With the recent commercials on tv and the release of the Q, i'll write one up.
The Motorola Q certainly knows how to make an impression, it is thin as heck, and very stylish. Ever since its introduction almost a year ago, this smart phone has generated a lot of buzz for its ultrathin form factor. Of course, Motorola generated a lot of the hype itself by touting the Q as the "thinnest QWERTY device in the world." And now after a number of delays, the Q finally is here, and thankfully, it delivers in performance and style. It offers good call quality, an outstanding multimedia experience, and the tools to keep business users productive on the go, such as Windows Mobile 5 Smartphone Edition, EV-DO, and e-mail support. For the ultimate road warriors who need full functionality for editing documents from the road, however, they may want to opt for a Windows Mobile Pocket PC phone, such as the Palm Treo 700w. That said, however, it'll be hard to resist the Q's sexy packaging. Is this a good marketing strategy by Motorola? Definitely. For now, the Moto Q will be sold exclusively through Verizon Wireless for a fair price of $199.99, along with a two-year contract and a $100 instant rebate. Verizon's BroadbandAccess service plans start at $79.99 for 450 anytime minutes with unlimited data usage. Motorola said it would start GSM/UMTS trials by the end of the year.

Now, if you could always afford the top of the line phone, then go for it, but to be more practical, the average cell-phone user wouldn't need this phone, it is designed to appeal to the business-on-the-go individuals who can't live without their documents and spreadsheets. Although the Motorola V3 is getting a little common now, but it is still a better choice for the average cell-phone user, thin, stylish, great functions, and you get to keep a little green in your wallet.

Perfect for staying in touch with email - Easy to shoot, then attach photos to emails. Or just save the photos and show them on your screen to others. The screen is so chrisp and clear, you'll read the tiny type on web pages you search, easily. And you'll bring up entire web pages and scroll or click any link on them. I am most amazed by the coverage. I've had T-Mobile, Cingular, Sprint, and now Verison. I travel between Chicago and Iowa, and when driving, by mid-state every other service cuts out. But Verison gives me strong, constant coverage anywhere. I picked up my Motorola Q 6/4/6. In about two months, on 8/7/6, the Motorola Q froze up and the screen went crazy. Circuit City promised immediate replacement, but had to send me across the road to Verison because they were all sold out. The Verison store had counter help who replaced the phone only after giving me the hardest time about not being able to look at the old phone, not being able to transfer my contacts, and generally not giving me the time of day. Finally, I was able to peal away the nasty layers of this person after informing him he was the least cooperative person I've ever spoken to in my life. From there, he got better and I left with my new phone a few minutes later. End of his work day, maybe it had been a rough one for him. You'll love the calendar, the web browser, the email abilities, the remarkably clear sharp screen, the phone contact options (add the picture to the caller ID, add a special ring tone, etc) It remembers who you last dialed so calls are quick. Ready to call? Push "contacts" and your entire list is ready. Push one letter and every name with that letter, first or last, comes up for quick selection and calling. It even tries to help you type emails, by finishing words - which on occassion sends out a laughable "Daddy" instead of my usual "Dad" so watch what it tries to say. I've not fully adjusted to being able to take full advantage of the phone"s word-guesses yet. You'll put this phone in your shirt pocket and not realize it's there. There's a carrier for your belt, but I don't like it. The phone is small, flat, and yet it has a keyboard with individual keys that's big enough, barely. To your surprise, you can find you can type one handed - or one thumbed. The big monitor screen you'll love. The camera is wonderful for taking "notes" in the store on prices or products, to ponder later. Good camera. Easy and quick to use. Easy to save, blow up or delete pictures. The phone has an ability to record voice notes but I've not tried it. You'll feel a bit stupid talking into what seems like a double cheese cracker, but it is clear sound for listening and sending. They boast about their screen scrolling feature, but I find it unnessary. Same with the recall button. I am more comfortable with the return arrow. You'll know what that means when you play with this phone. I wish the two "push" places just under the screen were slightly raised areas rather than flat. They blend too much into the screen above and the button below, but honestly, it is really difficult to find serious fault with this phone after having experience with a lot of phones and PDAs. I was disappointed they didn't have a set-up with Mac computers yet. The phone doesn't really stop traffic like the RAZR, but you'll love how useful it is. I keep meaning to read the nice instruction manual that comes with the phone, but it is so easy to set up and so much fun to use, I've not had time.

