I had replaced my Sony Ericsson with this Motorola L7 Itunes phone. I had it a few months. I have no complaints of signal or workmanship of the product.
What I like: Is the built in mp3 player. Also the ability to hook up to my computer with no hassle. Just a simple USB plug. I like this cause any picture I take using phone I can transfer easy to computer or from computer to phone too. Not like the older phones. With these, the only way to communicate or send pictures etc to computer is mostly by sending email by phone or use of special hook ups and drivers. A pain to obtain. But with THIS phone, its no problem.
What I don't like: Well there's alot here. First, the pictures on this phone is too small. (less than 1 megapixal) When I load to computer, picture is less than 1/4 the screen size. I cannot accept this size for my picture collecting library. So for me, the camera is useless! Second, Mp3 player can only do 100 songs. No matter the size of memory SD card is. No WMAs (windows media audio) in this player. Figures! (like apple ipods). One big thing I DON'T like here too. An adaptor is needed to use earphones for the mp3 player. If I loose it, it will be difficult to obtain another. Would like better if phone had a standard earphone jack on it instead of having to use the adaptor.
So overall, this phone is a little behind on todays technology. What would be so neat if could improve on this L7 would be:
1. Fit as many songs memory card can hold. Not stop at 100.
2. If camera was at least 1 megapixel (1.2 MP)
3. Having a standard earphone jack. NO special adaptors needed!

I was sick and tired of getting the phone that within a month, Cingular would have it as their "go phone/pre-paid phone" and wouldn't offer much support with it. I decided to dig deep in my pockets and purchase this phone, along with a special offer of free bluetooth set, free car charger, and a $50 rebate. The rebates now come in the form of Visa Cards. They are good to pay for ringtones, or anything that is less than $50.
To the phone itself:
Pros:
* Very thin phone that you can place in your pockets
* Itunes capability to put up to 100 songs on it (that is if you can make it past 20...see below)
* You can actually now save your ringtones onto a memory card or to the phone. Easier to take your tones with you if you ever switch phones.
* Variety of colors
* Save movies, photos, and more
* You can plug it into your computer to charge it.
Cons:
* Heavier than expected for it to be this thin
* Battery runs down fast if you play the MP3s a lot.
* Mine does not hold more than 20 songs in it.
* Speaker to carry conversation is VERY weak. Speaker to listen to music is very loud. I don't get the justification on this. What is the point of having speaker to talk if you can't hear a word even with the other person pretty much yelling?
* Bluetooth was not loud and it was like I had the phone to my ear. Salesman told me that it was louder than talking with speaker.
* The signal is poor at times and sometimes it takes 3 times to call someone before it connects on your end, even though the other person has picked up and been hung up on.
* Photos are not of good quality when uploaded to computer
* Even when phone is on silent, when you go to charge it (plug in, car, or via computer) you get a very loud beep. This can be very annoying.
* Contrary to the belief, you cannot use any or part of your mp3s as a ringtone.
* MP3s must be I-tunes capable. No WMA files allowed.
Overall, I would not recommend this phone as it is obviously overpriced for the features that don't work. I was shocked that for this to be a thinner phone that it was as heavy as it was. It was like Motorola took a step backwards. If you are looking for a phone to play MP3s (which you cannot use as ringtones), I would wait until this one is cheaper than $100 to purchase. Otherwise, you are wasting your money.

I have had this phone for 4 months now and I really like it.
Pros
-Itunes! I don't even need my Ipod anymore! it stores 100 songs, but you cannot expand your memory so you just have to change your 100 songs every so often.
-I like how thin and small it is. It fits perfectly in my back pocket without an enormous bulge that makes it hard to sit.
-its very easy to use, you don't even need a manual to figure this baby out.
-cute and stylish
-reasonably priced
-no damage to it if I drop it on the floor, or sit on it. pretty durable! I don't think I could step on it though.
-download ringers, games, pictues easily.
-I have had no problems with sound quality, speakerphone or hearing people well. All have been fine!
-I like the headphones, I like when I'm listening to Itunes, someone will beep in and I can use it as a headset too. But if you lose those your in trouble because they are special headphones from Cingular with a special hookup, so you can't just use regular old headphones.
Cons
-when using the internet on the phone, it is sooo slow to load pages. Sometimes it will take 45 seconds to a minute to load a page.
-the camera could be better. I try to take pictures of my black cats and they don't even show up! its like one big black blob.
-the keys are too close together. I text all the time and I hit the wrong buttons pretty often which can be VERY annoying. Also, if you live somewhere cold and wear mittens, you will always press the wrong keys! I try operating Itunes with gloves on and its impossible.
-occasionally I will have a hard time loading my cell phone into Itunes which means I can't put songs on it.
-can't use MP3's in itunes as ringers.
-disadvantage of it not being a flip phone is there is nothing to protect the screen or the keys.
Overall its a pretty sweet phone!

