Finally ... StarTac comes to CDMA ...

The StarTacs were THE cell phone to have in the 1990s ... The first ones cost near $1500! It wasn't until the new millenium when StarTacs would finally come to the CDMA network. In an unbelievable move, Motorola opted NOT to license the Qualcomm CDMA chipset and instead brewed their own. The results were plain -- a buggy phone with spotty reception. Verizon had a number of problems with this phone and eventually put it out of its misery. The phone itself had terrible build-quality problems -- mine started creaking on the first day of ownership. Ever see a StarTac with a limp, broken antenna? Or batteries that would last less than a whole day? This phone is not worth buying at all.
