Being an owner of this phone I have been able to get to know the phone quite well. Being a long time fan of Motorola phones, this is first one I am not overly excited about owning. I will start will the cons of the phone. The reciever sensitivity (How well the phone picks up the signal) is lacking. Having owned many motorola phones previous to this one, I find that is doesn't work in near as many places as my Motorola E815 did. I am not sure but I have a feeling that is Verizon's fault. By placing their User Interface over Motorola's software they disable many features of the phone and substantially reduce the quality of those that remain. As with the V3c, the delay in the menu navigation is still there, however it is greatly improved upon. The ringer volume is a little on the quite side. The bluetooth as with all verizon phones has been crippled so if you have a handsfree system in your car that can store the phone book you are out of luck. The battery life with the original battery will not get you through the day with the bluetooth turned on, that is will minimal talking. Without the bluetooth you can expect to be able to use maybe 200-250 minutes without needing to recharge the battery. Car Charges are a very good investment with this phone.

Now for the good about this phone. It is carrying the nations most reliable network available. The addition of a MicoSD(TransFlash) card slot makes the phone way better. RAZR's internal memory also normally lacked, however Verizon has upped the number to 40 megabytes(about 25 is usable due to Verizon interface). The Camera quality is just as good my E815 except in low light conditions, the lack of a flash is kind of a bummer, but I use a real camera in low light so that I have a real flash. This phone feels very solid and well constructed unlike the RAZR sold by T-Mobile and Cingular. Overall I find this to be a good phone. If you want the small size and are willing to sacrifice a little battery life, I would recommend this phone to you.

If I have raised any questions in your mind feel free to ask.

big things come in small packages!

Yes, yet again, Verizon Wireless's dummy employee (that being me) decides to review yet ANOTHER phone from the company haha! But hey, the Razr wasn't first by Verizon Wireless anyway (Cingular stole it first), so I guess I can cut myself a bit of slack.

Anyway, the Motorola RAZR V3M is now on a CDMA platform...finally! And I'm here to review it, ladies and gents! ;-)

The RAZR has sold for such a long time for its slimness factor and ease of transport. Consumers typically like sexiness and form factor (myself included), so I can see why Motorola has made a smart move to have such an awesome device and have such a market share on it. The fact that Verizon has one now is just going to make the device sell that much more.

Now for my opinion...it seriously rocks, not only for its factor, but its features! With V Cast/EV-DO technology, 1.3MP camera/video camera, onboard memory, and (yes!) a microSD card with TXT/PIX/FLIX messaging and MP3 player, it just is an all-in-one device for what you're looking for.

But wait, many other phones have these features, so what sets this one apart? The keypad is smooth, the reception (from what I've used) is awesome, and it just is so slim to slip in even the smallest pocket or deepest purse.

Here's why I'm giving it 4/5 stars. The RAZR just doesn't have the sturdiness factor that I require on a cell phone. I'm a klutz and drop my phone all the time; it's just a fact of life I've had to get used to lol. Not saying the RAZR is complete junk (it is hard to break actually), just saying I do put some abuse on the phone, which doesn't help me too often there.

Also, the battery life because of such a small factor just doesn't cut what I need in a cell phone. (Its talk-time is limited to about 205 minutes.) I had the same issue with the A900 Samsung with Sprint, which is why I veered away from this phone.

Personally? Try looking at the Samsung A930 or LG Chocolate phones as they have the same features but better reception and a more sturdy frame. But then again, for slimness, we enjoy looking hot on our cell phones right? ;-)

Best phone with Solid design out there.
Review created: 12/07/06

Unlike other phones that feel like plastic, the RAZR has a solid feel to it. This phone is feature packed. I have the Alltel version, and they do not reload the menus in the phone like Verizon does. They also do extensive testing on their phones before releasing them (why some phones are released late with Alltel).
A previous reviewer on here must not have known how to use the phone correctly, but I would like to address the following:
- Reprogrammable shortcut keys, allows 1 button access to calculator, other tools, and calander (day of the week).
- I have not experienced any lags between menus
- Text messages are fast for me (Alltel Service)
- Time, day, and Date is on my external display

  Great Phone Great Price

I bought the phone for my son to replace the one he got when he signed on to verizon wireless, the original got water damage. He was not eligible for an upgrade, this phone is exactly like his old one, works great, he has had no problems with the phone. The price was a big plus! Cost about only half a much as a new one if you were to go out and buy one! I was skeptical at first to buy a cellphone with out seeing it first, but my son loves the phone.

Motorola RAZR V3m, Better or worse?
In my opinion the original Motorola V3 was not a very good phone. Sure it looked nice and had a camera but I really thought Motorola could do better than that and thats why they came out with the RAZR V3m. The original RAZR V3 had a camera but only had a mere 10mb of storage. To me that isn't enough especially if you are going to take videos and store music. But on the V3m they upgraded the memory to 30mb and as an added bonus put in a micro sd slot for adding even more memory which for me is a must have to store music. On the V3m they also added cdma support which makes it way more compatible with different carriers around the world. Overall if I was to buy another RAZR I would definitely go with the V3m instead of the previous model because I really cant find anything that great about the original. As far as the durability it's decent but cant stand too much abuse. For me my all time favorite cell phone is the Motorola v710. Check out my other reviews for the v710 and be sure to click yes below.
Thanks, for reading and participating in my review.

