Motorola Moto Q 9m

So, I happen to own this phone...or should I say, I DID own this phone before I lost it a few weeks ago :'(. But, I figure I may as well say what I think about the device for those of you looking to get one.

The Q9m is a much-better version of its predecessor, the Moto Q. With twice the built-in memory, a better-designed ergonomic keyboard, Windows Mobile 6 Standard, and Verizon Wireless's network, the Q9m is definitely a standard smartphone to look into.

Here are its specifications: 1.3MP camera, full QWERTY keyboard, Windows Mobile 6 Standard Ed., thumbwheel navigation, dual screens (one for multimedia, the other for standard Windows Mobile 6 usage, BroadbandAccess Connect for modem tethering, Wireless Sync/Pocket Outlook for email usage, Documents To Go for editing, viewing, and emailing standard Microsoft Office files (Word, Zip, PDF, Excel, and Powerpoint), miniSD card functionality up to 32GB in size (currently 4GB is the largest available), Bluetooth wireless connectivity along with A2DP for BT Stereo and more BT functionality (see vzw.com/bluetooth) and EV-DO/1X service while on the CDMA network.

For usage, the phone does not require you to enter Windows Media Player as it did prior; the multimedia screen allows for playing your music, videos, and pictures right on the screen without opening WMP. HUGE plus for saving memory while playing. And, with a Bluetooth Stereo headset, listen to your music wirelessly!

For business usage, push the red media button on the bottom right of the keyboard to switch from media mode to standard mode to view text messages, emails, etc. from the Start menu (you can still do so from the multimedia screen as well too). And, with 64MB for running your applications, this version doesn't freeze as often as the previous Q used to. Finally, with Windows Mobile 6 versions, you can now view FULL HTML email in your email inboxes along with better support for syncing and transferring data between your computer and this smartphone, including bluetooth.

Typing on the device and navigation is a lot simpler, as well. On the previous, it was difficult to type as the keyboard felt stiff and clunky. The newer phone is much easier to type on and is more user-friendly. And the thumbwheel on the right side is easier to scroll and doesn't stick out as far as it did prior.

Really, I gave this phone a 4 just because it is new, and I switched it for the i760, which I LOVE (see my review on that phone as well).

But overall, if you're more of a media fan with less need for email, this phone is definitely for you. Check it out at a Verizon Wireless store. =)
