I love my KRZR. In fact, I fell in love with it before I bought it. One of the many hats I wear is that of a US Cellular Representative. I couldn't wait for this one to come in and I bought it right away when it did.

PROS:

It's definitely sleek. I liked the original RAZR when it came out but there was something holding me back from buying it. Although it was thin, it was a little too wide. The KRZR came out and it was sleek all around. I like the MP3 player that it has. The quality is much much than some of the others than claim to play MP3s. They actually sound like music, not just ringtone quality. Another feature I'm very fond of is the ability to insert an MiniSD card. With the card installed you can put photos, videos, & music on it inside of the phone's memory...making it easily transferable without software or cables. You can put the same memory card (with the use of the adapter that comes with it) in your digital camera or printer or any other device that accepts a standard SD Memory Card. The buttons on the front of phone enable you to operate your MP3 player options with the phone's cover down. The buttons are flat so they're not in the way, barely visible if you're not using them.

Cons:

There are a few. Some of the other reviewers were right about volume. It rings pretty loud but conversations are sometimes hard to hear if you're in a loud environment. I've had a little static with this phone at first, but it seems to be okay now. It must be a motorola thing, because I've seen other motorola phones do the same thing where as others have not.

~

US Cellular has a program called Easyedge (Each service should have their own program that is similiar) that allows you to download ringtones, wallpapers, check email, surf the web, get weather & news, and play games. If you enable this feature, this phone's capabilities increase tenfold. There are many people who prefer other phones, and they have a right to, but as for me...I couldn't be happier with this one!

HOT and SLEEK, but a PITA! MOTOkrzr KRAZR K1
Review created: 04/24/07(updated 07/13/07)
11 of 14 people found this review helpful.

Oh! The Motorola Krzr K1 is a delightful phone to look at! Slender, sleek and ultra sexy.

My husband has the black one, I opted for FIRE. We've had them about 2 weeks now. I'm going to give you my opinion on good and bad points only.

My favorite points? This phone is super slender, lightweight, all around easy to hold. Design is perfect for holding next to your ear, the most comfortable I've owned. Touch controls for music actually work! Screens are nice and bright, easy to read. Voice recognition works well for me, not so well for my husband and his Texas drawl. Hands free (speaker) is easy for both people to hear/understand.

The bad points? These super shiny phones are fingerprint magnets. Instant smudges! Back of these phones are a flat color, not shiny like the front. Camera on this phone is a waste of time. Yes, they are easy to take. No flash, grainy, ANY movement and you have a picture of a colored blur. If you are answering a call, and don't get it flipped completely up you end the call. This phone is hard to hear if its ringing in your purse, or in a car with music/screaming kids.

I've had nothing but problems with loading music, but I think thats operator error!! :)

Overall, if I could get this phone again I would... but only if I got it for a GREAT sale price! I've had tons of compliments on it AND it goes well with my wardrobe!

If your looking for a phone with great extra features, pass on this one.

  Motorola Krzr K1m (Verizon Wireless)
Review created: 10/18/06
5 of 11 people found this review helpful.

The Motorola Krzr K1m is downright sexy and offers Bluetooth, EV-DO support, and good call quality.

Just when you thought Motorola couldn't ride the wave from its popular Razr any longer, the once-staid, now-cool company rolls out its line of Krzr handsets. Styled similar to the Razr but with a few important improvements, the Motorola Krzr K1m casts a slim and striking profile that's sure to send cell phone fashionistas into a tizzy. As with its predecessor, the style-focused form factor entails some usability sacrifices in the controls, but the Krzr K1m ranks as the one of the prettiest cell phones we've seen thus far. On the downside, performance had its high and low points, and the Krzr K1m's features set, which includes Bluetooth, a megapixel camera, and support for EV-DO networks, doesn't offer any changes over Verizon's Razr V3m. And in all seriousness, just where did Motorola get the silly name? The Krzr K1m is so hyped that Verizon Wireless and Sprint announced availability within a week of each other, yet Verizon's version is the first to go on sale. You can get it for as low as $199 with service. (There's also a GSM version of the phone, the Krzr K1).

While we don't hide the fact that we're growing tired of the thin-phone phenomenon, we'll admit readily that the Krzr is getting us excited about diet handsets all over again. To put it mildly, the Krzr K1m is very pretty, so pretty that it makes the Razr look like some circa-1980s car phone. While the Razr was a one-trick pony with its design--thin from the side, yes, but also boxy and plain from the front--the Krzr is beautiful all around. At 4.05 by 1.73 by 0.67 inches, it has a slightly thicker profile than the Razr while also being taller and thinner when measured across its front face. The dimensions make the Krzr much more comfortable to hold in the hand and it feels better when cradled against your face. Also, at 3.6 ounces (a tad more than the Razr's 3.3 ounces), it enjoys a more solid construction and a sturdier hinge. It's still a bit hard, however, to feel such a small phone vibrate when it's in your pocket.

