Worst phone I've had...many fundamental nuances...
    Review created: 02/15/06(updated 02/15/06)

    What I Dislike:

    - Speaker phone quality is really poor. I can hear the other party, but they usually have trouble understanding what I'm saying. If you plan on using speaker phone in your car, forget about it. I've used speaker phones from Samsung and LG, and it's tremendously better.

    - No mode for Vibrate & Ring at the same time

    - If you set an alarm while the phone is in Vibrate mode, it'll still sound off when the alarm goes off. I'd expect that the phone would vibrate and not ring.

    - Unable to add multiple numbers for 1 contact in 1 entry. For example, if John has a home phone, mobile phone, and work phone numbers, I have 3 John entries in my contact list.

    - Unable to sort through contacts past the first letter of the name. For example, if I want to jump to my contact John, I cannot type "J" "O"... I can only type "J" then scroll all the way down to John.

    - My calendar reminders will not go off 20% of the time. I have to power off/power on my phone, then all my reminders that did not go off will sound all at once.

    - Cannot mute an alarm or calendar reminder when the phone is closed.

    - While a call is in session, it doesn't show the call timer (talk time elapsed)

    - Vibrate mode is very weak. I miss 40% of my calls when it's in my pocket.

    - Antennae protrudes from the phone and makes the entire phone very bulky. There are a lot smaller phones that do a lot more.

    What I like:

    - There's a flash function for the camera
    - 60 available entries in the recent calls folder
    - Good quality for the phone at the time of release. Newer phones have better cameras (higher pixels)

I have this phone for about two months now and there is no complaint i can give about it. the camera has a good resolution for a phone and the screen is nice n big so its great when your watching video's on it. Also it has a slot to put a memory card so you can transfer music or pictures. The Speaker is loud enough to have it hands free and is also blue tooth compliant..If you are thinking about getting this phone i say get it you wont be dissapointed

Motorola E815 - Best CDMA phone out there
    Review created: 06/10/06

This phone is about good as it gets for CDMA. Great reception, large and sharp LCD, 1.3 megapixel camera, MP3 player, expandable memory to 1gb, excellent battery life, loud speakerphone, bluetooth, voice recognition.

    Pros

    - Awesome reception. I have Verizon wireless and this phone almost never drops calls. I can also get reception in places that my old phone had trouble with.

    - Battery life - Very good battery life with the standard battery and if that's not good enough, there is an extended battery avaliable.

    - Screen - One of the sharpest and largest internal screens. 262K colours instead of the usual 65K. I can put my pictures on the phone and use it to show friends and family. Works much better for this than my Ipod nano.

    - Expandable memory - You can upgrade the memory to 1gb with the MicroSD port on this phone. Its great for using the phone as an MP3 player. Now I can bring my music without bringing an Ipod! Also can be used to store photos and videos

    - Voice recognition - The voice recogintion on this unit is excellent. Unlike other models where you have to train the phone, this phone doesn't require it. You can dial by names stored in your phonebook or by reading off numbers. Its quite good.

    - Computer interface - I can sync this phone wiht my PC and Microsoft Outlook so I dont have to worry about losing / entering my phonebook again.

    - Speakerphone - Probably the best speakerphone I'v heard on a cellphone. It has its own independent speaker for this instead of trying to overdrive the earpiece like many other phones.

    - MP3 Player - this is quite nice because you can bring your music wherever you have your phone. Quality is pretty good and is easy to use.

    - Bluetooth - You can use bluetooth devices with this phone. Depending on your carrier, certain functionality has been disabled. (Obex on Verizon)

    - Mobile Web - This phone has EVdO high speed capabilities which means you can do streaming video and the mobile web works very quickly.

    Cons

    - Size - the phone is pretty big. Not terribly heavy, but its as big as a Razor and almost twice as thick. But they have to put all of these features somewhere!

    - Camera - Quality is good but not great. But its a phone, not a camera.

    - Disabled bluetooth functionality on Verizon. Verizon has taken it upon themselves to disable some of the bluetooth functionality on this phone, such as OBEX.

This is the phone I have been waiting for. It does everything I want in a phone very well in a single unit. It may not be as flashy or good looking as the RAZR but it sure works a lot better. I'm extremely happy with this phone and would wholeheartedly recommend it!

      Excellent Phone

This phone is better than any phone offered by Verizon Wireless at this time or in times past.

    Feature Likes:
Excellent Signal Strength-5 dropped calls in 9 mths
Camera Quality-this is still a phone mind you and takes very good pictures
Transflash Memory- up to 1 GB of additional memory to be added to the phone
    Screen- Crisp and Clean
Keypad- easy to use; large buttons
EVDO-much larger area supported than Sprint's high speed access

    Phone Dislikes:
    Vibrate - Very Weak
Soft Resets - Mostly from using txt messaging (usually cured if you keep the in and outbox cleared of unsaved msgs)

Before people write reviews I do wish they knew something about their phones. I read in one persons review that it doesn't have a vibe and ring feature... untrue it most certainly does but it's vibe THEN ring, as with most motorola phones. While using the phone for a little over 9 mths now I am most pleased with the phone and the features it offers. Ringtones can be moved to the phone via transflash/micro SD w/o messing with any software in the phone it's just a bit of a pain. From what I read in the negative complaints about the phone it was more of a personal preference of phone choice not of the actual phone itself which to be honest is a bias opionion and not giving the E815 it's true props. Those that are looking for an excellent phone and aren't tied to a particular brand of phone then this is a very good option and I highly recommend it.

      Motorola e815 (Verizon Wireless)
    Review created: 03/28/06

This review is for the Motorola e815 for the Verizon Wireless network. This phone has 1X and EVDO capabilities, VCast, Get It Now, a built in 1.3 megapixel digital camera, camcorder, speakerphone, and Bluetooth wireless technology.

This is an excellent looking phone. It has a lot of standard features but it still falls short of LG and Samsung. The Keypad is well laid out and has large buttons; those worried about fat fingering numbers will welcome this. The Navigation Key and OK button in the center of the navigation button some may find a bit small and difficult to work with. This model has the ability to add additional memory via the transflash port, those into the media player thing will love this. This phone has full Bluetooth capabilities that have been turned off at the request of Verizon Wireless. There are ways to unlock all functions of Bluetooth if you don’t mind hacking into your phone. The resources are readily available on the Internet, just be aware that once you start to play with your phone you forfeit all manufactures and carrier warranties. In other words, make sure you know what your doing before you start or you run the risk of owning a pretty paperweight. The case on this phone has much improved over the high gloss plastic that easily was scratched on the V710 model. Over all a sleek phone, great primary or backup phone if you lost your main phone or it was stolen.