Great toy, not a PHONE

Its a great toy if you want to use a sleek mp3 player or camera. If you want to use as phone, good luck, has same problems as other motorola regarding signals. I used Nokia before this phone, and never had any problem with signals what so ever.

Won't switch betw numbers saved to SIM and the phone3 of 3 people found this review helpful.
I like the looks of the phone but its difficult to dial at times I miss-hit numbers. I have to switch between numbers saved to the SIM card and numbers saved to the phone so my speed dial dials something different when it's on the SIM saving mode than it does when it's on the phone saving mode. That's the only thing I dislike about it.

I enjoy using this phone because I would be at the gym and would always have my tunes to listen to. I get phone calls loud and clear and I can even take it in the sauna and out to the beach. The ultra slim capabilities is really cool too.

I decided to upgrade my razr to a slvr and im happy i did. This phone does everything the razr does and more.
goods:
Very thin phone.
Built in mp3 player.
Can hold up to 100 songs.
Records long videos.
Comes with a memory card (if you buy it new)
bads:
pictures are too small when transferred to the computer.
the speakerphone is not very clear.
the phone is kind of heavy.
Overall this is a great phone. If you are debating to get this phone or not, i advise you to get it.

I have used this phone from 3/2006 to 3/2007 with a 512MB micro SD card on the Cingular network and here is what I think about the Motorola Slvr L7.
Calls
- The clarity of incoming calls via the speaker phone is good and people can't tell if I am on speaker phone or not.
Video & Photo
- This is where I was disappointed. If a video file is over 30 or 40 seconds, the phone will display an error and not play it. I've written to Motorola about this and they told me that was normal. Can't torture your eyes by watching tv shows or movies on that little screen - unless they are less than 30 sec.
- The quality of the videos and photos taken with this camera is mediocre and come out grainy. Even when viewed in the phone.
iTunes
- No matter how big of a micro SD card you have, the iTunes program in this phone will only hold and play a max of 100 songs, if you have the memory.
- Sounds quality is decent using the included headset. Handy when you need to save space and leave the iPod at home.
Physical attributes:
- Nice slim phone. Fits nicely in a pocket book, but the keypad is easy to manuever for people with small to large fingers.
- Easy to chip the left and right sides of the phone.
- Screen is prone to scratches, fingerprints, etc. (same problem with every phone that I have ever owned)
Ringtones & Games
- Not much of a variety of either.
- You can make small mp3 files into ringtones for your phone. Again, there is a limit on the length of the mp3. I place the mp3's on the micro SD card.
Menu navigation
- I am comparing the menu navigation to previous Nokia and Sony Ericsson phones that I have used. The menu is a bit more complicated than the Nokia menu, but simpler than Sony Ericsson's menu. It's easy to get used to.
Other:
- The ability of the phone to connect to the computer via the included USB data cable is great.
- Battery life is good, but runs out twice as fast if you are playing music or have Java applications such as a game on. Remember to quit those programs if you are not using them.

Make sure you get the L7 SLVR, not the stripped down L6 or L2. The L7 has the cool mp3 palyer (iTunes in the Cingular version, Digital Media Player in the other versions) that is easy to load your favorite songs to. The sound through the stereo ear buds is great! The swappable mini SD card is a must-have.
The camera is adequate for most spur-of-the-moment snapshots, as is the video recorder. Phone functions are simple, quick and clear.
What more can you ask form a cell phone?

I think it is a fun phone with music and takes great pics. It doesn't seem to hold as many songs as advertised. Mine holds 89 instead of 100 - so to get more songs you might need a bigger memory card.

THE PHONE WAS IN GOOD USED CONDITION (SOME SCRATCHES) BUT WORKS JUST FINE. I LIKED THE FEATURES OF IT BECAUSE THEY WERE ALMOST LIKE THE FEATURES ON MY KRZR THAT BROKE. EVERYTHING WORKS ON THE PHONE AND I HAVE NO PROBLEMS WITH IT WHATSO EVER.

