Motorola T720 (Verizon Wireless)

The Motorola T720 series (depends on the carrier) is like many Motorola phones - revolutionary. The T720 / T720i was really the first uber-popular phone to do much of what is now common - text message, internet browse, color / animated screen, voice recognition, good ring tones, etc etc. But like the startac - once everyone else caught up, the T720 / T720i quickly became antiquated if you will. Just a couple years later, the phone appears a tad bulky and doesn't have some of the hippest features (ie an internal camera - though there an attachment camera). They are available at great prices on eBay - so if price is a factor for you, this is a winner. But here are my pros and cons:

pros:
* Completely customizable - cases, anetennas, etc. The T720 / T720i can be personalized unlike any other phone. This is a sweet plus!
* Great prices available on eBay
* All of the necessary phone capabilities
* Motorola's classic interface

cons:
* Major Con: If you talk enough, the clamshell / flip-phone will break! The hinge is very weak and twice gave out on me. Now I didn't treat it overly well, but be warned!
* A tad bulky by today's measures
* Collects lint farely well

In general - its no longer the hippest phone. But the T720 / T720i is a certainly capable.

I had this phone when I had service with Altell. I liked this phone ok, but after I had had the hone for a few years it started to get a little buggy. Sometimes I would receive a call but my phone would not ring and it was set to ring. The ringtones would sometimes change randomly and the battery had a really short life. On the positive side, it was easy to use and had great visual features. It was a great size to fit in my purse.

I decided to buy a used phone because I lost mine and needed one to use until my 2 year plan expires in August and I will be getting a new one. This phone was just like the one I already had so I knew it was a good phone and I would already know how to work it and all its features. I was kind of hesitent to buy this without seeing it or being able to try it out but I was really pleased when I received the phone. It was everything that the seller said it was.

I've had two of these now and both times the hinges broke. I have a cover on it, do not abuse them, but once the hinge goes, so goes the phone.
Other than than it is a very easy phone to use. Reception is always good, ringer is loud and it is confortable to hold. For a basic cell phone or a replacement its fine, but i'm going over to LG as several Verizon reps recommend.

The Motorola T720 was the first flip phone I owned. I was a little hesitant about the flip phones because of the war stories I heard regarding them breaking in half. But i decided to try it anyway. This was the toughest phone I ever had. Excellent reception, clear fairly large screen, large easy to use buttons, and pretty simple to navigate all its functions. The case is incredible, I dont know how many times it was dropped, and each time it worked like a charm. Ii kept this phone in my tool box and it lasted nearly 3 years, it didn't look that great, but each time I flipped open the phone it powered up instantly. It was a real workhorse. The only drawback was, like some Motorola phones now, it would turn itself off by itself occasionally. Never could get a reason why, but what the heck, it still worked great.

This phone is very easy to use,it has alot of good features such as Get It Now( download games and other cool stuff,GPS,911,Two way text and a web browser.The motoraloa T720 is light.
I never had a problem with it.

I had this phone for 2 years before selling it on eBay.
The phone works great, but the battery seems to go too quickly as compared to today's latest and greatest.

The product was in good condition. I bought it cause it was what I needed. I needed a phone that was simple and worked well.

Purchased this phone for the price as it seemed to be a good deal. Unfortunately I have had nothing but problems with it. This phone does not charge easily. I have had to spend 5 to 10 minutes connecting and disconnecting the charger as well as removing and re-installing the battery so the connection would take place. When flipping open the phone to receive a call, this action would disconnect most calls.
I'm disappointed in the seller for not providing previous history on this phone as these are the most common issues with this model. I had found out after the purchase and multiple issues.

My recommendation to others who would be interested in this phone - DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE

I bought this cell phone for my mother to use since hers had recently broken. I shipped the phone to her and it appeared to be in very good condition until it was time to charge it. The phone would not charge when plugged in. She bought a brand new charger and battery for the phone and it still would not charge. I took the phone to a Verizon store and the service rep told me the problem was internal and there was no way of correcting it. I am very dissapointed with the phone purchase and strongly believe that the seller should have mentioned that the phone was unchargeable in his advertisement.

its just a simple phone with no xtra features that makes it special to buy, no alarm, no camera, not very user friendly.