Great phone if you need to have email access away from the office. Web browser is much better than standard mobile applications. As a phone it works great and doesn't drop calls. Only drawback is the battery goes dead quick. I've heard the bigger battery will cure this problem.

This review is for the Motorola Q PDA Smartphone (on Sprint). The Moto Q is exceptional; however, it is for the more experienced user. Regular cell phone users upgrading may initially find this phone confusing and frusturating; however, once you can get past the learning curve you can realize the true beauty of the phone/pda combo. Since this phone/pda uses the Windows Mobile 5 OS, any recent PDA user should be right at home. This phone is really only enjoyable if you have the web service, which generally costs extra (Bluetooth is available; however, WIFI is NOT). After all, the biggest lure of this phone is the full keyboard and if your not texting, e-mailing, or web surfing then what is the point?

This phone has received a series of mixed reviews. For examples visit cnet.com and epinions.com. I think a large part of these descrepancies are from inexperienced users who wanted a cool new phone, but don't want to take the time to learn the phone.

The phone reception is better than average and even with its full keyboard can still easily fit in my pocket. The bluetooth is easy to setup and works quite well. This phone has vibrate or ringtone and even an automatic setting to keep the phone in vibrate mode during scheduled meetings and change to normal ring during downtime. Unfortunately, you cannot have both ring and vibrate, which is a basic function for almost all other phones.

Battery life-- this phone has taken some real heat in terms of a lack of battery life; however, mine can go 3 days with regular usage and no charging. The lack of battery life comes from two USER flaws 1) just like a laptop the more the processor is working the quicker the battery will die. To fix this just multi-task as you normally would, but close all programs when finished using the kill all function under the task manager. Secondly, adjust the backlighting and "auto checking" in terms of syncing and e-mail checking.

Connection to Macs require additional $30-$40 software; however, some bluetooth functions work right out of the box such as sharing contacts and transferring Mp3s. Connection to PCs is basic using the included active sync and bluetooth or included usb cable.

Final thoughts--With a few freeware programs and the built in Windows Mobile 5 operating system and WITHOUT going through internet explorer, this phone can connect to my google calendar for free, adjust my ringtone level based on whether or not I am in meetings, check and write my gmail, pop mail, and corporate mail, use any Mp3 as a ringtone, play games (like a Tetris clone), and provide organized up to date information such as weather, movies, news, and sports. The internet explorer browser does an okay job for browsing the webs although websites are not as functional or eaasy to navigate as they would be on a computer. The speaker phone allows works excellent.

P.S. I called Motorola to protest about the phone not including a headset and Mini-SD card. They 2-day Fedexed me both items for free not even a shipping charge.

Execellent Device, as a technician I will not write a review on a device I've not used for atleast 2 to 3 months and this is no exception. This device is not a PDA it's what's called a smart phone it has all the options of a PDA except for 2 things which go hand in hand. A touch screen and able to edit documents. If you don't have the need to edit documents on the go this is the device you need to look at.

Battery Life (Must turn off IR Beam to save battery which comes by default as on) also I need extended battery to keep from charging everyday before 2 pm
Can't end processes without going into task manager
Not enough internal memory which causes resets(device powering on and off)

I've tried Blackberry and the Treo neither of them fit the needs or reliability of the Moto Q

I recently purchased 2 Moto Q phones, one to replace my Treo 600, and the other to replace my wife's Samsung SCH670. The buying experince was less then satisfactory with the Verizon people ranging from ignorant about the product to down right rude, but the phone is great. Slow start up is my main gripe but the then I tell myself it is a windows based computer.