As Moto is quick to point out, the Krzr includes a plate of hardened reflective glass on its front face. Though that sounded a bit gimmicky when we first heard about it, the result is undeniably appealing with a sleek and sharp look. The dark gray color is nice as well, though we're partial to the blue face on the GSM Krzr K1. On the other hand, the K1m's darker hue attracts fewer smudges and fingerprints than the K1m. Motorola promises the glass will withstand cracking and scratches, but we didn't try to prove that wrong. Another highlight was the shiny chrome plating on the handset's bottom end.

The postage stamp external display is a bit small for the phone's size, but it shows an acceptable 65,536 colors. You can view the date, time, signal strength, battery life, and caller ID (where available), and you can use the display as a viewfinder for self-portraits. The display disappears entirely when the backlighting is off, but a flick of any exterior button will activate it again. Alternatively, you can change the backlighting time to always-on.

When the Good Outweighs the Bad
Review created: 03/29/07

Before you start reading this, let me get one thing out there and clear. I HATE MOTOROLA and their phones. But after looking over all the others, I settled with the KRZR K1m, which doesn't have a review page, so I'll add to this. I have lots of reviews about MP3 Players, PMP's, and even a Samsung A970 cell phone, so here goes.

Pro: Loud Speakers,MP3 Player,GPS Navigation,Large Contact Book,Voice Commands, Touchscreen MP3 Player buttons, Bluetooth
Cons:1.3 MP Camera, Non 2GB Micro SD Card Compatable, Somewhat "stripped" version of K1

The only real reason I'm writing this is to vent about all the things that should of been in this great phone. Overall, it's small, loud, and has all the bells and whistles and teen to late 20's kid would want.

I don't see why the 2.0 camera was taken out for a downgrade to 1.3,maybe because the 2.0 was VGA and the 1.3 is Opitial?

If this was meant to have MP3 function, then why does it have a meager 500MB of on board memory? Were they thinking that their users would really downgrade their songs to 48kbps or lower so they could fit more songs on?
And why, just why does the K1 support 2GB Micro SD cards and the K1m doesn't? It doesn't make scene. You can put in the SD card, but it won't read the the 0.7GB rest... WTF

Stop screwing customers. If a singular customers gets all the extras, don't shortchange the rest of the Carriers.

Make sure you don't drop it!!

I received my KRZR K1M about two weeks ago. What a great phone!!

The positive: Looks great, fits in your hand and against your face nicely, has a pretty nice camera for a phone, very sturdy hinge/body, has a good strong feel to it, great sound and signal so far.

The negative: Very prone to scratching, it is a sure way of leaving a clear fingerprint, not a whole lot of tools or applications.

Any negatives that this phone may have are quickly made up by the fact that it's looks are absolutely mesmerizing, it is easy to use, and the hope that it will last a long time.

(I mean it when I say prone to scratching, I dropped it once and instantly regretted not buying a protective case before I used it. Make sure you do!!)

Good luck!

I think Motorola really made something amazing with the sleek and sexy "copy" of the RAZR. I remember there was a huge marketing hype when the RAZRs first came out and I was one of the few people that didn't join the bandwagon. Sure, it was fashionable, but other than that, it didn't really appeal to me--then came the KRZR. Wow, this thing is loaded for such a small, thin form factor! It has a 2 megapixel camera (more than you would ever need on a cell phone), a microSD slot for to store all of your music and pictures, and it's silver, almost like a mirror, body is so sexy and beautiful to look at. Definitely a great clamshell design phone for all of those looking to purchase it.

  Motorola KRZR K1

This phone is a multimedia phone at heart. It has anything you could need and then some. In my opinion the KRZR K1 out weighs the K1M. The KRZR K1M is a CDMA phone for services such as sprint and verizon. While the KRZR K1 is for gsm services such as at&t and t-mobile. While both share different features, the K1M lacks opposed to the K1.

I.E. The KRZR K1 has a 2.0MP Camera while the KRZR K1M has a 1.0MP Camera.

The KRZR K1 has easy access to your micro sd slot on top of your sim card for fast-swapping photo albums and music. The KRZR K1M has a micro sd slot which is damn near impossible to swap without using a mini flat-head screwdriver.

The KRZR K1 has no bluetooth file restrictions. Meaning you can make your own mp3 ringtones and send them via bluetooth to your phone. The KRZR K1M has bluetooth file restriction as you are forced to pay 3 dollars for sprint or verizons rintones.

