  Unique player, with classic features

Although it is already old fashoned, I was fortunate to find one on ebay. Becauses this player is one of the few that be loaded with playlists made on your computer, and the connected songs. Only players working with the rio developed music management system can do this. And within that class, the M500 has extremely long battery life, and is durable. I had to depart of my first because the window cracked under the presure of someones foot. And I started looking for a replacement. The Rio Forge broke down after 4 months, and was not as faultless, so I started looking for an M 500 again. And my next one will be: you guessed... a motorola m500.

  M500 Motorola MP3 player

I started with a M25 player. The radio was good and the digital sound is better than any other I have listen to. I'm 59 and I hear it all. PBS keeps me informed. Audio books make long trips end too soon.
The M500 has very good reception and hold weeks of listing. I was able to buy guality at a bargain price. Thanks

  Ugly but good
Review created: 01/02/05

Pros:
Features, sound quality, FM, price, support (email and PHONE)

Cons:
Software/Firmware limitations, no iTunes support, ugly cover.

I bought my Motorola M500 at radio Shack which I believe to be the only place you can buy one (bad move Moto ). The player is an ugly greenish color with a removable cell phone type battery (hello iPod), small screen, headphones out, volume control, power button, USB mini port and a multi-purpose jot stick control. The unit ships with a plastic belt clip, a charger, a USB cable, battery and cheap ear buds (you will want to replace these immediately) and Moto s own software that you can use to organize your files with the player. The device has the features I wanted from a player such as FM...

M500 is Pocket Sized and has Great Sound Quality

Pros:
Price, Size, Weight, Sound Quality, Screen Visibility, Long Battery Life, Bullet-Proof Feel of the Case.

Cons:
"Lame" Rio based software. Player sometimes crashes with Custom Equalizer choice. Poor tech support.

My M500's screen is nice and bright plus the volume can go higher than my ears can stand if I want. The guy at Radio Shack gave me some cool earbud covers so that the buds would stay in my ears. I've been experimenting with different rip settings so that CD's which blend from track to track won't have a 1/4 second dead gap between ripped files but I have not found it yet. I filled the M500 up with everything I had recently, but it started to complain that it didn't have enough room to generate a directory of text so I went back in and took out some music so it would run. The peculiar thing...

Pros:
Price, capacity, versatility, FM tuner, battery life, size, user friendliness.

Cons:
See the review.

After looking at many MP3 players over the last couple of months, I finally found one that had just what I was looking for: reasonable price, plenty of capacity without being extravagant (I don't need 40GB!), FM tuner, ability to play several different formats (I mainly wanted to listen to books, but have since loaded lots of my music collection onto it), long battery life, and convenient size. I have never owned one of these things before, but this Motorola m500 is one of the best things I have EVER bought. I just love it! Some cons: Earbud headphones. (Can anyone actually make these things..

  M500 Mighty fine MP3
Review created: 12/21/05

Pros:
Great product and great customer service.

Cons:
Replaced earphones.

I have had my M500 player for 9 months and I still love it. Easy to use. Easy to organize music, play, listen to. I use it while I am working. The M500 has an FM tuner which Ipod did not. It also was a bit less expensive. It clips on my belt. I got an accessory to play it thru any FM tuner and use it in the car (or in the house.) Long battery life. I have plenty of tunes on it but it still is less than half full. I had one issue early on where it locked up while downloading cause I disconnected it mid-load. But it was easily resolved with a call to Motorola customer service, who actually...

Pros:
NONE

Cons:
DOES NOT WORK!!

Don't waste your money or time. I build all my own computers! And work on them professionally, I still can't get it to work after two days. I've tried it all and it's a no go!