I wanted a PDA for appointments, a cell phone in one device and this is it. I chose not to subscribe to the internet and I still think the phone is worth the price.

Is is easy to use and the manual is well written.

Overall it is a great compact phone and does everything they claim.

This phone was not what I expected it to be. I am having more problems with it than the phone I bought it to replace. It shuts off randomly, the majority of the time I don't recieve phone calls just the voicemail that people leave, and it freezes up. I have decided to switch back to my old phone because of all of the problems. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

I wanted a phone with web capabilities and a good phone. I am still trying to figure out the many functions but this has been a very good purchase.

The good: The Motorola Q boasts a sexy, ultrathin design and features a sharp display, a full QWERTY keyboard, EV-DO support, and a sharp multimedia functionality. The Windows Mobile 5 smart phone also has integrated Bluetooth, a speakerphone, a 1.3-megapixel camera, and solid call quality.

The bad: The Motorola Q lacks integrated Wi-Fi and analog roaming, and you can't use its Bluetooth as a wireless modem. The screen also tends to hold a lot of smudges, and there's no option for a cameraless version at this time.

The bottom line: The Motorola Q lives up to much of the hype by offering good call quality, an excellent multimedia experience, and the essential productivity tools, all wrapped up in a sexy little package.

I buy this phone for the color, and when i got it, it was what i expected, good condition...when i open the packed blow my might, i was excited it is the phone i always wanted

The Moto Q is my first "smart phone". I like having a phone with a QWERTY keyboard and the ability to sync with my Mac. The phone works well, though it's a bit slow when you wish to start the camera. The keyboard is a bit small for middle-aged eyes. Otherwise, I'm perfectly happy with it.

I purchased this item at a fraction of the cost I would have paid for it from my current carrier. My questions were answered before my purchase, so I had
no concerns regarding the purchase of a fully flashed phone. I will return to this seller when I upgrade again.

Excellent place to buy a phone.

What I like about the phone is the screen and keypad. The Microsoft software.
And that it could be Flashed to use my Cricket service. It has great fetures The low price.

What I don't like about it is that it didn't work when I traveled to an area that the Cricket website said it should work in. I guess it is an out dated phone.

But I still like it and can use it in my area. My next purchase will be an updated version of this phone.

I like the screen of this phone and its great for texting. I don't like that its hard to lock, so I end up pushing the buttons a lot. Also, has a short battery life, but I think most all of them with this size screen do. Overall pretty good phone for the $70 or so bucks!

I like the way it look its not bulk phone its nice and thin and it had a good price on it and I also like the color. Also easy to see the keyboad to text with.

The open face is a bit worrisome, otherwise it work fine. I haven't tried a lot of things with it yet. Texting is easy. The blue tooth feature is perfect for driving.

Worked for about 5 weeks then died. Our cell provider said they were the worst phones they had ever seen. They stopped selling them because of all of the repair problems.

it's ok but not great ! i have had it for a bit and am learning to live with it but every thing you want to do you must do ten things to get there. like i said it's ok but not any thing like it sould!

I'm constantly going through the freebie cell phones that I get. I think they're just built to die over the smallest things. Once I "submerged" a phone in a 2mm splash of water on the kitchen counter and it died. Once I closed a flip phone too hard and it broke. The only phone I've had so far that has been able to show me love is my old Blackberry.

Recently we switched to Verizon and I couldn't use the Blackberry anymore. Instead of opting for the free phone, I upgraded to the Centro. That death was my fault. It fell out of my shirt pocket straight into two feet of water. To it's credit, the thing will power up...but the buttons wont work.

When I saw this listing for TWO Moto Q's, I jumped on it. A friend of mine bought a Q when it was new to the market a few years ago and it STILL works. I can now brag to her that I bought two of them for $50 (I think she said she bought hers for over $300). :-D

It looks durable, and the QWERTY is spaced a LOT nicer than the Centro I had. I'm almost happy that it died.
