Motorola MOTORIZR Z3 (Unlocked)

I have been using the Motorola Motorizr Z3 with a 512MB micro SD card for 3 months on the Cingular network. In this review, I am comparing this phone to my previous phone, the Motorola Slvr L7. The Z3 is actually one of the best phones that I have owned so far.

Appearance
- At first glance, this phone looks like a plain plastic phone, but don't be fooled. The dull exterior sides of the phone is made of a material that makes it easier to grip and hold onto. My old phone, Motorola Slvr L7, used to slip through my hand sometimes.
- You need to manually push the phone up a little before the spring mechanism takes over.
- The keypad is practically in the same format as the L7. Unfortunately, the menu looks outdated, maybe it's the font, which I can't change.

Calls
- No problems so far with the quality of incoming and outgoing calls.
- Incoming calls on the speakerphone is a little fuzzy sometimes.

Video & Photos
- Big improvement from the L7. Not just in the megapixels, but the photos do not come out as grainy and there is a flash built into the phone.
- So far I have not found any limit in the size of the video files that the phone will play, depending on available memory. Sound quality of the videos is decent.
- You can see the photos or videos in landscape or portrait view in the phone.

Other:
- I use the voice recorder to record class lectures, but it's better to be within 3 feet from the subject, depending on how loud his or her voice is and the surrounding noise.
- Alarm clock. I use this on the loudest volume which is 7 and have not missed an alarm yet.
- I have started using the Delayed Call feature, where a pre-recorded message is played telling the caller that they are connected and I will pick up. It's handy when I get a call on vibrate and need to leave the room to answer it.
- Voice command is easy to use, because it actually recognizes what I'm saying the first time.
- You can set mp3's as your ringtone and it comes with a variety or pre-installed ringtones that aren't really that bad.
- Almost everything in this phone can be customized.
- Battery life is decent, but again, runs out fast when videos, music, or Java is on.
- No iTunes, for me, that is not a big problem.

I am prone to dropping my cell phone, but have not dropped this phone yet. I will definitely update on its status if and when it happens.

This phone was advertised as new. This phone is NOT new at all. Do not purchase electronics from China!! They will refund if you pay to ship back to China. I should have done my homework but Ebay should monitor the practices of their international sellers. Not happy with this transaction at all. Buyer be ware.

The phone works like a charm, even though it's missing the center butto wheel, it still functions fine and can handle some abuse

I tend to stick with Motorola phones in a probably feeble effort to buy something American. They may be made overseas, but they are designed in the USA, so I know I'm supporting some jobs at home.

For the Rizr Z3, I wanted a slider phone after I saw my friend with one. With the Rizr Z3, I can take calls and do several other things without sliding it open, meaning the keyboard stays tucked away. This means the keyboard doesn't suffer from the damage of my shoving it in pockets or on countertops, etc.

Call quality, picture and video taking, how the phone works, etc, is all fine, what I would expect from any cellphone. Wanted this one especially because it plays MP3s, but haven't used that feature yet.

Battery life has simply astounded me. I only make 2-3 calls/day, probably all of them under 5 minutes, and this phone's battery will last at least 2 days without going on the charger. If I make no calls, the battery can last 5-6 days. The phone this one replaced was the V300, which absolutly had to be plugged in everynight if I didn't want to wake the house with battery beeping.

This phone's only weakness in my eyes is the speakerphone. Maybe the V300 spoiled me with it's super loud and clear speakerphone. On the Rizr Z3, it's hard to hear the other person. They hear me fine, but even with the volume turned all the way up, I can't hear them very well at all.

My second minor gripe is that the lights go out just a few seconds after answering or making a call. The thing is, I don't remember where the buttons are, for example, turning on speakerphone. And the only way to see the buttons is if the backlight is on. There is no benign button to push to make the lights come on. So, this is an often frustrating thing.

Overall, I'm happy with this phone. It looks good and works well.

Phone is not worth the money, look at any Sony Ericsson slider phone. They blow this phone out of the water.

Like the MP3 player and ability to access microSD card through USB on Linux. Battery life seems pretty good. Seems solidly built. Only negative is reception is only slightly better than my old RAZR V3.

This is a great phone. It has strong sound, great features, reliable and dependable. I went from the Nokia 5300 to this phone and the only thing that I would change is the ability to put notes on the front display. The display is bright and clear and very easy to see and read. The camera take's good picture's and very easy to use. I recommend this phone completely.

I love this phone very easy to program , simple to use love all the feature . Motorola make great phone. I decide to buy this because my Blackberry Pearl went out on me . And I look at a lot of phone and I once own a A723 Motorola and lost it . I love that phone to so I decide to try another Motorola phone.

a simple yet sleek phone. great sound quality with mp3 and speaker, good camara with light. love the slide feature. only cons i think are the batt life goes out quick, have to go into calander to see date and kinda slow on web. over all love the phone.

The NewPhone's size is perfect for carrying in a pocket and the battery has a pretty good lifespan of roughly 4 hours. My only complaint is that the menu system on the phone makes you click four times before you can find someone in the address book, set an alarm, or perform a additional functions. Other phones I've owned have simpler menus and get you to important features easily. Overall, I'd recommend the phone if you're on a budget.

have trouble functioning. sometimes the phone automatically turns off and the screen goes white and restart.............

I love my phone. It was a great price. Have had the phone over 6 months and no problems. I do have att has a carrier and the phone is T-moble. No problems with service.