  RAZR V3M
Review created: 09/11/06(updated 05/27/09)

I bought this phone 3 weeks ago and liked the slim design that would allow it to slip into nearly any pocket. Just got back from a 5 day trip and many times it would not show any bars while my wifes Audiovox 8900 would show 3 or 4 bars. She could make calls while my RAZR would show NO SERIVCE. When you push a button on the side it almost always causes you to press the opposite button since they are aligned so closely. I find the battery does not last as long as advertised. 5-27-09 I have now used this phone for over 3 years with the same battery and although it does not last as long as I would like it still works for 1 to 2 days before recharging. I like the phone well enough not to change to another brand.

Before getting this phone i did much research..i guess i missed the reviews about all the bad things.. ive only had this phone for two weeks.

CONS:

1)lag time between menus
2)it takes close to two minutes to delete texts
3)grease build up left on the phone
4)you cant send a text message by using your speed dial
5)theres no auto erase option in the text messaging settings menu
6)i dont like where the battery connector is located
7)this phone does not display the day of the week on it
8)does not display the time on the external display while your on the phone
9)has that sprint logo on the external display, i dont see how i can change
that
10)for how much this phone cost, there should not be this many problems
11)takes forever to for a text to go through

Now i dont know about any of the other features like the tv, the music player or the bluetooth yet..i havent used these features yet..i am seriously thinking about returning this phone i have a couple of weeks to decide. Maybe ill get a PDA phone since all i do mostly is text..

PROS:

1)i love the itap for text messaging
2)easy to handle with one hand
3)clear reception
4)its cute

  SPRINTS MOTORAZR V3M
Review created: 11/03/06
3 of 6 people found this review helpful.

I Got this phone a few days ago, even before it's out in stores and i'am already having problems with this phone. I will list the pros and cons of this phone.

PROS:
Service is great compared to my old phones
Great for texting
Camera is way better then my LG, seems to be very clear.
Simple, yet fun features
Can use speakerphone while phone is closed
Speakerphone is very clear and easy to speak and hear
Comes with a SD card to save images/videos/music onto your computer
Sleek design

CONS:
Battery power is weak, if you use phone often you will need to charge daily
Freezes up
Very slow to respond to buttons pressed to go to menu
When it does freeze, it takes 10 seconds or more to fix, and then the phone looses service and locks the phone (if you do have a lock code)
Screen is now having fuzz marks at the top
Phone picks up grease on hands very easy
Need power vision to use web unless you want your bill to be very high, which is an extra $15.00 for power vision.

These problems listed above are often, and very annoying. I plan to contact sprint and let them know I want a replacement as this is within the first 30 days. I've had this less then 4 days and already having problems.

Do I recommend? Unless your paying $49.99 for this phone, I wouldn't buy this phone, its not worth all the hype about it and you'll have to deal with returning it and sitting on the phone, etc.

I will edit or make another review once this phone starts to work better, or I get my replacement, if I continue to have problems I will have to get another phone.

OVERALL RATING: As of now....I would give this a 2.5 out of 5. Why? for the price, its not worth it dealing with the current issues.

This is my fourth RAZR V3m purchase, I buy them for all family members. We're very pleased with all of them, considering the slimness, they're suprisingly hardy and abuse tolerant. I've never had better range with any other phone.

Best Non-PDA Cell Phone with Storage Card
Review created: 01/25/08
by:
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

The v710 was my favorite non PDA/Smartphone until the RAZR V3m. The "m" model contains a storage card capability and Now the v3m is my favorite non-business mobile phone. I tested the telephone for two weeks, while my Smarthphone was being updated.

RECEPTION
The reception is extremely clear; comparable to a landline or Vonage phone. During the two week trial period, there were not any dropped calls.

I was pleasantly surprised to the signal as I was accustomed to the Smartphone dropping the calls on the same line. The speaker phone works loud and very comparable to my TreoWX, without the typical cell phone feedback background noise

MP3
Fun, fun, fun. I removed the storage card from my HP PDA (2495) and TreoWX and used inserted it into the Razr...music and videoes galore! The songs and videos were very clear. Impressive.

CAMERA
The camera was typically mobile, nothing more nor less. A great tool for sending the spouse out as a grocery shopping tool or accident scene. The video function is a cute feature to be used as well indoors or daylight.

TEXTING
Keys are large and clear. The illumination is excellent in dark places. The response time for sending and receiving texts were also immediate.

BLUETOOTH
It synced with my PDA, headsets, Smartphones, and et cetera with great ease.

HEADSETS
Absolutely terrible. Useless. They hurt your ears! I also bought this telephone for my sister's as a graduation present; her only complaint - the headset.

DESIGN
Flip design. LOVE IT! Very very comfortable, making the bluetooth headset unnecessary. I was able to multitask while speaking, even on those long personal calls.

Thinness - fits nicely in front coin pockets, back pockets, and even those "hidden" places... even with the faceplate!

