, do have to admire his talent. Has some of the funnier scenes I've seen in movies,, especially the opera mime scene, have watched that scene multiple times. Very talented individual. The skits are very humorous.

  Rated G for silliness
Review created: 04/26/09

Mr. Bean's Holiday is a movie for the entire family. It is random silliness for all. It is full of jokes for all ages. Trust me when I say that there are jokes and gags for all ages. My kids laughed at parts I didn't get. I laughed at parts they didn't get. Overall, we just laughed together and had a good time with it. This movie WILL NOT win any Oscar. So, if you are looking for cinematic excellence, you won't find it. For an excellent time with your family, this is a must see. Hope you enjoy as much as our family did. Oh, by the way, I am a dorm supervisor of 140 young men. They all loved it!

Never stopped laughing! Best Bean ever. A must see for everyone. Watch it with your whole family. Mr. Bean wins a vacation to Cannes France and off the story goes. At beginning of his train travels Mr. Bean inadvertently becomes the ward of a boy who has lost his father. Of course Mr. Bean must find the boy's father at all costs. William Defoe plays a movie director Mr. Bean meets along the way and the on screen chemistry is amazing. I highly recommend this comedy to anyone looking for a good laugh.

I enjoy my movies and he is so funny, but I enjoyed getting my DVD from eBay because I can find good prices on items, the delivery is prompt, and most buyers take pride in giving excellent service. I have most of them very easy to deal with and have never gotten anything that wasn't worth the money I paid for it.
