The Moon-Spinners (DVD, 2003)

Disney did it best. This is a great step back in time and based upon Mary Stewart's heroine in her book, The Moon-Spinners. Its got great scenery ( I should know, I lived in Greece) and lots of action and adventure. Pretty Haley Mills is the perfect actress for this. You'll enjoy it if you ever watch it, I have seen it about 8 times over the many years. They don't make them like that anymore. :(

Another great Disney movie from the sixties, this one has some great actors in it. I loved the scenery of Greece, it is a beautiful place. The movie is also suspenseful and has a happy ending.

Oh, this takes me back to when I was a teen! Great movie for all ages. No swearing, nudity, violence...just good adventure, mystery, romance, and fun. Get out the popcorn and prepare to enjoy this one.

This is an entertaining light suspense mystery with a dash of romance thrown in for good measure. I must admit that I was a huge Hayley Mills fan growing up but this is not one of my favorites. Originally released in 1964 this film stars Hayley Mills, Eli Wallach, Joan Greenwood, Pola Negri and Peter McEnery. It was directed by James Neilson and produced by Bill Anderson. Set on the breathtaking island of Crete, the scenery is beautiful.
It is the story of two tourists who accidentally encounter jewel thieves. Nikky (Hayley Mills) and her Aunt Francis (Joan Greenwood) are on vacation in a small Greek fishing village, staying in a sleepy little village inn. Nikky starts to fall for the adorable Mark Camford (Peter McEnery) and ultimately must help rescue him when things start to heat up. I must make sure to include the delightfully nefarious Madame Habib (Pola Negri) who lives on a yacht and has a leashed trained cheetah for a pet.
A film filled with romance, drama, mystery, humor and action. The saddest part is the DVD quality that Disney is known for is sadly lacking whereas the same movie on VHS is far superior. If you are a Hayley Mills fan it is definitely fun to see her in a more mature role. And if you are a fan of Nancy Drew, the Hardy Boys or Trixie Belden I am sure you will find this appealing.
***Please note this was an adaptation of a book by the same name written by Mary Stewart and suggested as a Disney film by Mrs. Lillian Disney. I would strongly suggest reading the book, as it is a most enjoyable read!

I bought this DVD because I grew up watching Hayley Mills movies! She was my role model as a child...starting with her POLLYANNA movie where she found the "good" in every situation, or person, that she met.
I thoroughly enjoyed re-watching the Moon Spinners and still jumped at all the scary places!
The quality of the color and sound was excellent on this DVD.
It sure brought back great memories of movies that could be viewed by the whole family and it was fun to see the fashions of the time.
I would recommend this movie to any family, especially those with young ladies.

This is an exciting Disney movie set in Greece. Haley Mills is thrown into danger by jewel thieves. There are some intense moments as she and a friend try to thwart the thieves.

I've seen this movie as a 3 parter on television when I was a kid. I liked it then and I still liked it now. It has its flaws and the Hayley Mills character is somewhat blundering at parts, but I still think it is a great movie for the kids to watch. It is not trying to be pretentious, so I don't review it as if it is a great movie either. It is just great fun.

I loved this movie as a kid and enjoy sharing it with my children. Was so glad to find it on ebay, my daughter was asking where did i find it. We have watched it several times, great condition and a great movie!

I bought The Moon-Spinners because I adored Hayley Mills as a child and wanted to share the experience with my grandchildren.

This was my favorite movie as a child. I was delighted to have found it on E-Bay. The cost was more than reasonable.
