Not only does this phone looks good, but it has MANY features. It has a camera , speakerphone, can do email, browse the web, text msg, ring tones galore, can take movie, and can fit easily in any pocket or handbag. IF you will use a lot of the camera of the phone, you need to buy the usb cable that hooks up from phone to pc. The cable set cost about $40 at TMOBILE. It comes with extra stuff including a software that allows you to customize your own ringtone! I have about 10 customized ringtones on this phone. IT is great!!

You can also personalize the display of the phone with pictures or whatnots. When you do talk in speaker, you have to open it. If you shut it, you would have to put it back to your ear to talk.

You an also have AIM and YM on this phone. You can also upload music. Comes with games also just like any other phone out there. Can customize wallpaper. You can also receive a fax with this phone! You just have to forward the fax number you received to a fax machine so it can print it out.

The only thing I don't like about it, is when you have Missed calls. It always shows on the display and you have to either open the thing and cancel it or you have to keep tapping on a key to get the Missed call message out. IT gets annoying.

Keypads also have light. You can call your loved ones in the dark.

You can also get bluetooth for this.

Motorola A630 - eyes in love

I understand this A630 model is no longer available - but if you can find it, get it, provided these are the features you would want:

I keep my phone on 'vibrate' and it alerts me to incoming emails. That is a service I need, and the A630 is the best of any I've seen. You will like the keyboard - with keys far enough apart to type with the side-tips of your thumbs, at least - And if you are barbie doll high, you can use it as a regular keyboard. But at that height, you don't know what a regular keyboard is.

There are some compromises with the A630: It is, for me, like talking into a potato. I wish that it was more stylish, but it isn't. I'm getting a Bluetooth thingy to descretly stick on my ear, without (hopefully) looking like those dunces who seem to want to look like a motion picture director who has fallen off a sound stage someplace.

But the size of the A630 phone and I have come to a peaceful place. When you open the phone, the size is an advantage - and it feels sturdy. The phone, with T-Mobile's service, will do anything. Stocks, weather, movies, and even maps (although small) - are a great comfort, knowing you can look up that information. But I know you can probably do that with almost any device today.

It's the way A630 does email that finds its place in my heart. I can click open my little phone and it transfers into a computer-look. With only another click or two, I'm writing mail, but you'll stumble around trying to get used to it - like getting a new car with toys - until you finally have a system.

Being able to reply within SECONDS of getting mail is like hitting a good golf shot. You get a free smile, knowing you didn't keep the sender wondering. Nor waiting. And your day is more springy, knowing you don't have to race home to see if there's a problem waiting in your inbox. Okay, "golf shot" wasn't the phrase to use. Sorry. I just like golf and don't hit good golf shots so how did I know.

There may be other phones that give all of this email comfort - I like the looks of some, such as the Treo, but the keys are too close and small. The Sidewinder is like carrying a laptop. The Blackberry has the looks of a Walgreen's plastic calculator. And tell me how you can talk into any of those without looking like Get Smart talking into his shoe. Or a paperback novel.

And with my A630, the keys are hidden. I like surprises. Even though as a phone, it still has the class of a potato, but it's a nice potato. And it stands out like a bug becoming a butterfly when you open it.

Future of the world by me: What needs to happen is the Motorola RAZR designers need to walk into the room and put a keyboard under that RAZR phone. I can see those people without a moment's rest from their familes, who have to be asking for a way to read the tiny letters on that phone.

At the time of this writing, Motorola is coming out with a "Q" - which seems to look like a Treo with Motorloa written on it. I'd stay away from that until the Motorola RAZR designers come back from vacation and spend some time in the design lab looking at the "Q" -

Bottom line summary (didn't think it would ever happen, eh?) Look for a Motorla A630. Buy it and write often to your frineds. Like a garden, friendships need constant attention or they can disappear. This way, when you have a fun meal - take a picture (A630 is a camera phone, too) and attach it to an email, and laugh with your friends. Who knows, they might call you, and you can talk into your potato.

This phone is awesome. It is practical and not to fancy. It is really easy to use. The keypad makes it easier to text message. Pictures are a snap with this phone. The only problem i see with this phone,is the bulky look. Still, this is a good model.

Motorola A630 "In a class of it's own"

I've always loved to use a pda phone because i do alot of texting and it's always very easy to use the pda keyboard. I've used a lot of pda phone but they've not been working well. I finally gave up on pda phones when i came across this Motorola A630. What's amazing about it is that it's so small that you won't even notice that it's got a full keyboard inside. I've never had problem with the keyboard despite it being very small. No pressing two letters at the same time. This phone is amazing. You can even create ringtones from your computer straight to your phone.
The only problem i have with this phone is the external keys. Sometimes whenever i'm receiving a call and i press the green button, it doesn't respond. I'm not sure if there is a problem with this phone or it's all Motorola A630. The camera isn't that great either but it's ok. Overall, this phone is amazing at least for a phone that size, it's genius.

Great phone and the best features!

This is my pajumpteenth (weird word, but I can't remember how many I've had before this one) phone and I must say that this is the best one that I've ever had. It allows me to instant message extremely easily with the QWERTY keyboard and the style of the phone is a perfect size for a lady. I have the web feature turned on with T-Mobile for only an extra $6 a month which allows me to go on the web anytime I need to. When I did my research, this phone gave me all of the features of a sidekick at a fraction of the cost for the phone and for maintenance.