The KRZR K1 has a video recorder as a feature which allows you to record videos at as long as 1 minute with sound. The K1M stops at 30 seconds.

The KRZR K1 has wonderful music quality and i have been hearing that the quality on the K1M suffers a lot.

The KRZR K1 has seamless multitasking and navigation without a hitch. The KRZR K1M is often jerky and unresponsive to certain button pushes and commands.

What im trying to get at here if you have not noticed is the K1 beats the K1M. If you are going for just appeal grab the K1M if you are going for appeal and performance get the K1. I have had this phone going on a year and i love it. It is small enough to shove in that little coin pocket on your jeans and is really customized if you make your own wallpapers and ringtones. While the K1 even lacks some minor features, the huge feature is the fact neither the K1 or the K1M is a 3G phone. C'mon motorola, the razr v3 had 3g support, squeeze it in the KRZR! Overall this is a preety slick phone and still somewhat new enough to have a 1-up on style on others. It will keep you happy for some time...or until they release 3G support.

I hate the name. because what is a krzr....except for a silly name for a phone
Aside from the silly name, it is a very delightful phone. is very sleek and small,
yet it has a lot of potential. depending on how big the added memory is.
The Krzr accepts flash, music and is an mp3 player also.
Has a ton of ringers, and also uses any tune you pick to be a ringer as well. you can change that whole outside to fit your taste, so that it can be all you. But you better be mechanically minded to do this job it isn't for the faint hearted.

  KRZR...that's RAZR with a "K" =)
Review created: 10/04/06
by:
2 of 8 people found this review helpful.

Well what do you know? Motorola decides to revamp its RAZR line and create a whole new item, but with a CDMA/EV-DO twist.

Seeing this item at a Motorola fair definitely gave me some ideas. Of course, it has the basics of a Verizon Wireless V Cast Music cell phone: 1.3MP camera and video camera, microSD card, V CAST/EV-DO functionality (you can tether it to your laptop), bluetooth, and a sleek design. But here's where my opinion comes into play.

I just don't like the design of the previous RAZR. It's hard to hold in your hand, it's fat, and honestly? It just feels flimsy to me, and that's a bad thing for me, considering I apparently love to drop all my phones haha. In comes the KRZR. The KRZR is about half the width of its predecessor, and shorter as well, so it's SO much easier to hold!

Also, the intenna (the bottom part of the phone) protrudes its signal much better than before. Test calls were loud and clear, and they rock. But what REALLY takes the cream of the crop is its encasing. The RAZR is kind of plastic-feeling; this one is SO much more hot!

And on the front display, you have touch-sensitive music controls for that avid music fan in you.

The only downside? The microSD card is hard to insert and remove under the battery's casing, but then again, I use a USB cable for all that, so no worries to that one :).

Final verdict? Same features, MUCH better design! So compelling to pay the $199 for a 2-year agreement, but it is expensive too for pretty much the same features as the RAZR. I guess that's your choice on how you feel...=)

Love this phone! Just purchased another one for my husband for Christmas. If you love your razor you'll love this slimmer version of the same. Easy to use. Takes great pictures and is easy to thumb through. Sleek look with a glass front. Fits nicely in pocket. Also when turned up is easy to hear even if in your purse. Unlike my last two phones its loud and clear. You can also buy the cable and download tunes for ring tones. I can't think of any downfalls yet except for the glass front is easily cracked. Buy a cover for this baby, treat it well and it will reward you with great service! Hope this helps you decide.

  Great Phone!

This is a great phone. I think the textured keypad is an upgrade over the razor. It has been easy to customize (hot key assignment and personal wallpaper). It is a nice and slim, not bulky. Battery life has been exceptional.

I had to buy a new phone because I dropped my previous phone in the yard. i found it as my mower chopped it to a million pieces. It was a zero cost phone with my ATT plan. It was only a few months old, so when I chopped it I had to buy a new one. The bad experience with the zero cost phone made me more willing to drop a little extra coin on the new one. So far, I am happy I did.

I will offer one tip to anyone who buys this phone. Install a media card and change the phone book from the sim card to the media card. If you do not do this, you can only enter one phone number per entry. Switching to the memory card allows you to add all of a person's contact info.

This is a good phone if you are a person who takes great care of your phone. If you tend to put your phone through alot I would not recommend this phone at all. The phone seems durable but even with minor pressure the screen will be likely to crack therefore rendering the phone somewhat useless. I like the phone because of his good picture quality, ease of access and features but like I said, if you tend to be rough I would suggest a different model.