RECOMMENDATION
A screen cover is recommended to protect it from sweat.

OVERALL
Thin. Pretty, as a junior staff loves to call it..lol. Excellent reception. Durable. If a PDA/Smartphone is not needed then this is a great phone.

I got my new razor as planned with no problems. My phone worked great and looks brand new. I was also promised an ear piece which then came several weeks later. I decided to buy the phone because I was looking for a new verizon phone.
Thank You

V3m is great, but not perfect
Review created: 12/28/06
by:
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

I've owned this phone for a few months now, and can safely write a review with the knowledge I've gained.
The phone (OEM) lacks alot of features (using Verizon) that other carriers allow, but can easily be modded to change/add/unlock features.
Sprint doesn't block these festures like Verizon does. There is also an "Alltel" firmware that is available (search).
I modded my phone, and can now make my own ring tones (free), transfer pictures/videos/movies (free) using MPT (Mobile Phone Tools).
Once all the features are "unlocked" using SEEM edits (search) this phone simply becomes "GREAT"!
The phone itself it sleek, thin, but almost unbearably w i d e.
The built-in camera is decent at best, but lack of any flash makes taking any worthy pictures almost impossible, unless outdoors in sunlight. But even then, over-exposure is a problem. Definately use a regular ol' camera if you want a decent picture.
Movies can be recorded as well, but are limited to 15 seconds, unless you "mod" the phone, and then you can get almost 5 minutes of video!
Overall I'd have to say this phone is built for modders in mind, as once done so the phone is 150% better than OEM.
Before I modded this phone, I nearly sent it back to Verizon because of all the disabled features that only Verizon disables. If you use another carrier, then you should be fairly happy with OEM.

The battery....well, it is horrible, but again, can be made acceptable with "mods".
And last but not least..FREE WAP!! (again, with mods).

Good OEM phone, GREAT modded phone.
Digital only, so the signal will usually be lower than Tri-Mode phones, but depending on your area this may or may not be a problem.

  Don't get this phone
Review created: 11/19/06

2 of 3 people found this review helpful.

I have had 4 razrs in the last year. The first one abruptly stopped functioning a month after I bought it. The second gradually became inaudible until I could no longer hold a conversation unless the other person was shouting. The third emitted a loud, migraine-inducing buzzing noise, and the fourth garbles the voice of whoever I'm speaking to beyond recognition. I understand that defective phones happen, but 4 in a row seems a bit much. Everyone I have ever known has had problems with their razrs as well.

I also live in an area with reception issues and the razr has been consistently terrible at picking calls and maintaining them.

So if you want a phone that looks cool and with lots of nifty features, and live in the city, and don't mind exchanging your phone every 1-3 months, I recommend this phone. For anyone who wants to talk on the phone, for the love of God find another phone, because this is the most overhyped piece of technology I've ever had the misfortune of owning.

RAZR V3M - Sleek and Stylish
Review created: 09/07/06
2 of 4 people found this review helpful.

I recently upgraded from the larger motorola handset, as I have a habit of destroying phones. I finally got the RAZR, vowing to keep it in one piece longer than most of my phones.

So far, I've done just that. I love the small portability, and when combined with the bluetooth handset the phone is out of sight out of mind, and most importantly for me, out of harms way.

It works well, is feature-packed, and does everything it claims to do well.

My only gripe might be that when you get such a small phone, the buttons are smaller, therefore making it hard for people with pudgy fingers (not really) to push the buttons. I actually have very normal fingers and I frequently mash the wrong numbers when dialing or entering my voicemail passcode.

Overall, performance of the phone is excellent, clairity is very good, the speakerphone works well, picture quality is better than most, and the integrated SD memory card slot is truly a blessing.

I bought the razor like everyone else, thinking it was the ultimate. While it is a good phone, great memory for music downloads and ringtones, the battery power is lacking. Be sure to keep a spare charger in teh car and at home and/or office. It was difficault at first to learn how to change my settings, but once I figured it out, we were good to go. Speaker phone-forget it. Good camera though.

I love the phone. I love all the options that the phone offers and especially the red color.
I bought the phone because my current phone was not dependable and it was not time to get a reduced price new phone through my verizon service.
This phone offers easy to set-up bluetooth which allows me to have handsfree phone calls with no cords (which is a huge benefit to me). The bluetooth actually uses the same charger that my phone uses so, it is very convenient to have only one charger for both.

  This or the W385?
Review created: 04/02/08
by:
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

It was the motorola v3m razr or the w385 for me. I had a v710 and a e815 previously and liked the reliability and feel of the phone. The razr's keys are a lot easier to use than those of the earlier phones, which was my main gripe with those phones. I rarely use the camera on my phone. I don't use the music player on my phone. I don't text. I rarely go online with it. I just use the phone as a phone. That means the phone has to be easily held in one hand, propped on the shoulder, have a good speakerphone, good audio, and a straightforward contacts list. This phone meets all of those criteria in one thin, lightweight package. Ultimately, I chose the razr over the w385 for the sole fact that there is easy availability of customization tools. If you haven't found hacktherazr.com yet, I'd suggest a look!
