Monty Python's The Meaning of Life (DVD, 2003, Special Edition)

Me and my kids are huge Monty Python fans! We have watched the Holy Grail a dozen times at least, and know parts of it by heart. I finally got around to watching this movie too. The Holy Grail I think is a much better movie, and Meaning of Life is not as cohesive, rather a series of sketches slightly tied to the central theme of the meaning of life. I admit that I had to ff (fast forward) through a few parts when watching it with my kids. But I still howled with laughter over many of the individual skits, like the one about the officer's missing leg; cracks me up just thinking about it. Or the one about the hugely obese man vomiting all over and then exploding after one last "wafer thin" mint. Some of the songs are embarrasingly catchy ( Every sperm is sacred! ) Anyway, this movie is a good addition to the Python catalog, and any fan will enjoy.

If your a Monty Python fan and you haven't seen all their films, you'll love this one. This one is quite abstract and interesting. It gives a humorous approach to the biggest question in life, "what is the meaning of life?". For those who aren't familiar with Monty Python or British comedy, check out this one, perhaps you'll enjoy it, perhaps not, but its worth a shot.

This is one of a very few cleaver "British Comedian Groups"! Monty Phyton films will definately give you a giggle! But this one is a classic favorite of mine. I wanted this DVD for a long time, I have enjoyed it over and over on the tellie, now I can enjoy whenever I please! Thanks eBay.

Grahm Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin are fall on the floor funny!
Not everyone can do this kind of movie and be loved for doing it!

While not the greatest of the Monty Python movies, this movie is the only Python movie that really captures the spirit of the television series. A great collection of skits formed into an hilarious movie. Prototypical Python. "Mr. Creosote", "Death", "The machine that goes ping" and "Every Sperm is sacred" will all crack you up. If you like British humour, and in particular Python humour, this is the movie for you.

Believe it or not, I bought this DVD solely foe the film short at the beginning, "The Crimson Assurance". Otherwise, I do not think MOL is a good movie nor do I ever intend to watch it again. However, I do think "Holy Grail" is one of the best movies ever made.

This is a honestly British way of looking at the meaning of life. Truely remarkable. Opening song, Mrs. Brown's Advice, and The "Sperm" Song is worth the whole movie!
