Album Notes This is another collection based on the supposition that listening to Mozart will make you a better person. In fact, the premise here is that by repeatedly playing certain pieces for one's baby during activities such as play or naptime one may improve their mental capacity. This is not an ideal program for one's regular listening and some of the works in its forty-seven minutes seem oddly chosen, especially the two movements from the 'Toy Symphony' of Leopold Mozart, since the whole idea would seem to be that one is subliminally nurtured by the graceful perfections of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, not the considerably less graceful efforts of his father. The disc also includes multiple selections from the "Ah, vous dirai-je, Maman" (Twinkle, twinkle little star) Variations and the C Major Flute Quartet as well as movements from several other works, all of which have been culled from Naxos recordings. Label's Note (4/99) - "Don Campbell, musician, teacher and best-selling author of THE MOZART EFFECT, has selected some of Mozart's best music to stimulate infant and baby play as well as rest and relaxation. Based on up-to-date medical and psychological studies, the compositions on this recording have been carefully selected to provide a rich listening experience for very young children and their parents. Studies show that classical music has a powerful effect on the intellectual and creative development of children from the very youngest ages. Featuring world-class performances of some of Mozart's best-loved compositions - including Twinkle Twinkle Little Star Variations, Flute Quartet in C Major, Serenade No. 9 in D Major, Symphony No. 25 in G Minor and music young Wolfgang may have heard when he was a baby: his father Leopold's composition of The Toy Symphony."