I'm going to be sticking with this phone for years to come, until it conks out on me or I get bored with it whichever comes first!

But I love, love, love this phone and could not have made a better phone choice that suits my cellular needs!

Love the phone! Use it with cingular works great only bad part is its not set up to browse web.. You have to go through cingulars tech department so they can set up internet use...(since its not a cingular phone)OH and yes you can lock the outter keys, that other reviewer didnt look at his owners manual..It uses the same software as the razr and i think its way better than that crap razr..

Its an excellent phone , I bought it from ebay since Cingular was not offering this model.
I'm big user of SMS and qwerty keyboard fuctions well for this.
Overall the call quality and the battery life is excellent and works well with the bluetooth. I would reccomend a bluetooth.
The features I did not like in this phone is the phone book one entry for each number , so I have ended having multiple entries for the same person.
The other thing is when the number key pad is locked , when one tries to unlock it the lcd display does not light up, this I found to be difficult especially in the dark.
The phone sometimes frezees and requires a power down.

  average type of phone
Review created: 06/10/06
4 of 5 people found this review helpful.

the phone was cute at first...once open, the buttons are spaced very close so if you are a fast typer you need to slow down to insure that you typed the word properly...the bluetooth option was nice, you had to go through about 5-6 screens to get to it, but once on it was a big plus..i unfortunately was unable to download info or use the internet function due to my service provider and the "unlocked" phone...i ended up returning this phone and buying one that was one-fourth the price with just as many features and a few special extras...the phone is average but no way worth the price...if i could have one that would have worked with cingular i still would not pay over $75 for it...

it is one of the best phones i ever purchased i love it it is perfect for the bussiness man or woman who likes to surf the net with ease and loves to text message as much as i do. I send out over 3000 text messages a month the only draw back is the limited memory and no memory card slot but other than that i would recomend this phone to everyone

All around great phone, sound quality needs improvement

Overall, I have no complaints with this phone. It is a great phone for anyone who does a lot of text messaging like I do. The one down side is that the sound quality is not the best. I always seemed to have trouble hearing people on the phone, and I almost always heard satic while talking on it. Granted, my hearing isn't what it used to be, but I think the phone could have been a little louder. The problem was easily solved by purchasing a Bluetooth headset, which worked seamlessly with the device with no problems whatsoever. I've read other reviews that complained about a lag in the menus, or just a bad menu layout. Personally, I never had a problem with either; perhaps I'm more flexible with my menu layouts. The camera on it isn't fantastic, but then again, I never expected to use it for much (that's what dedicated digital cameras are for!) The keyboard layout, while appearing small, worked quite well for me (I have average-sized hands).

Overall, I'd rate this phone a B+. I've been very satisfied with it, other than the sound quality/volume it produced.

The smallest phone out there with a QWERTY keyboard. Nice features but nothing all too fancy. If you just want to check your email, surf WAP web, AIM, and text message a lot, this phone might be for you. I bought 2 just in case my phone goes out. Once you get used the keyboard, you'll never want to get a regular phone again. It's like a baby sidekick without a real html browser.

I love that this phone offers so much to be so small. It is so user friendly. All phones should go to a separate keyboard for texting and typing in any information. I love that you just flip it open to go to speakerphone. Its camera did not impress me. Every thing is blurry. I bought this phone for my ten year old daughter. She loves it as does her friends that have more high end phones. The interchangable face and back plates are great for putting more of your style on the phone.

The good: I am all about text messaging and the keyboard makes it a breeze. The phone is small and attractive, I had a razor before but I like this phone better! It is easy to use and suprisingly sturdy.

The Bad: I dont know where the antenna is located in the phone so I dont know how to not block it. The keys are easy to press and it is annoying clearing the screen all of the time,it does have a keylock but I hate unlocking it to use it.

All in All I recomend this Phone to anyone looking to own one.

The good thing about this phone is that the fact that it opens up.
Now the bad thing. First, it freezes up very often. And you sometimes get very slow response. Like for example if you are playing the game, you press the button and you get a 30 second delay.
I had a motorola MPX 220 before and it broke. I loved my MPX220, this A630 is nothing compared to my MPX220. A630's signal is very weak. And the sound is not good at all. I say, put your money somewhere else

The A630 is a nice phone. I purchased it for the keyboard function for text messaging. I just find the keyboard to be small. the phone is very small which is good and small. the outside phone pad could have ben nicer. The phone it's self is a nice phone but could have been better. Overall it's a nice phone with some great features but could have been made alot more solid.

The qwerty keypad when you flip the phone open is perfect for those of you who text all the time. It is difficult for those who might have larger fingers.

Neat and very versatile phone. I am still learning how to use the phone. I don't like that it is not as easy to use as my previous phone. You have to use the keypad for most operations. Overall though I am pleased with the Motorla A630.

Whilst this cell is small and easy to carry in the pocket, it is not a quad band making it not useful if you have to travel. They should make an improvement to make the A630 a quad if they are serious in continuing with the sale of this cell. But generally, the cell is small with many useful parts that are helpful. What I do not like about the cell is that it doesn't work when you are traveling to other countries because it is not a quad band.
