The Motorola V710 was the pioneer of Bluetooth for CDMA Networks, people could not wait to get their hands on this phones anxiously waiting for what it was though as the phone that would save Motorola’s Curse on the CDMA market. But in the end it wasn't meant to be, Verizon Wireles with their infinite wisdom decided to cripple the V710’s bluetooth capabilities. This new promissing technology would never reach its fullest potential thanks to Verizon. Ofcourse they never advertised this little problem and in the true spirit of America they were taking to court (google v710 class action lawsuit) Pros: 1. Good Sound Quality 2. Good Reception this phone picks up both Digital and Analog Signals 3. Upgradable memory. 4. Big screen for some of you that are going blind 5. Flash aka LED Light doubles as a las resort light. Cons 1.Medicocre battery life – You can always get an extended battery altought it will make your already huge phone even bigger. 2.Hard to personalize unless you are Motorola Software Engineer 3.Bluetooth is crippled, we have Verizon to thank for that. 4.Oh man and the camera, this phone should not even be called a camera phones, I get better pictures from my 5 year old web cam. Unless you are taking a picture on a bright sunny day the pictures would look like utter crap. The camera is very sensitive to low light levels. 5. Is a Motorola some of you know what I am talking about. Review ID: 10000000000028576 Was this review helpful? I was extatic when I got this phone (I paid an exorbitant amount for this phone, having bought it the day after it came out... oops. Now it's only $100-something with new plans... *sigh*) I loved the bluetooth feature of this phone. It was the deciding factor in my purchase. Pros: Bluetooth headset and modem capability (works very well) Clear calls Good signal reception Good quality speaker (never used a headset for mp3 features) Cons: You can't change the outside wallpaper Battery life Camera picture quality (but who cares? I'm not much for the hype of camera cell-phones... If you want a good quality picture, why not use a camera?) new firmware disables transfer of mp3's to phone to use as ringer to force you to purchase ringtones through Verizon's 'get it now' service (if you already own the CD, why have to pay for the sound/song again?) But I guess this is a Verizon/V710 con, and not motorola's fault. I find that the battery runs out of juice too quickly (even without making large amounts of phone calls), and, as seems to be common with all Motorola cell phones, the charge port wears out, so over time, it gets harder and harder to get the phone to actually charge. I've found myself propping it up against objects to hold the cord against the phone, propping it on it's side, or any number of ways to get the contacts to touch just right. Oh, and pray to God you don't get the "unable to charge" message. I had to make a claim on my Verizon (asurion) insurance to get a replacement, because mine just stopped charging. I've had the replacement for a little over a month now, and the power port is already giving me cheek. For all of my complaining... I still love the little blighter. Oh well... at least I get a discount offa my next phone for sticking with this heap for two years. Review ID: 10000000000125817 Was this review helpful? What I purchased: You are bidding on a lightly used in Nice Condition Motorola V710 Color Camera Bluetooth Flip Cell Phone for US Cellular. This phone is in excellent cosmetic and working condition with only a bit signs of use. Phone may have some scuffs from gentle use. Pictures are stock photos of similar item sold. Phone has been full tested and works great!! The ESN# is clear and ready to activate." ****************** First Complaint Question from 04avril04 04avril04( 3) Positive feedback: 100% Member since: Dec-09-05 Location: WI, United States Registered on: www.ebay.com Item: Nice Motorola V710 US Cellular Color Camera Cell Phone (230062978423) This message was sent while the listing was active. 04avril04 is a bidder. I took the cellphone in to be hooked up at US Cellular and the technician showed me that the phone has had water damage. (White dot inside battery cover turned red indicates water damage) It does not work correctly: The On/Off button works sporadically - The phone behaves strangely, flashing on/off until the battery is taken out. Doesn't turn back on at all without taking the battery out completely then putting back in... several times. How should I proceed? April~ Seller's Response: I am sorry that you are having problems with the phone. We test the phones to the best of our ability and did not come across any problems. Please send the phone back to me for an exchange: ReplaceYourCell.com * Brooklyn NY 11204 Thank you YOU MUST INCLUDE THIS E-MAIL SO WE KNOW WHAT IT IS WHEN IT COMES BACK TO US RETURNED In a message dated 12/17/2006 12:20:19 P.M. Tried to turn it on, nothing. Charged it overnight and it worked but not the mp3 chip slot. Plus, you remember the dot inside the cover that turns red if its exposed to water (like the last phone you sent me)... On this phone, the dot was removed but there is red residue left on the metal where it was attached. Please refund my money plus $4 for shipping and I'll send this phone back to you, though its not worth anything. I am very disappointed and I can't believe your rating is so high. :( Seller's Response # 2 is exactly the same as Response #1. (Obviously an automated note, which only tells me that Seller gets alot of complaints.) Hi, I am sorry that you are having problems with the phone. We test the phones to the best of our ability and did not come across any problems. We are really sorry about this, Please send the phone back to me for an exchange, within 5 business days at most: SHIP TO: ReplaceYourcell.com * Brooklyn, NY 11204 I asked for a refund not an automated letter. I would have preferred a working phone but now I've had to pay double to US Cellular for a used phone, plus I'm out the shipping that I paid to return your stupid broken phone. I am very dissatisfied! Review ID: 10000000002761080 Was this review helpful? Report this review 7 of 9 people found this review helpful. This review is for the Motorola V710 for the Verizon Wireless network. This phone has 1X capabilities, Get It Now, a built in 1.2 megapixel digital camera, camcorder, speakerphone, and Bluetooth wireless technology. This is an excellent looking phone. It has a lot of standard features but it still falls short of LG and Samsung. The Keypad is well laid out and has large buttons; those worried about fat fingering numbers will welcome this. The Navigation Key and OK button in the center of the navigation button some may find a bit small and difficult to work with. This model has the ability to add additional memory via the transflash port, those into the media player thing will love this. This phone has full Bluetooth capabilities that have been turned off at the request of Verizon Wireless. There are ways to unlock all functions of Bluetooth if you don’t mind hacking into your phone. The resources are readily available on the Internet, just be aware that once you start to play with your phone you forfeit all manufactures and carrier warranties. In other words, make sure you know what your doing before you start or you run the risk of owning a pretty paperweight. Over all a sleek phone, great primary or backup phone if you lost your main phone or it was stolen. Here's the scoop on this cell phone. This item has a great MP3 player. Extra songs can be uploaded on the cell phone using an SD-Transflash card. An SD-Transflash card is a Secure Digital Memory card that is seperate in two parts. Same principle as the Sony Memory stick and it's counterpart Pro Duo Series but just in a smaller more integrated format. This cell phone sometimes echos, even in the new version of it that just came out. It has multiple alarm-wake-up settings. The Camera on it is okay. It's a little over a mega-pixel, so don't expect much from it. You will like the video-record function. One feature I use on this cell phone is it's voice record function. I record things such as where I parked at Wal-Mart. I don't care who you are, but everyone loses track of their car at Wal-Mart. You can plan current events throughout the year with this cell phones calendar function. Blue Tooth is quite a nice feature for you "tech savy people" You can send video mail and text messages and also surf the internet. Don't expect much from the internet function though. It's still strickly text only format. Physical Ability: I'll be honest, I've thrown this cell phone out of a car going 80 mph, ran over three times and dropped too many times that God would even frown at me. It still runs....so much for trying to file cell phone insurance. Review ID: 10000000003365137 Was this review helpful? Report this review |
