  ONE OF THE BEST!!!!!

Good: Every character; Fantastic gameplay; All of the Bosses
Bad: Long load times; The sound can be a little off; Missing some Backgrounds

Let me tell you, this game rocks. Before I got this game, I had only played the N64 version. But when I put this game in the PS2, I was blown away.

First off, it has every character in the series, it even has some classic versions of the characters. But, I only wish there were a few more of the classics, like MK1 Scorpion and Sub-Zero for example. It also has all of the backgrounds from MK 1, 2, and 3, but it's missing some of the MK1 levels: The Courtyard, Warrior Shrine, Palace Gates, and The Throne Room. But all the levels are a nice touch. The gameplay is near perfect. You can even switch off the combos and play in classic MK style.

I also like the Brutalites. I even know one by heart now. I don't really like the Animalities, though. While I like some of them, most of them are too cheesy, like Scorpion's. He turns into a penguin and craps a bomb. Anyway, I love the bosses. In fact, Shao Kahn was the first character I played as. The sound is really well-done, but some of the effects are missing. For example, when you pick Goro, the announcer doesn't say his name, And, when the round is over, it doesn't do the whole ending sound thing, and the announcer doesn't say at the beggining, "Round One" and all that. But the biggest downside, is basically the load times, but that's not too mayjor to complain about.

Overall, Mk Trilogy is bar none, one of the best in the series. And if you're new to the MK scene, i definitly suggest you give this one a try.

1 of PS1's Best Games; Rivals Newer 2D Style Fighters!
Review created: 08/27/07

3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

What a game by PS1 technology standards! I call it a 2D Style game, because it has the feel of a 2D game, but it has more 3D features than it does 2D. As someone else had said, I had this game, too, 7 or 8 years ago and ,like someone else's post, mine was stolen, too. My Playstation, Dreamcast, and all my games were stolen; those were the best systems out at the time and everything was gone! I kind of lost my desire to play video games for awhile after this happened and so I no longer have a Playstation; therefore, I just never tried to get the game again after this. This game was the best Mortal Kombat game out at the time of its inception, because everything about it was much better than all the others preceding it(more characters and with more characters come better moves, better graphics, better animations, PS1 was a better system than the older ones, etc.); maybe it's better than the totally 3D versions, as some 2D style games don't make it as 3D games, but I wouldn't know, as I've never played them. Playstation load times also come into play, if time is a big issue; however, it wasn't for me. Even though I haven't played it in such a long time, it ranks 4th on my all time game list. If you are a fan of classic 2D fighting games, as I am, then Mortal Kombat Trilogy is a game for the collection. This post stirred up some old memories for me, so I think that I'm going to see if it is available for Dreamcast.

  Laying the smackdown in style
Review created: 12/09/07

What does one normally think of when they hear the words "Mortal Kombat." Spelling errors aside they probably think of buckets of blood, brutal fighting, and some of the sweetest finishing moves ever seen in a fighting game.
This version of the beloved brawler sees every character in the MK universe and also every arena from 1,2,and 3 come together for one big ass beatdown. MK Trilogy features a whopping 32 playable fighters including for the first time ever the bosses. Other features include Aggressor Kombat in which the more aggressive fighter gains increased strength to pound opponents into paste, Chain combos which were also around in MK3, and a number of new ways to finish off your opponent with the best having to be the new Brutalities. This allows you to input a lengthy button sequence and quite literally pound your opponents till they explode. Or the Stage Fatalities, some of which are absolutely nasty. My personal favorite has to be the Belltower finisher in which your opponent drops through six floors before being impaled on a spiked fence.
Overall if you like your fighting fast, brutal, and ruthless. MK Trilogy will be right up your alley. Be aware, however, that this game cannot and will not play properly on a PS2. If you beat the game with it it will lock up and will do the same if you let the time run out on the continue screen. It does this with ALL copies of this game. Don't get rid of it thinking it won't work at all. It still plays fine on a PS1. PS3 I'm not sure about. Anyhow, if you don't have this game I strongly urge you to try it out. If you have well, enjoy it.

  Great Game... Mortal Kombat
Review created: 11/26/06
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

Mortal Kombat, in all its incarnations, has always been about anticipation and mystery - bringing players back time and time again in search of brutal combat, secret moves, and hidden characters. And now in Mortal Kombat Trilogy the entire Mortal Kombat series (and more) is on one disk. Die-hard fans will lose their heads over all-new moves, finishing techniques, and a new secret character - Chameleon. Players won't find any improvement in terms of control, graphics, or sound from the Playstation edition of MK3, but they will find a heck of a lot more game.

In addition to the plethora of great-looking backgrounds and digitized characters, Mortal Kombat Trilogy ups the ante in terms of options. Players can do more than simply adjust the level of difficulty and turn off the graphic violence mode; now they can select "auto" combos, which make those difficult multi-button attacks much easier to perform. Gone too is the long loading delay from MK3 and UMK3 when Shang Tsung, the morphing character, switches identity. In Mortal Kombat Trilogy, the console loads two additional characters into memory - this means Tsung can now morph without delay. This pre-loading feature gets even faster and deeper when players select characters who are palette swaps. (An example of a palette swap would be the human male ninja character, who takes the form of the blue Sub-Zero, the yellow Scorpion, the green Reptile, and others. In essence this is the same character, but with slightly different attributes.) The new secret character, Chameleon, takes full advantage of palette swapping, and constantly shifts among the human, male ninja character forms. His morphs are ingenious enough, however, that most players will welcome yet another ninja into the fold.