Bought this as a replacement phone for my son. Price was reasonable. The phone is very functional and has the features he wanted. He also really likes the iTunes player and it has basically replaced his iPod, even though it is smaller in capacity.

I like the phone itself - my original sliver was stolen so this is the reason I bought this one cause I did not want to get another 2 year contract. The phone works perfectly, received it quickly, and have been using it ever since I got it with no problems. The phone is exactly what I wanted.

I bought the phone for my daughter because she liked mine so well. The pink SLVR L7 was just what she wanted. Of course I had to get the pink blue tooth to go with it. My daughter is 30 but you would have thought she was 13 the way she carried on about the phone. Having itunes on the phone makes it great for work so she can listen to her favorite tunes and just 'chill'. Her phone actually has better range than my SLVR L7, I guess because mine is one of the first models.

Motorola SLVR L7
This is quite good phone but still it has some typical sympthoms typical for Motorola. Like most Motorola phones it looks really good and for quite long time it was slimest phone on market (113 x 49 x 11.5 mm). Its light and you could even put it in to pocket of your shirt. Its really well build and metal casing guarantee good durability of phone so you dont need to worry. Quality of display (size 30x37mm) is very good with resolution 176x 220 pixels and sharp picture. On other hand camera in this model is not that good and offers only VGA resolution (640x480 256k colors) which is good just for really fast snapshots. This phone could quite well work as MP3 player (especially if you install iTunes on it) but for this you will have to use microSD memory card because telephone it self has only 11MB memory (5MB free for user). Due to its slim and narrow design other people sometimes could echo while talking with you. Only way how to avoid this is stick phone really close to cheek while you speaking. Key pad is typical made in Motorola and after while you will love it. Because it has miniUSB connector you could easily recharge it from USB port thats usefull if you have notebook always with you. Phone has no irda just Bluetooth which works quite well.
Thats it about hard part. Soft part is the part where Motorola SLVR L7 has most weakneses. Default menu is not really good at least you have option to customize it. Weakspot is SMSing where you cant even setup automatic confirmation of sent messages :( iTap is quite good alternative to T9 (word prediction) but has some flaws especially if you dont use different language then english. Calendar is quite good but I dont think that someone would really use it since you have to buy special software for synchronizing with Outlook. I think Motorola SLVR L7 is really good phone if you want fancy phone and dont need three billions of other mostly useless functions.

All in all I have very little complaints about this phone.
PRO's
- Screen is same size as the V551/V557 all in all a great screen quality.
- BlueTooth works perfectly, no problems with any of the headsets i have tryed it with. (h500, h700, hs820, hs850)
- iTunes is hackable to 1000 songs in about 5 minutes of work
- Has better reception then the V557 and a little bit better then the RAZR
- Has 3 hours more talk time then the RAZR
Con's
- iTunes only comes standard with 100 song limit
- Only up to a 1gb Flash Card is available
- Bluetooth does reset the volume to 4 every now and again.

Not thrilled with the SLVR. Buttons are too small and close so I'm always hitting the wrong one. Antenna is not as strong as other phones I've had. Everything else is fine.

I bought the phone about a month ago and i loved it! I had it stolen from me during practice at school. I loved the phone because of its storage. i had about 50 ring tones and i got all of them from Bluetooth for FREE!!! i had almost 100 songs on the phone and listened to them everyday. I loved the way you could switch things to different storage devices. I would recommend it to anyone! I am going to buy another that’s for sure!!!

This is a great phone. It does not have as many features as the blackjack and newer phones on the market, but for me it gets the job done. I needed a good phone, with normal features, had I been a CEO or something then I would get one of the other phones. The I-tunes feature is great and is remarkably loud. With the Motorola tools CD you can create your on ringtones and graphics, no reason to shop for them. The one thing I dislike about Moto phones is that the ringer profile changes each time you charge it. Another beef I have with the phone is that it does not plainly tell you which is the missed call, and the phone book makes triple entries for one person that has a cell, house, work number... I don't like my phonebook being three times longer than it has to be, but still I recomend this phone to anyone looking for an everyday cell, and not one with features that will lay untouched.

This is a great phone and it is thin. I got this to throw in my pants pocket. Besides the nice features, this phone looks great. I think it is one of the best looking phones on the market.

I love this phone. It has a sleek design and the same concept that a razor has only better features. I tunes is great, you only have to carry around on product in stead of two, if you are a big music listner.
