I liked having the origins and meanings with the names which is mainly why I bought this particular book. However, there were very few names that the average caucasian American person like myself would name their child as most of the names are so exotic. I like unusual names but not so different that they would not fit my child, and since I have two children already I have a pretty good idea what my kids will look like. As a result I did not find this book very helpful at all.

I decided to buy this book to help in selecting a name for our baby. This book seemed to have a bigger selection of baby names than any other book I have found on the market, and on eBay I got it for a steal of a deal! My husband and I have several options that we are considering from this terriffic book!

The Mother of All Baby Names BookThis is an excellent book because it not only lists the possible names for babies, it also tells many things about the name, e.g., language from which it originates, meaning and many alternate spellings. The book also lists fifteen things to consider when naming your baby, such as, will these initials spell something which you'd rather not spell? Other sections include: The 100 Most Popular Girls' Names; The 100 Most Popular Boys' Names; Baby Name Worksheet; and Final Choice Worksheet. My only suggestion for improvement would be to add a pronunciation guide as I, personally, wouldn't have a clue how to say some of these names. They may look pretty or sound boyish in print, but may be pronounced a completely different way. (As a side note, you can also find good names for your pets in here!)
