Motorola V557 (AT&T)

This phone is great. Great battery life and awesome service signal. The news ticker is a decent addition as well. Even better now that they offer local news. I dropped the phone within the first 3 days of having it and no problems or damage at all. I always have signal as where my older phones could only get 1 or no signal bars at all because of where I lived. The camera works great but it is not made to take the place of an actual digital camera if that is what you're looking for. The phone can use Email, IM, MMS, SMS, Pix, and MediaNet and they always work fine. The only problems that I can think of would be the menu organization and that it doesn't come preloaded with many games. It seems to have enough memory for me to have all my ringtones and pictures remain on the phone. It does everything the RAZR does and then some with the ticker. Its not as small as the RAZR but much more durable than the RAZR. Buy it now. You won't regret it.

The cell phone is a great phone, i carry it in my uniform pocket and it's too heavy for me.. it pulls my pocket down.. i love all the features and the camera take really good pics..

This phone has it all: camera, bluetooth, etc. The reason I rate this phone as average is, that as a seller and buyer this phone has only two difference from the Motorola V551. The first difference is that the V557 has a Live Ticker. The second is price. You can get a Motorola V551 for around $20-$30, were as the Motorola v557 sells for $30-$50. As both a buyer, and for sure as a seller, I want others to get the best product available. For what the Motorola v551 offers, I would rate the v551 higher than this phone, which I rated as Average. Know that God blesses you always, Frank.

Pro: Less dropped calls, a little heavier duty than most phones (I've dropped it a couple of times, with no damage, whatsoever) Also because it's heavier, I don't drop it as much because it is easier to hang onto. Nice, clean reception when talking to someone. The voice you hear is very clean, not distorted, like many other cell phones. I like that the volume controls can be programmed for the side buttons on the phone. Lots of different ways to program this phone for your preferences. I love the way the address book is set up. Very easy to add, delete and view.

Con: I did not like the ticker for the news, but the good thing is that I could get rid of it. I sometimes had a problem with charging it, but I found out that with Motorola phones in particular, that when you leave them on, all the time, you will sometimes have that problem. Since I have been shutting it off while recharging, I have not had that problem.

Overall: A really terrific phone at a great price. I paid $70.00 for this phone when it first came out, through Let's Talk. And I would absolutely do it all over again.

I could have been told this phone was new it was that good. Everything was in the orignal box packed as it were new. I am happy with this purchase. It was listed as used in good condition, and it was better than expected. Thanks

its a good phone with good feartures and reliably made.This is a solid Motorola product. i like the GSM and international calling capability. A camera is just an dded plus.

Only thing that fits my handsfree cradle in my truck. All the new upgrades for the phone will not work in my cradle, plus, many of the new phones don't even offer a handsfree craddle.

I like the Motorola V557 and it was broken. I needed to replace it and the V557 is a great phone. I purchased it because of the good price on it. I received it quickly and very happy with shipping and product received.

Excellent GSM phone. Has headset port so you use headset and charge the phone (on the bottom) at the same time. Also has RF port for connection to car kit or external antenna. High quality, well built Motorola phone with good features such as IM, video, camera. For an older phone, this is a durable great phone. Also one of the few phones out there with a visible stubby antenna which provides improved reception/transmission as compared to the phones with built in antenna that gets covered up your hand. Speaker phone is excellent also.

Love the fact that this phone is darn near indestructable. Threw my old one at a dog chasing me and it never shut off. Dropped it into a Port-O-Potty, retrieved it, cleaned it in a sterilizer, reassembled it and turn right on and never stopped working. The reception is well above average or this phone as well. The battery life on this phone averages me about 3-4 days with considerable use. I have also grown accustom to the fact that this phone has unique features and once set never looses these settings. I had my original phone for over 3 years, it was dropped, kicked, thrown, drowned in poop, slid across the floor and the only result was this phone was very scarred up externally. If there was one drawback to this phone it would be that it lasts too long and is a little ugly and large...other than that, it is the best deal going. The display finally cracked on this one and had to replace it.

I liked this phone for about 3 weeks and then I asked myself why I got this terrible thing. It changes ring to silent in you pocket. Nothing on it is special and you can get all the same features and more in another phone. The only good thing after having it for 2 years is that you can drop it down the stairs a lot and it will not break (please do not try droping it down stairs or anything else).

This is an exact replacement for a phone I already had, that had broken.
The V557 is a full featured phone: camera, bluetooth, voice dialing from motorola, and those features are why I purchased the original phone.

Rugged, plenty of nice features, clear sound in and out, headset jack, bluetooth, nice color screen. These are great phones, well built and long lasting - I've dropped mine dozens of times and it is still in fine condition. I bought two more - one for my wife because her Nokia disintegrated in her hand, and the second one for me as a backup to my current V557. We own cell phones to call and talk and not to do stupid stuff like text and internet, which is what e-mail and notebooks are for, so these are great phones to use as phones. Yes, they do text and web, but we don't use those features. Millions of us just want phones and these are the best of the breed from the Motorola braintrust.

The phone is just fine but the batteries are not worth anything. Plan on buying a battery for the phone.

GOOD FOR WEAK OR NO SIGNAL AREAS, GREAT PRICE,GOOD FEATURES, WITH SHORTCUTS. FIRST PHONE LASTED 2 1/2 YEARS AND HAD TO HAVE ANOTHER JUST LIKE IT. NEW PHONES DOES NOT HAVE EXT. ANTENNA JACKS ON THEM. SO I BOUGHT 2 ONE FOR NOW AND ONE LATER FOR BACKUP...

its a simple cell phone with all of the necessary bands, and it has a cable connection that includes audio so that I can connect it to my dockntalk box which allows me to tie it into my wired home phones. I use this model phone for a home phone. I bought an extra one because we also use it when we visit our cottage in Michigan where cell service is non-existent. I connect it to a yagi high gain antenna to get cell service when it is not otherwise possible. This one has a more robust test port connector that can be used to connect the external antenna than some other phones and you don't need to take the battery out to connect it

I thought I was buying a good phone.But as it turned out it was not a good phone it's screen won't stay on,but it does look good LOL

I work in South Texas and had a V557 that fell out of my hands and broke. Apparently AT&T didn't realize that the signals in South Texas were nonexistant in some areas so they discontinued this particular phone. I bought a Razar and it was horrible, I have never dropped as many calls, didn't have a signal half the time, bought an external attena connection for $30.00 that didn't work. I absolutely love this phone and now have a couple in reserve just in case. This is the only phone that 95% of the people in South Texas use.