In its time, this was the phone that paved the way for todays phones. It is probably the best phone you can get for the budget minded. If you have kids, or looking to have extra lines you need this phone.
It is a flip phone. The reception is great. The color screen is excellent. I beleive it is one of the first to include GPS and Text Messaging and downloading Features. Multi pearsonlition features available.
I had this phone several years ago and for some reason, I get nostalgic for it. I dropped it may times and it NEVER went wrong. You got a color screen inside, and an outside screen as well (To see the number before answering it).
It has a cool aluminum casing and is the perfect size and weight to keep in a pouch or pocket.
The phone can be used as an FM radio should you purchase the special headset made buy Motorola (or a black market company). Verizon offered it on this model T-Mobile didn't (If you bought the phone through them) There is absolutely no charge for using this feature. You could navigate the FM stations by simply using the color screen. The Headset has both ear sets and should you receive a call, it would interupt the music, and and you could choose to answer or ignore call with a push of a button. You don't have to take off the headset because it has an attached mike as well.
There are many accessories for this phone. There is also a camera piece you can attach should you want to purchase (may not be available for Verizon users).
Consider buying this phone in bulk should you need more than one.
In its time I would rate this phone 5 of five. I rate it 4 of five only because advances have been made. Still it could have everything you want in a phone a at a cheap cost. Its a classic, you won't regret or look un cool in with.
You should see the T730 aswell. No real advances on the phone though so stick with the inovator not the duplicator.
The T730 did not last long anyway; They only looked different cosmetically. Weight, size, functions remained the same to me, in my estimation

Got this phone cheap on ebay. I was in dire need of a phone. I've had it for 6 months with NO problems. Even though I'm not the nicest with phones, the hinge seems to be fine. Accessories are dirt cheap since this is an older phone.
I highly recommend this phone if you are not looking for all the bells and whistles of a brand new phone, and only need to talk/text.

This unit looks like it's a refurbished phone but unfortunately I got the one that after being serviced still does not work properly.
Everytime I open the flip to answer a call the inside screen blinks on and then off a couple of times and hangs the call up. I am just using it for a couple of days until my actual phone comes back from service and I can't wait.
besides the flip open problem the reception is not so good on this unit either, I don't get good reception where I usually do with my other phone.

It is a good phone, but somehow my phone does not ring. Called moto cust service. they said it is a software problem??

Well to mention I only needed a phone for like 3 months and it didnt even make it that long. First the phone looks like it was just put together by my daughter. The phone looks good on seller page but nothing i had expected. I barely drop it and it just broke in half. (I also have the LG DARE and i have drop it and it hasnt broke, so you tell me). Sorry phone should of just went throw my insurance company but remember i only needed a phone for 3 months.

I used the t730c phone for 8 yrs. Being a large person I want a Cell phone to reach from ear to mouth, the t730c was ideal. I reviewed serval phones at that time and the t730c at that time offered tri-band signal. living in a coutry area it worked good. It had more features than I needed but it had features that was important to me. Droped several times but never lost or drop a call or signal, I had signal in area where my friend could'nt use their phone
Finally one drop bust it, yet it still work but had to hold it together. That's why I'm replacing with the same type t730c cell phone.

this phones everything and more than you can handle just behave and whatch as the motorolla t720 has s/e/x with you if your a guy that is it will suck you off

The shipping was very quick and phone came in good condition. I know the family has an issue at the time, but it did not affect my tranaction.

Purchasing this phone was a huge mistake! The seller did nothing wrong, the phone is just a P.O.S. Didn't even last 6 wks!! Terrible reception, constantly drops calls, etc. Don't waste your $$$ on this phone.