While there's little doubt that the Mortal Kombat series is the best 2D fighting-game property ever, there is a bottom line. That is to say, Mortal Kombat Trilogy should be seen as a bonus for loyal fans before Mortal Kombat steps into the 3D arena (in next year's MK4). For these fans, Mortal Kombat Trilogy offers enough added elements to justify purchasing it. However, the Mortal Kombat series does have to move to the next level quickly, or it will become a fatality itself.

MKT (Mortal Kombat 1 - Ultimate)
Review created: 06/04/08

If you like the classic version of this game (MK1) then you will love MKT. MKT has all available fighters from Mortal Kombat 1 through Mortal Kombat Ultimate. You can even fight against the computer using the Bosses like Shao Kahn, and Motaro.

From Brutalities, to Fatalities and Babality, you will not get enough of beating down on your opponents. Choose from 1 on 1; 2 on 2; or an 8 player battle.

  NOTHING CAN PREPARE YOU...NOTHING...
Review created: 03/04/08

If you like Mortal Kombat 3 and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 than look no further than this massive compilation. This game is packed with little bits from MK1 and MK2 includeing stages and characters such as Johnny Cage, Raiden and Kano. All the secret characters featured in Ultimate MK3 are now selectable including each boss and sub-boss of the first 3 MK games.

Overall the game play is remains the same from MK3 with the feature of the "run" button and the combo system. Each character contains their set of fatalities, babalities, Animalities, Friendships and of course stage fatalities. This is the most complete version of Mortal Kombat 3 highly surpassing Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. Playstation Version is highly recommended over Nintendo 64's as N64's is missing a great amount of features.

My son was very anxious to receive this game. He was successful in bidding for the item. I took longer than anticipated to send out the funds to complete the transaction but the seller was so very patient. I was afraid I was not going to get the game anymore. But I was pleasantly surprised when I kept getting reminder notices from the seller.

I thought that was quite unusual and really great that the seller did not re-open his bid for a new buyer.

Thank you very much for your kind patience.

Three 2D Fighting Classics rolled into one....
Review created: 05/09/07
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

This game is to Mortal Kombat 1,2,3 and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 what the modern day Mortal Kombat Armageddon was to Mortal Kombat 4, Deadly Alliance, Deception and Shaolin Monks. It combined all the characters, all the bosses, all the arenas, all the elements into one big package, This is a beautiful game which the Playstation handles flawlessly with beautiful digitally rendered music with faithful ports of all the mortal kombat arcade's original elements into the 32bit Playstation. Great framerate and quick responsive controls.

This game is without question a must for mortal kombat and 2D fighting game fans. Its a huge collection of fighters all at you disposal.

The only downside is all the stories of MK1, MK2 and MK3 are thrown out the window because all this is, essentially, is an EVERYTHING we've ever done rolled into one style compilation. You can even choose, new sub-zero or old sub-zero, new shang tsung or old shang tsung, human smoke or robot smoke, etc. Its got EVERYONE and nearly EVERYTHING. Live out your Mortal Kombat 2D dream matches. Human Smoke vs Robot Smoke, etc...So with that in mind, its almost impossible to add a story. It blends all the characters together and in the process destroys the stories of the originals. But thats ok, this game isn't meant to replace MK1,MK2,MK3 and UMK3. Its simply meant to be closure to the 2D Mortal Kombat series. A grand finale, a thank you to the 2D mortal kombat fans and a treat for the 2D fighting fans of the time period. It was after this game Mortal Kombat began its dive into the 3D games with Mortal Kombat 4. The legacy of MK continues to this day.

Highly Recommended Classic
A+++++

takes 10 minutes to setup. Simply follow the steps below. I promise you,
this is 100% real. I will answer you on any question! Here is what you
do. Click on the link below, register, pick an account type (referral is
the easiest) and complete just 1 offer (Very important that you complete
the 1 offer otherwise your account will sit in limbo until you do). This
is not like other sites where you need to complete one offer on 2 or 3
different pages!!! And a lot of these offers are FREE trials with
nothing else to buy...No commitments!!!

There are plenty of cool offers to choose from such as Blockbuster
online, Stamp.com, Netflix, Gamefly which are services you would
regularly sign up for anyways and their all secure networks, why not use
them to get a free PS3 System or cash (I did the Stamps.com for a 30 day
free trial and it never cost me a penny and I received credit for it the
same day). Look at the offers and choose the one that works for you.
After signing up and completing your one offer, simply refer 8-13 people
(depending on the FREE prize you choose) to do the same under your link
(just post the same thing as I have on eBay, and you'll get your
referrals before the auction even ends.)

Then they will ship your PS3 System or your selected item for free, I
chose the PS3 80gb System. No Joke, 100% REAL!!! The reason these
companies make money, is because most people don't bother getting all
the referrals. All you have to do is post it ! They use us as
advertisement by word of mouth which saves them tons of money which goes
toward yours and my free gift. These are legit companies such as
Blockbuster, Netflix, Gamefly etc... You can copy my listing if you
want. You must use your own authentic link though. You will get your own
personal link after your orders placed.
